I've made a small temporary shelter to get me started while I build my resources but I'm too scared to roam far for the fear of not finding my way back to my shelter! Is there anything that acts as a beacon or any 'return to base' function?
Just want to add to all the others; this is freaking awesome - everything MCPE should have been and well, well worth the money! Buy it!
SURVIVALCRAFT - quick feature reference (read if you haven't bought this game) SURVIVALCRAFT - a quick feature reference Given the fact Minecraft has been available on our iDevices for some time, and has fared well in the top charts, it's hard to see why we would choose anything else for our block breaking/building needs. There's several clones out there (some good, some bad) but none that match the quality of Minecraft Pocket Edition right? Right? Well, until just very recently. Although Survivalcraft has been around since 2011, it only recently made its way to iOS. It brings with it many of the features that some of us feel should have been standard in MCPE. I made this list in the hope it answers some of the questions relating to queries such as: "I've got Minecraft, is this worth getting?" "So this is another clone?" "I haven't played minecraft, should I get this or MCPE" IMHO, this is the game MCPE should have been, and if you have even the remotest interest in these sorts of games, you really must get this one. The only thing missing that is offered elsewhere is synchronous local multiplayer, which has been expanded over wifi through another app and MC will be adding premium servers apparently. Anyhoo, hope the following aids a more informed decision for those of you still on the fence: MODES Creative - unrestrained creation mode Harmless - safe survival mode Challenging - default survival mode Cruel - permadeath survival mode, you die, you lose everything (including the world) Adventure - using signs with links it seems you can create stories and games for other people to play, tools are strictly required to dig. Finding coal before the night arrives can be a tall order, however if you craft a smelter from some stone and chop down a tree, you will have everything you need to make them. Put the wood in the top, and some leaves at the bottom for coal. Hope this helps someone.
It's not an exhaustive list by any means, but I just posted a thread with a list of modes, options, craftables and other bits and pieces... Hopefully it may answer some questions you guys still perched on the fence may have. EDIT: Appears the thread has magically inserted itself in this one...
The low-tech version is usually a tower of dirt near your base and/or markers of some sort. My favorite is three pieces of stone, an upside-down L pointing towards your base. Leave them often enough that they can lead you back to base. Later, you can put torches on top of them.
I was able to get some credit today. Bought this game, played it for 5 minutes and already I'm in love. Combat is terrible, the controls need some tweaking, but this is the portable Minecraft experience that I was looking for (and didn't get) when I bought MCPE. This game feels like a mid-beta version of the Minecraft desktop edition, yet it's running on an iPad. It's wonderful. I just spawned in on a beach next to a giant frozen lake. I could see sharks in the ocean and birds flew overhead. I ran across the lake, being chased by a polar bear, and found some nice tall mountains. Saw a little cave up on the hill, decided I wanted to live there but a brown bear already called it home and told me to sod off. Tried fighting it with snowballs, but that went badly. Killed it somehow, but a wolf ate me before I could secure the entrance. Then I respawned at the beach and saw lighting set a polar bear on fire. Buy this game, it owns. Runs really well on iPad Mini.
Never really played minecraft .... But this game is incredible . I've only looked around and built a shelter , but seeing the fish in the water and the sky gradually getting darker and the moon coming out mesmerized me . Then it started raining and ducks were flying around and I ate a duck egg lol . Now wolves are roaming around , I'm going to try to build a spear and kill one ! I actually feel like I'm totally in another world . I also like how they have extensive info in the app and recipes for crafting for newbs like me . I haven't even really done anything yet and it's sucked away about 3 hours . It's running smooth as silk on my touch 5g and I haven't had any trouble with the default controls - but like I've said I've really never properly played minecraft . I can tell I'm going to spend a lot if time with this gem though Thanks for all the impressions ( they really swayed me ), I trust people one these forums way more than any reviews . I do have one question , does anyone know if it's possible to make ranged weapons ? Like a bow , or a rifle ?
I think you can throw the spears. Press and hold on screen to throw things, it gives you an aiming reticule.
Are there plans to add more biomes? How is the draw distance? Does the infinite world load smoothly (i.e. do you get to an area and have to wait for the landscape to load)? --- I do plan on getting this, but didn't have enough $$ . But got World of Goo instead (late to the party, but awesome) Now I regret dropping the 6.99 on MPE last year. It's not even on my device anymore. Especially now that I try to support up-and-coming devs like Kaalus here. Wonder how long Survivalcraft will stay ahead of MPE in the charts?
I haven't posted here in a long time, but this game required me to. . I was nervous about buying this, because I've been swindled before on games I thought were great but were terrible. This is not one of those games. This is a game with more "realisticness" (that's a word now) than minecraft, and while that's not necessarily a good thing, it makes THIS game more fun. The only complaint I have is the combat. It's not as polished as MCE, but it's still not terrible. It works alright, was just tough getting used to it. Still haven't died yet (I beat off a pack of wolves with my axe and machete). That sounded weird....I.....FOUGHT OFF a pack of wolves. That's better. Been alive for 4.5 in game days. Still haven't found any Ore or caves (I know a cave is close tho, because I found a bear and killed it. does that mean there's a cave nearby for a fact if there's a bear?). Had to make my own coal from wood. Got a decent shelter. Got a mine going near my house. But I digress. This game is great. MCE is still "prettier" in some areas, but this game has more detail. Like weather, sunrise, sunset etc... (That sunrise....beautiful). Whenever I build a nice house I'm making a balcony so I can watch the sunset each morning. If you're thinking about buying it, stop thinking and just hit that purchase button.
I'm a long time Minecraft player and have always been disappointed with PE. Survivalcraft gives infinite worlds, caves, AND the ability to export via Dropbox? Unbelievable! I've been playing for hours already and I'm blown away... This is incredible! I can't wait to see where future updates take it! At this rate, I'll never return to Minecraft PE!
So this game is really worth the 3.99? I have 10.06 and am saving for War of the Zombie and Incredipede Beside the obvious improvements (infinite world, sunset/rise, weather, caves), how does this compare to MCPE? Any chance of NPCs, structures (strongholds, etc.), humanios enemies in future updates?
