Ehh.. Not quite. Minecraft didn't take any of Infiniminer's textures and just revamp them slightly, like survivalcraft has done here.

Also, the concept of Infiniminer was team-based game modes of trying to collect minerals out of the terrain the fastest, and bring them up to the surface. Minecraft was a new game that went in a different direction than Infiniminer. survivalcraft and Minecraft are two verrrry similar games with verrrry similar mechanics and goals: craft, survive at night from enemies, collect resources and build anything you can Imagine, etc.

But, I digress. I guess the Devs managed to pull this one outta their ass without getting in trouble, and I commend them for that. Hell, it even looks fun. But all in all, it's a well-rounded clone.

This gets my vote for GOTY. Even if it is a familiar theme, it just does everything (bar a few wish list features due in an update anyway) I want it to. I haven't even bothered with creative mode, just leapt into a survival world and have been visiting very frequently to add something like another Escher inspired room or a vast set of cloisters around a courtyard.

FML, I get no sleep ATM. This is one hell of a game, and I just couldn't recommend it enough.

Getting struck by lightning never felt so good...

Btw @Bronxsta: I love the modernHD 1.2.1 texture pack, I know you're after a search method but your question mentioned realistic packs, and this one kicks ass. Kinda has a Skyrim colour palette... Which is nice

Can you still build potentially enormous structures in this like in MC? For example replicating the Taj Mahal or a Star Wars AT/AT, for example? Or is it less about the building? Thanks!

It sounds like a user based ranking system would be desirable for the texture packs.

If anyone feels like posting a list of the best ones, I'm sure some people would be happy ;)

On the topic of clones. This game is obviously a clone with some slight changes. That's exactly what it is. I'm not saying that's bad since it improves on the iOS version of Minecraft but that's what it is.

The draw distance may impede the grandeur of such buildings, (that's not to say its bad though) but I see no reason why you couldn't build endlessly. As my world has expanded, so has the file size associated with it, I'm fairly sure you never lose what you build and given the "infinite" landscape I think yes, but if its fugging massive you may get some of your epic design covered by fog.

If the world is infinite, how do maps work?

A main comparison between SC and MCPE is world size, MCPE is 256x256 I believe, whereas SC has no expressed limitation, hence my comment "infinite" within quotes. No idea how such a map is recorded, that's way beyond my knowledge of programming, but as far as I'm aware, what you do or make is persistent and you can continuously walk in any direction and still find new land without barriers.

My guess, would be a world is saved as some form of text file that indexes what is contained within each square of a grid, working up from absolute bottom, using a number to associate that part as a block of type x. If the world is traversed in any particular direction perhaps the text file records how far the player has moved from the point of origin, recording all newly discovered bits of land as they're generated for the first time and associating each stack in a grid with its representative blocks. In other words, I reckon the developer figured a way to tidily record everything with a very big map of numbers that is easily amended and added to.

Though I rather suspect this is a black box part of the program and we are supposed to only know it works, not how it does so. I'm fairly sure that as long as you have the space on your device/ram to load the world you're making, it can be as big as you want it to be.

Not sure if I understood your question, but in creative mode your inventory seems to contain everything that can exist in the game world, thus no need to craft and I don't think there is anything other than what is within the inventory. There's 7 pages of items in the inventory to add to the world (each page with 32 items, except last page with about 20).

I like all of the dev's new ideas EXCEPT the stamina thing. I understand it makes it realistic...but it's almost too realistic. I can get behind the "have to eat or die" thing, and the "need to sleep" thing....but putting stamina in seems almost like the "buy energy to play more" games, just without the buying. Maybe make it an option if you want Stamina on? That way the hardcore people can play super realistic and the casual people can enjoy playing without worrying about drowning after swimming 60 feet.

I don't want to be speared by a bull because my guy can't run for more than 15 seconds. How do I know my guy isn't a marathon runner with incredible stamina?
I get exhausted from digging some dirt? How do I know my guy isn't a professional gravedigger who does this all the time and can dig dirt all day without tiring?

Those are just dumb examples. Lol.

I meant a map item. Is there even a map? I assumed there is. I know there's a compass

No map, I kinda scared the shit outta myself after taking a hapless walk for trees away from my monastery. Nearly lost it all with little hope of recovery lol. There is the aforementioned compass that will always guide you home if you last slept there, there are signs which you can place all over the place, and using roads, position of the sun and placing stacks of blocks like breadcrumbs will aid navigation.

Or you could go one step further and draw one yourself :) I guess it kinda suck not to have a map, but its also quite a cool feature as it forces you to be inventive and cautious, promoting that survival feel this game creates so well.

    Here's a tip:

For those who couldn't find coal, you may actually burn some wood to have coal. To do so, you will need to create a furnace. Using wood planks or leaves as fuel, burn raw wood like oak, birch or spruce. Now you have coal for your torches :)

Big things have small beginnings. The future update sounds amazing and I'm planning on building something pretty massive in creative. It'll take awhile, but once it's out, I think you guys will enjoy it. Small beginnings. Yes.
