I'm so on the fence with this I never played a minecradt game before they look fun but I didn't enjoy junk jack and for the price I don't want to regret this purchase.... Any good video reviews out there? Or a good video to sell me on this game?
There are caves to be found, and the mountains get pretty big, but there is nothing to compare to the terrain that was generated in Minecraft post 1.8 adventure update. Not yet anyway. It's as stated before, not as good as desktop Minecraft, but much, much better than than Minecraft PE. As with Minecraft you are buying into a work in progress, and how far it will go, and how quickly it will get there is anyone's business. It's already further ahead of MCPE and more satisfying so I feel good about it, and enjoy it for what it is right now. Only spear and machete so far, but the spear can be thrown for ranged attacks. You can also create traps with the spiked planks, and disguise them with grass coverings. It's enough, and Minecraft has never evolved past sword and bow anyway. It spawns you on a beach, and seems to be infinite ocean on one side and infinite land on the other. Snow, desert and temperate biomes at the moment, with some nice mountains appearing in all but the desert. No ocean biomes as yet, but at least you get plenty of room to explore and build in the types that are here.
Just learned about "Adventure Mode". Sounds awesome. Does MC proper even have a feature like this? Any recommended Adventure maps? Wait, what are we doing in this thread? And yes, wow, pretty amazing this game shot to the #1 spot so fast. Fast time I checked this game out on the App Store - 26 reviews. Now 349 in such a short time
Is there a crafting book to show you how to make recipes and when playing on survival does it feel like your trying to survive to the point when you go out looking for stuff to bring back to your home do you have to watch your back? Also lets say I built a house and walk far from it will the house be there and is it hard to find it again? If I like the answers to this ill probably buy it.
Maps? There's an in-game crafting encyclopedia --- Is there a map in the game? Or a compass? Tools like these would be very useful in an infinite world. And to second his question, how's item persistence? If I venture far off, would my structures still exist if I go back?
Thanks dude but i found a port of Misa's Realistic Texture Pack 64x64. Was my favorite in Minecraft so i will stick with that Here is the link: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/60g110sqhkpaha3/HVE4fu8esk#f:Misa64x.png
Man It would be cool if you could fish in the game and have a mini type game to catch fish What's really encouraging is looking at the update log , I guess the sky's the limit . More weapons would be cool too . Really , really enjoying it though - have to get a compass so I can really explore .
^This It always blows my mind how ignorantly terms like "clone" get thrown around. Yes, Minecraft popularized the concept of first person, 3D worlds made of blocks, but that's it. Not only was much in MC strongly influenced by Infiniminer, it's not as though the underlying concepts don't pre-date video games altogether. These games are first person Legos for all intents and purposes. Yes, admittedly, actually trying this game will cost you a BANKRUPTCY INDUCING $4, but it took me all of 10 minutes with it to see how different it was. If this game is a clone of MC, then every first person shooter that's come out in the past two decades is a clone of Castle Wolfenstein/Doom/Quake and Id should suing the crap out of half the console game industry
Here's the direct link you need to use: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/sh/60g110sqhkpaha3/wQZ4QycV01/Misa64x.png?token_hash=AAEkJ19EKuEOMgG1w6ZuKtqs7XoUVPJnZsJ0escwe12xBg
I look at it this way. Just as Doom, Quake, etc. popularized the FPS genre, Minecraft did the same for the sandbox block survival genre. I don't think it's yet evolved to the capacity of FPS's, but it's getting there. Block Fortress (TD), Ace of Spades (team-based FPS multiplayer), Minecraft (fantasy survival/exploration), now Survival Craft. (realistic survival/exploration)...the genre is growing. Any ideas for a better general name for the genre beside "sandbox block survival"? Is there a common name yet a la FPS, RTS, MMO, etc.?
Maybe, but you don't call FPS's Nerf games, do you? Or RTS's digital board games? So any other names? Or the genre's not there yet?
