JohnSmith still looks great for medieval-themed textures. I also switch to Uncharted3=AlexMcCulloch every now and then for a more realistic look. I hope someone would make a post-apocalyptic world for download
Still torn about getting this game. How do these texture mods work? You just download them in-app? How drastically do they alter/enhance the graphics? Also, can: 1) anyone give a detailed impressions on how or why this is better than Minecraft PE (beside the obvious stuff like infinite worlds and more realistic tone)? Can't decide whether to get this or save for upcoming games 2) anyone describe how the draw distances are and how the world loading is? Fog to cloak far distances or no? Does the world load smoothly or do you reach areas and have to wait for things to load?
Playing on an iPad mini (I think it's the same tech) it plays very smoothly, I haven't had any drops.
You just go to the Get Content option and download stuff there. There is more to do. That's pretty much why it's so much better. There are no fog to cloak distances I believe. The world loads very smoothly. It's worth it. Why don't you just get it instead of just waiting? You won't regret it. The texture packs alter graphics depending on which one you get. I have an iPad2. It runs very smoothly.
It's been out since November of 2011. If it's too be taken down, I'm betting it'd have been done sooner.
Considering all the other MC clones and that fact that this one is tearing up the charts, I doubt it'll be taken down
If you try to say this game is ripoff or clone of minecraft, i have one word for this: INFINIMINER http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/01/20/proto-minecraft-abandoned-due-to-epic-error/ http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Infiniminer This game is inspired by minecraft the same way as minecraft is inspired by infinimier. Its not a 1:1 clone. there is nothing to discuss
HOLY HELL! Thank you for the history lesson! I never knew that! I always though mine craft was the first.
Ah yes, I remember seeing something like that on the interwebs. This game is inspired by Minecraft. It's its own thing in itself.
Is that a record? Top the chart in 3 days? Or at least for an indie game with little to no marketing? (Well, for me...I hadn't heard of this game till yesterday)
1) The short answer is that this is closer to the desktop Minecraft experience than MCPE is. Slightly different flavour due to the realism and lack of creepers etc, but digging stuff and building stuff ... this is just a much fuller experience. 2) I nerdpoled up and looking straight down started to lose sight of the ground at about 60 blocks up. It does the same as MCPE for cloaking distances, that blue fog effect. So if you were standing at the edge of a dark hole, if you went far enough up that darkness would be replaced by blue fog. Flying around in creative mode pushes the game engine the most, and stuff does pop-in noticeably, but considering you can fly in any direction as far as you like that's not really a dealbreaker. You see similar issues on desktop Minecraft from the big name Let's Players. As a mobile game this is highly satisfactory performance-wise. Anyone on foot in survival mode won't even notice this mostly as you'd be moving too slowly to really push the game engine too hard.
Hey, if you guys REALLY want to up the look of the game, try downloading the FANVER MOD v2 texture pack from the community download area. Here's some screenshots comparing the out-of-the-box textures with the Fanver Texture pack:
Decided I'm going to buy. Got to support this indie dev! And sales mean continued updates Three questions before I get it: - One of my favorite things in Minecraft was to see the amazing vistas, with the awesome looking natural formations. Overhangs, canyons, deep ravines, underground caves opening to massive caverns, those kinds of things. That was my main reason for exploring. Does SC have these types of natural formations? - Beside the spear and machete/axe, any other other weapons? I've seen requests for bows, not sure if it and other weapons have been added - Maps? Oceans with islands?
1. I dunno, but I'm guessing if you find a cave, you might find what you're looking for 2. As of the moment, those are really the only weapons. - Randomly generated. You get dropped off by a boat. Although I've never tried taking a horse out in the ocean to see what lies ahead before.
