Hey voncarp, is this the "Berren Roads" game you were working on? I remember looking on the forums at that one, and following along with the development. Looked really good. I really liked "Lonely Bunny" as well.
No,this is his OTHER game,Barren roads will be released for ios too but a little bit later,I'm buying this right now.
I'm trying to like this game,I really do but I wish there was single player mode so that we could play without lags.
Bought and played for a bit, so far I am definitely having fun and I do recommend it. The controls can use a bit of work but by no means are they bad. Graphics look good for me and have no lag on my iPhone 6S+. Will post more impressions later but it is worth the money imo.
Really loving this game. Can't believe it captures the genre in such a simple way. See you in the forest. Please don't shoot me, I promise I'll give you stuff.
I will add single player at some point. Sorry for your issues. It needs a good wifi as it sends a decent amount of network traffic.
Thanks Gilded!!!! Loving Galactic. http://toucharcade.com/2015/08/20/galactic-keep-review/ Outstanding artwork. Waiting for the sequel. See you on the battlefield soon!
So I went for it and bought, definitely has that day z vibe! Locations are detailed and not flat. Just still having issues in the menues. I have like 3 guns, some coloured red some green, all say they have ammo but none shoot? I managed to load a hand fun once after moving the gun and bullets about, but still can't see to fire the gun!! Can someone explain how this part all works??
Put the gun and ammo in your quicktab, select the gun and press the gun button to reload and shoot. Only downside to this game in my eyes is the lack of explanation in parts. Edit: Your ammo doesn't even need to be in your quickbar it seems, all you need is the gun.
I'm sure I have done that, but im thinking it might be because I have no bullets. When you select the gun the details it brings up says various things one of them is ammo, and gives a number, I assumed this was ammo loaded in the guns clip? Perhaps I am wrong!! Defo could use a little tutorial on the basics like this though, and the controls. Controller support would be awesome!! Thanks for replying !!
Besides the initial 12 bullets you need to collect ammo. I think there is 3 types which work with different gun types. Best way i've found ammo is by killing hunters and searching their body. Also, playing in my home world seems to boost the rate of good drops including ammo. If you ever see it stop by my home world i have one character i play as friendly there. Names dabbed
Great Concept ... Poor Implementation Think "Walking Dead" on a mobile device. How couldn't this be the best game EVER?! Well... I'll tell you why it isn't great (it could have been) The developer is a one man show doing all the coding himself... The game is glitchy to say the least. The BIGGEST issue by far is the rampant cheating. The dev knows all about it but has yet to do ANYTHING about it. There are countless trolls duplicating items on their own devices... They can get into any structure you build and disable you from using it... They hide in glitches in the map and kill you... These problems and many others are known but not dealt with... This game has potential to be at the TOP of the list of both profitability and popularity... and win many awards.. it is sad to see it in the state that it is in currently.
Cut him some slack. It's and audacious attempt to bring the genre to mobile and i think his commitment should earn him some salutes right?
Despite your frustrations, I really take this message as a compliment. I know about many glitches. There is a process with the App Store. People let me know issues, I prioritize and fix them, then I send it to Apple for approval. It doesn't matter if its 1 or 1000 coders. The wait time is the same. Approximately 3-14 days based on all my other games. Maybe Supercell gets instant approval, but I certainly don't. Players have all been moved server side in the next update. That fixes one of your concerns. Map glitches and structures have also been addressed. This is the 3rd update in less than 2 months. Does the game have flaws? Sure. Despite the toony graphics, the game is surprisingly deep with 300 potentially individual networked items per game, and over 2000 open worlds that you can enter. Radiation Island is #1 on the App Store and I have 3 times the items (all networked) and over 2000 more worlds to deal with in comparison. So yes, there may be some problems. In regards to "This game has potential to be at the TOP of the list of both profitability and popularity." Looking back, of course I would have done things differently. I had several free open betas that no one participated in. So I threw what I had on the App Store. When you are the little guy, no one streams, previews, or writes reviews on your games . I didn't have much feedback to work with. Now, I am playing catch up. Base on player feedback now, I found out this much: if you are a survival game enthusiast, once you play Wicked Forest, you never go back to any other survival game on the App Store. I have little doubt, some big popular development team is going to copy Wicked Forest formula and take this concept to another level. But, for the time being; Its the only open world multiplayer RPG survival game that comes close to any survival PC game. Thanks for taking the time to send me your concerns.
This is something I have been leaning towards. I hope to make players feel more secure in their worlds and be more self sufficient dealing with threats. If I am unable to do this over the next few updates with clans and blocking other players ability to build, I'll add a single player experience. Players tend to find more success in groups. I really want players to try to outwit others, but I understand multiplayer is not for everyone.
