I am disappointed that there are Americans in the professional/business sector who are allowed to go around with as poor English/grammar skills as this. What's even worse is that you are in charge of public relations activities for your company. You sound like a twelve year old. Please learn to speak and write your own language. :\
Gosh, this community is so negative...I may sound like a twelve year old because this place is for fun. But the negative responses and atmosphere from this forum is even worse.. outta here, i'm sure there are nicer people out there.
"I'm sure there are nicer people out there..." Yeah, ok, I'm sure you're a hotshot business wiz, 'cuz being sensitive is definitely the way to seal the deal. A smart person would sign a contract agreeing for a certain percentage as commission, and then sue if that contract was breached. You don't just smile, shrug, and leave.
No, I'm not being sensitive, I just don't believe in negative atmostpheres, and no i'm not a business wiz...just someone who likes to share ideas and get inputs on them, ...there was no contract therefore i was in the disadvantage at the company...and yes sometimes leaving is the best, just like this place. thanks everyone for 2 days of welcome! at the least...........
I think you just got under a few peoples skin by arriving one day, then the next day telling all the developers they're doing it wrong. There are loads of blogs, reports and discussions about how the App Store "works", and which business methods work and which fail, and I'm sure they've all read them. Right now it seems there's no sure method for success, it's a bigger gamble than most markets and to make it worse, it's constantly changing. What works for some doesn't work for others and the developers are forever trying to keep up with the current state of things, so being told that your method is better probably sounded a bit undermining. But apart from that one topic, I think you've had a pretty good welcome, better than some people get. If you hang around longer and take part in other discussions you'll probably find you get on with people much more easily.
I think this is interesting. There's such a misconception about how this all works, and the media only adds fuel to the fire. I am surprised we've not seen more people barging in here "oh no wait you are doing it wrong!" At the same time I am kinda disappointed to see the overly snarky responses from some posters. I know the OP was kind of out-of-line (particularly in the other thread) but I suspect from that person's tone they are eager to learn more than try to proselytize.. Advice to newbs, like any serious community we have a culture and are not simply feeling our way through in the dark (well actually...!) Give us the benefit of the doubt that a lot of people here (especially on the development forum) have spent a lot of time researching what does & doesn't work. At the same time, to an outsider, seeing a market where most products (full-blown quality games, to different degrees) are available for a buck or two is probably a huge red flag of "anything is possible," especially if they are coming from a completely different market.
Seems a lot of you are having a ball with this. Enjoy it while it lasts, because It probably won't be long before a Moderator comes and either locks it or moves it into the Kijib thread.
Yeah, curse this useful advice. I should also point out that some of the lulz were submitted by IMNS and Hodapp.
No -sob- Wait for TBOH or Midian or RttaM (currently in time-out ... AGAIN) to post and you'll see... :/
Yes, -sob-, bullies :////// But it's ok now! I hope... I mean.... Erm... don't tell him I said that...<.< But yes this isn't his first time out...
