I hate the title. It comes off as so cheesy, but perhaps all superhero movie titles sounded that way to me at first :p

But other than that, I think it's a wonderful idea. I think it's a smart move to reboot Batman, while also making it the sequel to Man of Steel. It will make more sense to see a new Batman in the Justice League film rather than them just recasting him out of nowhere and make him be a different Batman altogether!

It will be interesting to see the dynamic between Batman and Superman. I wonder if it will maybe even follow a similar arc to Injustice, which will lead into Justice League really taking after Injustice!

Probably not likely, but ehhh. :p

    SPOILERS for Man of Steel:

I think it will be really interesting if they decide to have Batman address the fact that Superman killed Zod instead of sparing his life, since that is Batman's one rule, and one of Superman's bigger rules (even though Superman has killed a few times before). That could lead into some very interesting dialogue and story developments :D

I so don't want to see a batman reboot in the near future. Leave Nolan's trilogy in peace.

Hey, at least they're not doing some crappy continuing of Nolan's franchise with Joseph Gordon-Levitt taking over as Batman with somebody like Snyder to ruin everything Nolan has done.

I'm glad they're rebooting it. I want to see a Batman closer to the comics. I also wanna see a Joker closer to the comics.

    I agree.

I would like a Batman that is more detective-ish and closer to the comics and doesn't talk like he is using mouthwash.

Of the 3 Nolan films I liked the 2nd the best. The 3rd was a bit cheesy at times , but I liked that they kept that fight from the comics. But not only did I have to try to understand what Batman was saying, I also had to decipher what Bane was saying. It was like:

Batman: hurr ra durr ra durr Batmobile.

Bane: hurr ra durr er er ra ruh Batmobile?

    Batman: hurr errr rahrahrahrahrah Batmobile.

    Gorden: Oh for ***** sake

I understand that Nolan's trilogy was supposed to be realistic, but that hurt too because then you couldn't have characters/items like Poison Ivy, Clayface, Killer Croc (heard rumors that there was a mention of him in TDKR), rahs al ghul's lazerous pits, banes venom, etc.

There are tons of things from the comics that they left out that could been awesome.

Another thing I hated about Nolan's trilogy was the Bat Cave was never actually built upon. it just, for the most part, remained a desolate cave.

The Bat Cave is one of the things that makes Batman, Batman.

Talia's death scene was so phony.

Catwoman a goggles were bad. The mask would been better.

    This is my opinion.

I actually agree with a lot of your points. And I flippin' love Nolan's Batman movies, even with Batman's stupid voice and all. I definitely agree The Dark Knight is the best out of the three, then Batman Begins, then The Dark Knight Rises. Rises was flawed, but it was a great way to end the trilogy.

The way I see it, is TDK trilogy was just Nolan's vision of Batman, hence all the changes (Bane's venom, Catwoman's mask, Joker using makeup instead of having his skin color changed by chemicals, etc.) this is why I'm interested to see how this new Batman will play out in a universe where Mr. Freeze or Poison Ivy would've be so far-fetched. I also wanna see Joker using all of his fancy toys and using the laughing gas again.

By the way, you mentioned not being able to understand when Bane and Bats were talking, I almost laughed during TDKR just because of that. :p

Erm... I think it depends which comics you read, actually. It was my understanding that everything in the Nolan universe was taken from the comics, with only a few artistic liberties taken. The only villain I would think someone would want to see that's "closer to the comics" would be Bane, as I think he was the most radically changed of all the Nolan universe assets!

The topic is big enough. If Game of Thrones can get its own thread then so can this.

Right now the way I feel is that I'd prefer this be Superman's movie that just has Batman as a featured character rather than an all out World's Finest movie. I want Superman to get his own trilogy in first. It's gonna be weird watching a brand new Batman trying to take focus in Superman's 2nd outing.

And I know the Nolan Batman is a little too grounded for this Superman's world, but my heart wants Christian Bale back as Batman rather than some new dude.

It's gonna be strange for Hans Zimmer to be writing a different theme for a character he's famously done for the last 10 years.

I think they should stop making super hero movies for 5 years. Then they can start again.

Hahaha, I don't usually like those How It Should Have Ended videos too much, but that was one of the better ones :p

So as far the versus title goes, I'm thinking it will not be a clash of superpowers but rather of ideologies. Neither one will hurt the other physically, because they both know the world will need them, especially if something like Doomsday comes along. They will just clash with ideas, especially regarding Superman's controversial decision at the end of Man of Steel.

Honestly, I'm wondering if Batman will be sent to retrieve Superman or something, then put him in jail, and interrogate him there. Then Batman will leave, while Superman will say, "You can't live without my help forever."

Then Doomsday will come down, and Batman will be so scared... Superman will see it on the television and try to hold back from breaking out. But then Doomsday picks up Lois Lane and Superman has had enough. He breaks out of prison and goes rogue technically, then he goes to the location of the newscast, and he sees Bruce Wayne laying on the ground, almost dead...

He uses his sun absorption powers to heal Batman, who will then vouch for Superman being able to be free from prison for this battle. They will still fight over certain ideas about how to deal with Doomsday, but ultimately they will team up and destroy him once and for all.

But Lois Lane will have been thrown several hundred feet when Doomsday is killed (he was clutching her when he was getting destroyed by Superbats), and while Batman looks down at Doomsday, Superman flies over to Lois Lane, holding her while he's crying and she is gasping for air. He hugs her and holds her tightly to his chest and tries to use the healing power on her, but it's not working. Something is wrong.

Plot twist: Doomsday injected her with a liquid form of Kryptonite, so that even if she lived and he died, he could kill or at least severely weaken Superman from the grave.

Superman is dying now, blood coming out in clumps, with drips of green coming from his tear ducts. The Kryptonite is affecting him way more than the first time he saw it, and he could very well be on his way to dying.

Batman rushes over to help one of the two... either Lois or Clark. He starts helping up Clark, but Clark insists on saving Lois. Batman gets an ambulance for Lois after he masterfully extracts the Kryptonite liquid from her body and cauterizes the wound. She's still not all better, though, which is why he called for the ambulance.

Now he rushes to Superman's side and is freaking out about losing this great superhero. He doesn't know what to do, Superman doesn't know what to do, and finally Superman fades into a coma, and it is assumed he is dead. Batman takes off his mask and cries on Superman's shoulder. He cries out, "I'm sorry Clark... You did what you had to do to destroy our greatest foe and save the woman you love. You didn't die in vain."

He leaves his mask next to Clark's lifeless body, walks slowly towards the camera and gets gradually out of focus, until the only thing we can see is Clark Kent laying there, with a Batman mask next to him, and the destruction all around him.

And then I was thinking somehow bring Superman back to life, but I don't know enough about the lore to know how to perform such a feat. I already screwed up some important elements, I'm sure, but the raising Superman from the dead thing? Yeah, I don't know how to do it.

Originally I was thinking of bringing in Wonder Woman. Then she'll have an epic entrance, and a guaranteed bigger role in the next film (or at least the Justice League movie), and she uses the power of Athena to bring him back... but I'm not sure!

Sounds like they gave accounting and/marketing a turn at coming up with a new pitch.

Wait until they start doing superhero zombie movies.
