People that have played this.. how do you think this game would translate onto the smaller screen of an iPhone?
The running part was intense. Really felt like the game another world especially with the graphics. Not trying to say that one game is better than the other or anything.
My guess is extremely well, if anything the graphics will look even more beautiful on the smaller screen, Especially for iPhone 4 users with the retina display, also I think the orientation switch will be less cumbersome on a smaller device such as the iPhone.
Played through the first session last night and was thoroughly impressed by everything about the game, especially the music. In fact I would say the music alone makes this game worth it for me, reminds me a little bit of Giorgio Moroder. The gameplay is solid as well. Like the poster above me said, that running part was intense. I have no problem recommending this game to anyone who owns an iPad.Can't wait til the next time I get a chance to play it.
Played through the first session. The graphics are nice, the music is very well done. An enjoyable experience so far, but definitely a little too hyped for what it really is. People who haven't heard about this should know before they buy that it's more of an interactive story than a game. One of the negatives about avoiding everything related to this game in case it contained spoilers is that you don't really know what to expect beforehand. If you enjoy apps that are 2 parts "experience", 1 part "game", then you'll get your money's worth. Just don't go into it expecting an epic RPG, or a long, in depth adventure game.
Ha! Those guys wouldn't know a good story if they paid fifty bucks for it. (Sorry, really wanted to throw that Monkey Island reference out there, no offense whatsoever Paradiso) S&S is highly experimental and, undoubtedly, not everyone is going to think it's the greatest thing since sliced bread. But it brings something incredibly fresh to the gaming table. Too pull this kind of game off with this much finesse is pretty rare. I know I sound like a broken record, but I truly believe we need more games like this out there. I'm hoping S&S helps push these kinds of ideas forward.
The game sounds intriguing. Unfortunately no iPad for me for another 3 weeks or so. With any luck, sooner. Having said that, I haven't ever finished a point and click adventure. I usually tire of them long before they are over because often there's no real logic to the solutions to the puzzles, so it's basically trial and error and a lot of wandering around aimlessly. Either that or I'm an idiot, and I can't rule that out completely.
According to their facebook page there is currently no plans for versions on any other platform other than iPhone/touch/iPad.
As far as I know, no one did. I'm only saying don't expect it to be, because it's not. Just giving people who've avoided your early review, and the upcoming thread a heads up. If I was new here, I wouldn't know what to make of it.
It's easy to mistaken this game as some epic rpg instead of an experience if they haven't done their research and go purely on screenshots.
I can see that happening, yeah. I'm sure there will be no shortage of people complaining that it wasn't what they wanted or expected. Far better to throw all expectations for S&S out the window and just dive in. But, who knows? Maybe, just maybe, someone buying the game with those kinds of epic RPG / adventure expectations will end up pleasantly surprised with the experience it provides. Wouldn't that be great?
Or even if they followed the intentionally vague marketing effort. This it more akin the artsy "Today I Die" than an traditional game. Sword & Sorcery is very cool for what it is, but mocking someone for pointing out what it isn't is a bit silly, when any reasonable person stumbling across it could easily assume it was a traditional RPG done up in pixel art.
Never know although it'd be hard for people buying iOS games to blindly plop down 5 bucks when most games are less.
Just started and having the same problem. Know I have to run like hell, which means a bit of backtracking so I can be sure of the running-away path. I wish I had a right brain sometimes.
@Capy_Nathan - One minor suggestion for an update - in Battle Mode it would be nice if there was an option to configure the positions of the sword and shield. (to a certain extent at least) At present they feel a bit too far down the screen, and too close to the edges for comfortably holding the iPad in portrait orientation. (IMO) There seems to be plenty of space on the lower 1/3 of the screen to move them around a little without getting in the way of the action. Just a thought.
I have no idea what the deal is with the moon Edit: does it really take a month to complete session 3?
