Yup. Sure would be nice to hear something official... someday... preferably soon... this year maybe. But looking at the slew of new app's up this month, I can't say I'm surprised. Too much noise on the app store right now. Still, an official release date would be nice.
How does releasing it now when eveeyone thought it woule come out annoy the fan base? Theyve done a good job doing just that by delaying it wo many times. If they have no confidence in their proeuct and competition ppl wont get it whether now, january, or whenever.
There has been no marketing for this title for the holiday season. It would not be expected to compete with the bigger named companies that have released multiple titles during the holiday season. Whats more, some of the titles that are even in the same genre have had a huger following than this game. Its a smarter move to add more polish and release during a week when there are not as many big named titles releasing.
I'm sure the devs are working as hard as possible to get this released as soon as possible. If you're truly interested in the game then have patience. You wouldn't want devs to rush and meet deadlines that apparently were inappropriate because then you get an unfinished product. If someone said (I didn't read all the comments) something along the lines of devs not posting ETA's if they can't meet them - I agree with that but I see it both ways. If they dont post an ETA at all then we start to wonder if it will ever come out and we have a tendency to pressure them for one... With an ETA that comes and goes but with the devs constantly reassuring us that they are working their hardest to get it out as soon as possible, we know its still in the works and it will one day be released.
All I can say is: please keep the faith. we're almost there. It took us a long time to get to where we are now. We honestly wish we could have had it out sooner, especially for the people that have been interested and supportive from day one. But it took a much longer time, and although we're sorry it did, we think it's helped us make something more in line with the vision we always had for it. Instead of putting out something that we were 'meh' about, we'll be putting out something we're proud of. So, yea. Thanks to those that continue to support, and apologies for the wait.
Thanks for the info Capy. Sounds like January at best, folks. Argh! My Christmas wishes... DESTROYED!
He didn't. But it obviously isn't coming out this month, right? So, January at best, possibly later than that.
You shouldn't apologize for doing the right thing I'll be there clicking on the Buy button the day of its release, whenever it will be...
@Nathan: yeah, i second the positive opinions here- there's no point in rushing it out- quality takes time. Really looking forward to S&S:EP, hope that it turns out well!
I guess I'm just a little confused on where the game is in it's development cycle then. If you follow the fine folks involved with the game on Twitter, it almost sounds like everyone is kind of done with S:S&S EP and maybe moving on to other projects. If the game is being delayed quite a bit longer, is new content being added? Is it just additional polish? Is it just bug hunting at this point? Or perhaps the game IS done and the timing for release was wrong? I'm just trying to riddle out a possible time frame for release while waiting I suppose. Yeah, I know, it will be done when it is done and released when it is released. I'm OK with that. Still, can't help but wonder how much longer the wait will be. STILL super excited to play it. Comments Nathan?
We're definitely not done with S&S yet - though we all feel its quite close. We're neck deep in the 'bugs & polish' phase of development as we speak, and its playtest time galore. Everyone on the S&S team is still 100% full steam ahead on iron out any little kink we find, and animating various pixels for your eyeball enjoyment. Also, Jim is still chained to his music machines, and we wont let him out until we have more tunes than we can use
Yup, could quite possibly be later. The wait for this game has been brutal, so I'm just trying to keep folks optimistic about the game being released, hopefully sooner than later. Thanks for the update Capy! Any word on progress is great news! Though, perhaps I feel a bit bad for Jim, being chained up and all. Just remember to unlock the shackles for Christmas, or at least leave him some bread and water for the holiday.
