This! But I hope for an official port...art assets and setting of Clash of Heroes is really really good. Videos and trailers of the upcoming 'HD' version are stellar imho, I really hope to see it as it is on iOS devices someday... The actual App Store clone is pretty bad imho. A bit sad, if true, for the S&S timeline...one of my most desired game...
An update was added to the article I posted earlier: "Sword & Sworcery EP is being released for the iPhone and iPad, and Craig Adams claims itÂ’s about 96.7% done. [Update from the man himself!]" Wooohooo! Of course... that last 10% of finishing a game is always the hardest / longest. Still, thank goodness it's not "half way done" as stated in the earlier article. I still have hope this will be released this year. *crossing fingers mightily*
I'm thinking it can also be your most anticipated game of 2011! Wooo! I guess we'll see. I've been stalking this game forever. FOREVER. Totally subjective prediction: It's either going to 'up the ante' for games on idevices or be mired in it's own artistic pretension. I'm hoping for the former and not the latter, of course.
the superbrothers quote from that article is relatively accurate - we're QA'ing, fixing and polishing 24/7 nowadays. If you're around a TV, there's lots of new footage on Electric Playground today. We're not trying to up any ante at all - that's sort of setting the bar extremely high for us We're trying to make an interesting, artistic experience for iOS players. Whether we succeed or fail, there's no pretension here... just intention. Often they are easily confused, but all we hope is that people check out the game and decide for themselves We wouldn't do that, sorry. It's far too shady.
I suppose we're talking about an USA TV program...any chance to see the footage in Europe or on the net (I mean, not only game footage...interviews and the like).
It's actually a Canadian program, but it airs in the states. All episodes get posted online a while after they air, i believe here: http://www.elecplay.com/
The EP episode probably won't be available on their site for a while. I am hopeful for tomorrow, but it might not be up until Monday. Currently, EP doesn't air in the USA. They will start airing on US TV, if I recall correctly, on December 1st. Either way, can't wait to see the S:SS EP show. It's a pretty good program to watch outside of the S:SS EP info besides! On another note here is a little snippet from Craig Adam's Twitter feed: "We're getting closer to announcing a bona fide release date, so hang in there! " Hell yeah. Keepin' hope alive! And a bit funnier Tweet from Craig in response to a somewhat impatient fan, just for fun: "We're porting it to the Panasonic Jungle! And yes, confimed: the graphics will appear on your retinas. " Almost there guys and gals! Now if we could just get a confirmed December release date, THAT would be a beautiful thing.
The S:SS EP episode from Electric Playground is now up on their website for your viewing pleasure! http://www.elecplay.com/#
"Any news or cool tidbits?" LOTS of new footage I hadn't seen before. Just watching these little bits gets me excited for this game all over again. It looks as incredible as it ever has. Seriously sends chills up my spine. They are really trying not to give anything away in terms of plot or story as exploration is a HUGE part of S:SS EP. Personally, I'm glad they aren't giving much away. I like to dig in on my own and make my own assumptions. I'm glad they are leaving it to us to interpret. As for any new news on release, the host of the show, Victor Lucas, simply said "Look for S:SS EP on the AppStore very soon". Yeah... I know... but hey, I really think we can hold Craig to his promise of a REAL release date pretty soon here. Also, I think a new screenshot was put up on the S:SS EP site today.
Well it looks like the battle system has changed so that's good. If this can be simply fun, and not just a tech art demo then I think it'll be worth the wait. It might end up being the true iOS Zelda I've been waiting for. If, and a big IF, it ever gets released.
Thats how real games get made not in 2 months like rage with carmack only devoting 10 % of his time or in 4 months like the soon to be disappointing infinity blade. Just take a look at the dev process of ico: http://www.unseen64.net/2008/04/11/ico-playstation-1-prototype/
This is a game I will be getting the moment it comes out, and as an artist and quite used to the obtuseness of contemporary art, I wouldn't really mind if it is too 'arty'; as long as the exploration is as deep as they say.
Really looking forward to the iPad version. Hopefully it releases during the holiday. Big fan of the art style they used.
I think all the Zelda comparisons may be a little much. Was some inspiration draw from Zelda? Certainly. But I wouldn't expect that exact kind of experience from S:SS EP. For myself, I'm not really worried about the fun factor. I'm sure it will be a fantastic experience for me. Here's another snippet from Craig's Twitter: "Hop onto the Teletex or keep following this here Twitter, we'll be making noise about release before too long." To me, it sounds like they already have a date in mind, but can't completely commit to it until all the bugs have been squashed and the final coat of polish is on. But I really do think it's close to being done.
