Erik, i'm feeling the same enthusiasm as you are; definitely watching the trailer from S&S gives the impression that something big is going to happen, and it hints at so much depth. I'm really looking forward to it, and hope that it lives up to the hype! (Although i'm pretty certain that it will!)
Erik, I couldn't express my 'grown up' gamer feelings better than this (married, 1 son, too little time to play, big gamer since Commodore Vic-20 too). I really hope S&S will be something immersive and different...something I really cannot say about the majority of games out there...almost all seem identical to me, aside from texturing. It's good to see someone else sharing my feelings...I'll tell my wife
I hope this game will be good, really good and different, but you are too exited, and thats not really good (for anything)
I'm excited not only for the game, but for what it represents to the industry, a concept that may be lost on some. Too excited? Well, if you say so. Ahh Cilo. Still following the thread? Good. Make sure you buy S&S IF it comes out. Your money is as valid as anybodies. In the mean time, feel free to skip my posts while broadening your horizons. Hopefully you will "get it", someday.
Hey, I think this thread should be renamed to "What do you think about ErikTheRed?" thread, hehe Ok, joking aside, it's good to know someone can be this excited for an indie game like this. It just make me smile to know there's an adult that find his long forgotten youthfulness. Erik just radiates positiveness and enthusiasm for me, so even if this game somehow doesn't exceed the expectations when it comes out, I won't regret having this euphoria that I once used to have when waiting for a new zelda game (although, I still am ). Especially he likes to use smileys, don't you guys just love this man? (in a platonic kind of way of course) C: Emm, I'm sorry if I creep you out, sir. I hope my English is understandable.
Capy's iOS title Superbrothers: Sword & Sworcery EP has maintained its approximate iPad release date of "vernal equinox" (March 21) and now we have further audio and iPhone launch details. Capy's Nathan Vella told us at PAX East that two weeks after the iPad launch that the company will release a vinyl LP of the game's music (at Bandcamp). Don't worry if the words "vinyl LP" don't mean a thing to you, the music will also be available at iTunes. The iPhone version will launch "a month" after the iPad version (or two weeks after the LP, depending on how you want to tell time). The only difference between the iPad and iPhone versions will be the resolution and a couple dollars in price. from Joystiq
Wouldn't the resolution be higher on the iphone? Or is it the other way around because of screen size on the pad? @erik Just so you know, I am purchasing this game IF it comes out, I thought I had mentioned that. Anyway I hope you realize I'm completely joking with you. There's nothing to "get" yet, it isn't out, and if you mean "get" a appreciation for art, well art is subjective, so what you "get" may not be what I "get". Either way tell your lovers at Superbrothers to release it so we can all "get" something.
Its coming out a MONTH later??? That's a long time for having virtually no differences. I guess it's ok, though. I'll buy it as a birthday gift to myself if its coming out ~April 22.
I have to admit I kind of thought Erik was either a fanboy gone too far or someone hired by the developers to drum up interest, and I might have left a snide comment or two about it. However after reading what you wrote (and paraphrased) about modern games, and growing up I realised we are pretty similar, so, fair play man, stick to your guns. I'm looking forward to this just as much as you, and I hope the game lives up to our expectations. I can't think of a better game to grace my new iPad when I get it.
So what are the diffences between the iPad and iPhone versions? There has to be some or why the delay?
As far as core game play, I don't think there are any differences. The delay is for additional Q&A for the iPhone version. They are having to test on multiple hardware versions for the iPhone / touch vs a single (at the time) iPad version. If they really are testing and optimizing all the way back to 2G, I see the reason for the delay. They are just trying to make it a good experience for everyone. Plus there is the issue of manpower. It's not like the S&S team is 1000 strong. They are actually a pretty small indie company, so, it may take a little longer. But they will get it done right and that's what is important.
Ya, i REALLY hope it turns out well, although the good thing about the app store, and also about the S&S project specifically is that user feedback can and does influence how a game gets tuned. Even if ver 1.0 doesn't satisfy users, devs can then go back and make substantial changes, unlike previously if games were released on cartridges and CD/DVDs on offline systems, like back in the day. I say S&S specifically, in light of the recent news that they pulled such a fast one on us, monitoring feedback from the initial reveal trailer, before making the majority of the game, using it to shape what that game would ultimately become. Great experiment, and i hope it works out for Capy et al!
Ah, I see! I have a 2g touch so this is good news! Fair play to them, the game will be great I'm sure. In fact I am buying critter crunc to support capy!
this thread is 33% about world hunger, different crisis etc, 33% about S S&S EP, and 33% about if ErikTheRed works for Superbrothers or not. then 1% mods telling us to talk about S S&S EP
Just relax, it will be out soon. Probably about a month later then the Ipad version. So next month if we are lucky.
