Why did you have to be so sarcastic? A lot of us can't afford $19.99 games, so getting them for free would be mutually beneficial for all sides.
Making a 20 buck game free because people simply can't afford it would be a very good way to screw the people who bought it, and they wouldn't make money anymore that way. Also, if you can afford an iDevice, you also can afford a game that is 10 times as cheap as the device. So, back to the game itself. I can understand the hype about this game. It's truly fantastic and everything feels just right: The controls, the music, the graphics. Pick it up if you don't already have it, very cool freebie.
What others have said. Would you expect to see, say, Dishonored free on a console? Or even the console version of Xcom? High, premium cost games are not and should never be put into this category. Although I think S&S to be one of the best games on the platform, and while I hate to see it go free, I look at the company in which it sits and it just makes me happy to see it being amongst such awesome company. Anyway, high prices games shouldn't go free. It cheapens the platform, and only makes sense when it is paired with, say, subscription services such as PS+ or Xbox Live. This isn't a charity, I'm sorry you can't afford it, but again... Not a charity, sorry. Download this game if you haven't already. It's quirky and maybe some people would see it as a bit pretentious, but for those who can just accept it for the awesomeness that it is, you'll be able to enjoy one of the coolest ideas for a game ever.
I guess I'll be banned if I ever use the words "XCOM" and "free" in the same sentence around here again. EDIT: By the way, this game is not avaliable on my App Store (Brazil).
Actually that isn't a bad idea, you and metalcasket, you handle action, EP and I will tackle strategy and uhh... Lol
