I've been playing a lot of multiplayer, both modes and I have a few issues with the turn-based mode. I put up a post a few pages back about the 'competitiveness' turn based mode lacks. I would like to suggest an enhanced version of turn based mode that is tuned for those who are more 'hardcore' about the game and will be investing major time. What I would like I see in the potential mode would be: (1) Real Golf Rules: SMG turn based mode doesn't follow real golf rules. But it makes sense because golf rules will drastically increase the amount of time it takes to play a game. However, this also greatly increased the rounds competitiveness. (2) Removal of certain power ups from Turn Based mode. Mainly, the mulligan as it allows for shots to be completely redone with no penalty. I feel that the mulligan is a crutch that is hurting the turn based gameplay by allowing player to take attempts on shot they mess up on. Another ball I recommend removing would be the magnet ball. This ball is also used as a crutch for those with poor putting or chipping skills. If noodle cake was able to do these things, I feel that the new 'competitive' turn based mode was be an absolute winner. What does everyone else think?
Does anyone know what the "pink turban" hat does? It says "sticky sand," but sand is already sticky...
I wonder if there's any interest in creating a list of all the hats and there effects? Should probably be in a different thread (in general section?) since it would be a spoiler.
Leader boards are pretty similar to async multiplayer with the exception that your playing the whole course at your leisure. Having IAP options to keep shooting shots completely kills the purpose of leaderboard chasing. I'm really disappointed with this aspect.
I'm all for more serious modes, but I think the mulligan has it's place. I can just imagine people giving up on long multiplayer games because they just royally screwed up. Imagine how hard it might end up to find good competition. Maybe just remove hats (if that's not already an option, I've only played single player mode thus far) and the other special balls. So it's more pure golf but still that mulligan will keep folks from just rage quitting when they totally mess up a hole and don't want to continue down the slope to an inevitable loss. Again, not familiar with multiplayer yet, but maybe the option of an 18 hole match where each player picks 9 holes. That might make for an interesting experience.
Just add a hardcore multiplayer mode as an option. no power ups. hats ineffective (would still like to wear them b/c they are cool) I would think this would be decently easy to throw in? Also, a multiplayer mode that pulls random holes from each course would be neat. AND a daily tournament or something, for bux. I could keep going on and on ha
Could i ask once more is anyone here having any problems with sound on the new ipad like sometimes not getting sound effects in multiplayer online or local or is it just myself and Boudecea. If its just us then am prepared to delete and move on.
I don't know man. Golf gets a bad rap. I've been playing golf for about 6 months now, and it all happened by mistake. I've known people who have been golfing for 3 or more years and I never tried it because I thought it was lame. Turns out, I got bored one day and me and a buddy decided to hit the links. We had a blast. Now we play whenever we can, with me personally hitting the course just about everyday. Sometimes even multiple times. There's just something about the mental aspect if it that makes it fun.
I disagree. The mulligan is killing the turn based aspect of the game for me. Golf is mainly a mental game and two of the biggest aspects of the mental game (1) Doing good under pressure and not screwing up. (2) Making decisions based upon your opponent. I honestly would not mind if the mulligan stayed in this theoretical 'hardcore' mode if it followed golf rules and didn't reset the stroke count. Which should solve the rage quit problem you mentioned on getting stranded on tougher holes.
I reinstalled it on my iPad and the iCloud syncing is working now but not syncing the golfer & hat I chose but more importantly its not syncing the bux.
Maybe the ultimate multi-player mode is just a user config option where the person that sets up the game has the ability to choose which features are enabled/disabled. I think that would be cool. Everybody wins. Still an 18 hole mode where each player can pick the holes, or a complete random option for the levels in the competition would be cool.
Er.. not sure if this would go in before someone else posted but just wanted to say CONGRATS to the dev... SSG2 is #2 top paid apps right now in iTunes. I think that's awesome.
Please Noodlecake, make a multiplayer mode (hardcore, pro, purist or whatever you wanna call it) with: no hat's effect / no power up's. And that mode mentioned up here in this thread sounds great too, 18 hole game. But I think a random selection for that mode is the best option.
I'm looking to pick up a game or two this weekend. The original never really hooked me in. It seemed like a good game but I think I just had so many games going at the time that it didn't make the cut. Is this one that much better? Different?
I'll be posting an absolute bunch of stuff like that on my site, but obviously not until I've got many more hours of gameplay out of my system.
I've convinced over 10 people at my school to buy it, spent the last 2 days before spring break killing our time in "race mode". Absolutely love it, and the game promotes itself.
Still no iCloud syncing here. iPhone 4S 6.1.2 and iPad 2 6.1.2. Hitting the sync button in settings gives me error messages.
I think you don't understand this game. There are plenty of more realistic golf games available, how could you expect real world golf rules with these courses, it makes no sense and defeats the spirit of the game.
