Yup. Looks like 3rd time is the charm. Finally unlocked..... not sure what was different about this one, though.
I need cash! I'm broke. What are the options for getting some (without paying) once you've collected all that you can from the courses? All I can see is from achievements, multiplayer wins, and the occasional bonus goal. I've already got 50/60 achievements. Between "Your session has disconnected," quitters, and freezing, race mode is proving acquiring a bank roll difficult. Completing a turn play match quickly against random players isn't very reliable, and I'd probably noob it up against the few GC friends that I have. I think the amount of cash you need to get a high probability for a new hat when there's only 3 left is way too much. I went broke rolling the dice on a 51% for 130 bucks. Apologies for the overall negative feel of this, everyone, including myself already knows how incredible the game is. I only feel that I've hit a wall that I don't think should be there before unlocking all hats.
"noob it up" HAHA well said. That was most definitely me for the first two days! I've gotten a bit better since then though, not much mind you. I've steered mostly clear of the online race mode due to the once again, ever present non-host game lag. I'm really enjoying Turn Based Multiplayer as I can still get a competitive fix in through the day without having to commit enough time to complete a full course in one go and have been earning plenty of cash from it. Most importantly, there is NO game lag in Turn based multiplayer. As far as getting the last few hats goes, I think you're far better off grinding away and saving your Bux until you've got enough for a 100% chance. By the way, well done on your -20 for Impossible Land! Last night I was sitting at -14 for hole 9 but then crapped out for a -8 and that was with the Pope Hat! Yikes....
Thanks, definitely wasn't going for perfection though, so I was surprised by how well I fared. Did that before level 15 with the propeller hat. I only really used 2 powerups and the rest mulligans. Supered up to the top bunk on 3 and swapped the water out on 9. As for the lotto, yeah, that was my first time not getting a hat. Only did high 80's and 90's up until that one. I only really need 1 more- wizard, so I saw how steep the price of admission had gotten and tried a coin flip. Not again
Fairly happy with this because it gives me my last Gold Star. There is still plenty of improvement to be made on that though as it's still AT LEAST 8 shots away from a perfect score. EDIT: oh yeah, just in case you're wondering, I didn't use a single Mulligan. EDIT: I got a -28 just after posting this.
I dont think Ill have nearly enough money to get the last 2 hats. I have 2 courses left and thats 40 bucks right there and I only have 20 saved..60 is nowhere enough to get anywhere close to 100%. I dont play multilayer so I may be out of luck for the last 2.
A simple design suggestion. Don't put the resign button directly next to the play button. It's really easy to accidentally pressed the wrong one.
I'm thinking the same is going to happen to me because early on I didn't realize I could just keep upping the $ until it got to 100%. So I wasted a good $60 or more on random chances. Some of the high scores online seem a bit extreme. -183 on the first tour is the top score... there's only 182 strokes in the first Tour. Is there a hat or something that turns on - targets in the sky or something other hat that allows for such a score, or is it just cheating? I would have thought the best possible score wouldn't even be as low as -146 since some holes are pretty much impossible without a second hit even with the hat that gives 15% more power.
Dang. I was hoping there was just something I hadn't uncovered like a hat that turned on +/- stroke icons floating in the sky. Any tips on that very first course, Grassy Land. I have managed to get to -25, but matching your -29 seems really beyond my current unlocked abilities. I had been using the Silver Ruby Crown because of the extra powerup but the Strong Man 'Stache with it's 15% more power seems to have helped get to a few holes that before were at best a two stroke finish.
All the Grassy Land holes are hole in oneable, I think you'll definitely need to use the Nitro Ball for some of them. At least, that's what I used. I haven't unlocked the Super Ball yet, not sure if that ball makes it easier. I had the hat equipped that gives you one extra power.
Trying to get all the Bux on Magnet Land and there is one I cannot find. Must be hidden somewhere. Does anyone have any ideas?
Thanks. I'm at level 11, so a few levels to go before hitting 15 and getting the Nitro Ball. That aught to make getting better scores possible. I had been playing with the goal of getting all 3 awards (Gold, Clean Ball, Big Bux) for each level and then trying to get my best score possible before moving on... maybe I'll skip ahead and just play each level for gold and then come back for the other stuff after I've leveled up. Super Ball seems to be lower level on the list than Nitro. Not sure though which is better... but I'm at 17/60 Achievements so just 3 to go to get that one. Maybe I'll challenge my son in race mode tonight to finish that up.
I could use some help figuring out the Impossibly Possible achievement, which requires you to get a hole in one on hole 3 of Impossible Land. It's the only achievement that I need (aside from unlock all hats and unlock all characters). I've tried everything I can think of...Super Ball bounce off the wall, Super Ball angled just right to land softly on the green, Nitro Ball triple jump, etc. I have come very, very close, but I don't think I could alter my shot any more than I have to make it work. Can someone give me a (spoilered) hint?
Sorry, I got the Super and Nitro balls mixed up. It's the Super Ball I used to get -29 on Grassy, which as you say is unlocked after you earn 20 achievements. I've only just reached level 12 myself.
Fun game, enjoyed the first and loving that this has turn based multiplayer it in. Does the developer read this thread, I have a couple things I'd appreicate in an update. 1) A chat feature in turn based multiplayer. 2) Option to have 3 person matches. More than that might be a bit much but even one additional player would be fun. 3) Ability to send invite to one person on my GC list, rather than spamming them all. 4) Have the game skip forward to the actual swing in the turn based multiplayer preview. I want to watch my friend make their move but pressing the fast forward button all the time gets a bit much. Want to just want them swing rather than all the lead up to that swing. 5) Ability to tweak game set up by having the option to turn off powerups as well has randomly assigning a couple to ALL the players (in addition to the current set up). Thanks again, awesome game.
These are all excellent suggestions, so consider these times two! Number 3 is especially important to me because I refuse to spam my friends for any game, so I only have a couple people that I'm playing regularly because I just hit rematch. Number 4 is also a good suggestion because the way that the fast forward button works now, it's basically useless. It turns off after every swing? That's just silly. If I wanted to turn it off, I would just push it again. Anyway...great game! I've done basically everything I can in the solo mode. I'm just going back to improve my scores now. As others have mentioned, I've hit a bux paywall at this point. I need 3 more hats, but it costs 150 bux just to guarantee a 50% shot at a new hat. That's a crazy amount, considering I can only earn a couple bux per online match. At this rate, I would need 450 more matches to have enough bux to try for the hats I need. I've also slowed down my level ups, so I doubt I'll ever reach level 60. It's just too tedious.
Makes sense. I went ahead and powered through unlocking all the courses and completed a couple other achievements along the way (Par'ing Laser Lab, for instance)... which got me to 20 Achievements and the Super Ball (which now makes 21 Achievements). Just hit Level 13, so not too far off of 15... though that last course in the #5 Pro tour is just a beast. I think I'll need all my power ups to stand a chance. My best score is 33. Not -33, 33 over par. So right now there are 3 courses I don't have medals on (last course in the 3, 4 & 5 tours), I have all but 5 hats (missing: Santa Hat, Orange Ball Cap, Space Helmet, Pope Hat, & Gold Royal Crown). I only have 14 Bux, because I bought another hat at 100% and I think that clocked in at around 50 bux. I think I might be able to lock in 3 hats with the remaining Bux to earn through the levels... but I think I'll struggle to get those last two. Nitro Ball is the only Powerup left for me to unlock. Really this was well worth my buck... but, man I wish there were more courses. Maybe an endless mode with randomly generated simple levels like in 9 Iron Ninja (which is free, but with IAP for score saving) could be possible? I can just see hitting the wall very soon where I see I've done all I bid the game a fond farewell as I move on with little desire to replay it.
This game is so great! I ended up buying the 25 asynch slots and the XP doubler (that latter just recently). It still seems cheap for all the value I get out of this game. GOTW easily for me.
