Yes, I'd use the extra time to get promo codes to more review sites. Also so the "opening weekend" thing is not too long or too confusing. Also because we've been saying a Friday for a long time now. We'll see if this is actually worth doing, and probably come up with something else for the next game. By that time the Rocketcatalog should be more advanced, so we can just use that to instantly give news updates to whoever's playing one of our games. Then we can release a game with less coordination.
lol I like how that Zombiegame description says "frequent content updates" then you scroll down about to "new in this version" and it says update 2. The game was released over a year ago, not exactly frequent updates
Not to answer for Kepa, but I'll answer (for Kepa). I think he has stated that the zombie game in question was Rocketcat's attempt to learn how the appstore/iTunes/Apple submission procedures and standards worked. It's considered (again, I believe this is what Kepa has said) an amateur effort before Rocketcat joined the pros and made Hook Champ. Sort of like Stanley Kubrick disavowing 'Fear and Desire' and considering 'Killer's Kiss' as his first proper film. Sorry but any chance I get to make an obscure SK reference, I have to take.
Yep. We did one before Zombiegame, also, but for that one we literally just ported a friend's flash game. Just to see how the app store worked. Zombiegame was our very first foray (on any platform) into art, game design, interacting with customers, contacting reviewers, etc. A surprising amount of feedback on ZG made it into Hook Champ. Hook Champ was still an amateur effort. We made it on weekends. It's also our first "proper game", in that when you compare it side by side to a quick Flash game, it's bigger. We have high standards as to what a proper game is, I guess. The "frequent content updates" thing kind of goes out the window if a game makes 200 dollars, total. I am pretty proud of the idea of the weapon switching system: it's from a discarded game we were going to make starring the Rocketcat. Still, I don't recommend that anyone buys Zombiegame, ever. It's why it's not on our website/catalog.
Kepa, a question for you. (I tweeted it to you, but I don't think you responded...) Will the purchase history be stored by UDID of our devices or OpenFeint account? Because what if we get the new iPhone 4 when it comes out, but we don't get the hats? Or multiple devices and just takes a while to get it onto the other device.
Hey, to answer for Kepa, he said earlier that OF will store your save file, IDK about the udid thing tho... definently by OF tho!
It's UDID to start, I believe. In an early patch, we're putting in OpenFeint saves, which should handle that problem pretty well.
