I really dont liked the name of the game"QuickHook" but Super Quick Hook is better... Sounds like super mario or something also i like the new guy.. What he have that the people dont like it..?
Oh, there's still shop upgrades, just not for the hook speed/rope. Most of the upgrades from Hook Champ remain, but with some changes to add items for new things, like the sliding mechanic. The rope+hook in SQH is almost as fast as the cursed/laser/ultra hooks are in Hook Champ.
I'm with you too, I really just got into Hook Champ well yesterday. I had finally figured out to play it decently, I'm actually quite excited for the spiritual sequel. But bring back the main dude, he reminds me of Indy and that was massive appeal to me.
Knowing that, I can rest easy. To be honest, after watching the video you posted, I was a little worried - but then I realized - hook champ looks like ass on youtube too, and it plays like a dream in reality. Good luck with finishing the game, kepa - I'll be picking it up on day one.
I agree. This version looks so much better. As a few people commented on the animation looking more 8-bit than 16-bit, I was thinking perhaps a subtle "airwalk" movement as he swings. Basically animate his legs as though they're running in slow-mo. The swing is currently the only thing that looks odd to me because he's solid as a rock through the entire movement.
Just reiterating what's already been said, really. That type of animation suited Hook Champ, but now the graphics have been upgraded, it looks horrible. - The rocket jump type thing looks a bit odd, like she's farting snow. - The levels look kinda plain, no real points of interest or nicely detailed graphics. I don't know if they're unfinished, or just don't look great in the video, but the environment looks pretty bland. - As already mentioned, the player characters don't look great, especially the male one. - It looks like you're being pursued by a white jelly rather than an avalanche due to that wobbling animation. I think it needs more texture, and maybe more particles, rather than just a big white gelatinous shape. And could possibly due with being angled like \ rather than a mostly vertical shape. This post may seem overly critical, but only because I want this game to be as amazing as HC. =)
1. the rocket animation could use some help 2. the white thing that reflects the motion behind the character could be better (i love hook champ's, which is kinda blueish and leaves trail of jake/gunny behind) 3. another background other than white-gray mountain 4. keep the upgrades system please 5. the small floating platform above for swinging could use some help I also noticed when he slides the white motion thingy is still full body sized going to buy this game 1st day
Lots of great feedback. I'm glad we did this early trailer. The criticism should be pretty valuable as we polish things up over this month. Yeah, working on the animations is a recurring theme. I figure we'll have to double the animation frames, at least. 1. The "rocket jump" is actually a steam geyser. It's hard to see in the video, but there's geysers of steam you can run into that propel you as shown. 2. It's hard to notice when playing, but stark in the video. We're going over the environments and adding more detail. 3. I thought the guy was pretty solid, but everyone prefers the old Jake mockup we did. We'll look into this. 4. This one surprises me. I liked the avalanche. We can try to tweak the animation to be less wobbly, but the other stuff goes into maximum performance considerations. 2. I'll need to dig up why we made that change. I noticed the half-sized bug, too. 3. Planned, just didn't show it in the trailer. 4. Upgrades system is still in, we just replaced the specific rope and hook upgrades with something else. We thought it was important that everyone has the same playing field in terms of rope length and hook speed. 5. What do you mean? The ruins-blocks thing?
The trailer didnt show monsters. Theyre not in the current build yet? Will you instantly die from them or do you have a certain amount of hp? Perhaps able to buy items (a jacket?) to be able to handle more hits?
That, and it sticks out like a sore thumb against the pixel graphics. Unless it's some sort of outer-worldly demon, I'd hope it could be redone in something that matches the rest of the game's art. As for the jump, you could always do legs-up, Pitfall Harry style: (Oh, man that sounds dirty, doesn't it! )
I agree, I like the original mock-up that was posted. In the trailer, I don't understand why the head is so far to the right of his shoulder. It makes the head look really disembodied.
Kepa i thought that this game was going to be like canabalt too.. Jumping .., upgrading your jump.. But in the trailer it seems that only its hooking :/
I really hope this game isn't how it looks likely to end up. Even if it is an amazing run as far as you can game, it's gonna be a mighty fall from the outstandingly brilliant Hook Champ
Omg ! This game isn't even made and many people are talking baddly about it :/ kepa i reccomend you to improve it.. Not in a month maybe more time to make it better ...i dont really see anything bad in it...
Custumization? Is there going to be more clothes that we can buy to change up the characters? I really liked that feature in hookchamp. I like the idea of new characters and what if the avalanche changed maybe into like magma or pile of rocks depending on location?
Yeah I'd like for Jake to be in this game, so much better looking and it will bring back the good times of hooking with him in Hook Champ. He doesn't have to be the main character, he can be an unlockable, I'd just love to be able to play someone cooler looking.
