It's both. That is, there's a bunch of levels with an exploration element. You can also replay those levels to race through them as fast as you can. There's leaderboards, achievements and many unlocks, to encourage you to master both the exploration and speed elements. There's also Avalanche Mode, which completely satisfies the pick up and play side. It's a random, endless mode where you have to run from a crushing avalanche. There's 60+ different possible section types, with alternate secret paths. Our single mode in SQH has more depth and variety than most "pick up and play" games have in their entirety. Then there's the stuff people loved in Hook Champ. Dialog (though it's moved to the shop this time), a variety of upgrades you can buy (I think we have 10 or so different types this time around, most with 4 different levels), and cosmetic stuff (hats, characters, and now how your grappling hook looks). Working on the newest trailer right now.
GAAAAAAAAAA, this wait is killing me. I've been checking this thread nonstop for a few days now, haha.
I have 1 question; will it be OS 3.0 compatible? I might go through the hassle of updating (I'm jailbroken) if it isn't.
Kepa, Speaking of Hook Champ, Will SQH have curses (or cursed chasers) on idols or even idols at all for that matter.
We have a "no sales" policy, for a few reasons. SQH is going to have an early buyer's discount, and otherwise no sales. Hook Champ was similar, so no sales are going to happen for that.

It doesn't no. Avalanche is the 'chaser' mode. It's the equivalent. Instead of a monster though, its a wall of snow following you. The races, or time trials, don't have any sense of urgency besides beating the time. They are more like exploration to find everything (especially all the coins), then race to beat the time. There are secrets to find for achievements and everything. Edit : I realize you were asking Kepa, but I thought I'd help out. This is based on having played the game, not just talking from previews.
This and the other reply were right. It's a different setting than Hook Champ's. There's no idols/chaser. It's either you exploring for treasure and secrets with unique art, with scores based on doing this as fast as possible, or you running from a crushing, endless avalanche over a similarly endless, random level. On release, there's 17 exploration/racing levels, and one Endless mode. This is already pretty meaty, as the levels tend to be longer than Hook Champ's. Much like Hook Champ, we're going to have level updates, and we're even going to have mode updates.
Is there a chance that this will release this weekend? Just wondering because I'm going to be gone till' Sunday night with no WI Fi and I don't want to miss out on the first day hat/mask.
I haven't yet had a chance to try Hook Champ - is the learning curve easy enough to pick up this game first?
Don't think so. The next game I BELIEVE is a brand new series. You never know though.... Hopefully. However considering that's its a totally NEW app, approval time MAY be different. The first few sets of levels are designed to let you "learn the ropes" so to speak. It does get mire challenging for sure, but at a pace that you could adapt to.
