You have to play (or at least check out the level select screen) the first day, yes. However, you don't need internet access on that first day. It'll just award you the hat, based on your first play date, whenever you can get to a wifi spot or whatever.
Doing extra polish today. No show-stopping bugs so far, new challenge system seems to work fine. Submitting either late tomorrow or early Sunday. Then we're working on the first update, as we wait for it to be approved for sale. I want to shoot for weekly updates, for about a month. After that, I'd like to settle into a consistent update schedule, every 2 weeks or so. New levels and shop items, mostly.
Glad you guys are taking your time to get it all right. Hope you guys put that lassooing effect in, as an item i think would be great.
I really don't miss the hook twirling at all. The sound of it could get somewhat irritating; when I finally got Gunny's 3k hook I was surprised how thankful I was for the silence.
About 8 hours ago from Twitter: "Beta testers found a pretty massive Avalanche Mode bug. Game breaking massive. Still, looks fixable. Should be submitting tomorrow. " Hopefully this bug isn´t that big and can be remedied quickly!
Oh, it was a pretty huge bug. Required a lot of overhauls. Basically, if you waited for the avalanche to hit the biggest possible speed, then got a phone call or closed the game, you could sometimes come back to a bugged avalanche. The avalanche would get frozen to a certain point relative to you, and never advance. This meant that you could go as far as you wanted in the endless avalanche mode, without fear of dying. This was a huge bug, and I'm glad the beta test group caught it. I'll post to Twitter -and- to this thread the second we submit the game. I hate to keep posting estimates that get broken, but I also refuse to submit a buggy game. I hate that crap, personally. There's been some recent games I was really looking forward to, sunk by bugs.
That´s sad to hear, hopefully it doesn´t take long to get submitted! But I can totally understand not wanting to submit a bugged game. We can wait, but it´s getting harder every day!
