High score-wise, you will definitely want to get all of the coins, regardless of how fast you can get ahead by skipping a few.
Magma Ruins just destroys me. I get to that last ledge you can stand on at ~80% and then manage to panic as I'm trying to catch the final few tiny hook spots. I've seen the statues at the end ONCE. Buy Rocket Boots and upgrades for it ASAP. You can then get back up there to keep hooking.
It's got less of a learning curve than Hook Champ, but it's still there. I often think that the concept is just a little too "out there" for the platform. We'll be taking the grappling hook thing in a more traditional direction for future games. One important concept: the best way to maintain momentum is to never touch the ground. There's a segment in the tutorial (the alligator pool bit) that tries to teach this. Long tunnel with no floor. Depending on what point you let go during the swing, you can fling yourself in ways that give you control over your altitude, while still keeping top speeds. Ideally, you should never be running. The goal of the levels are to reach the finish line. Loot collection gives you more points and spending money. Replaying the levels to collect all the loot in the fastest time possible lets you attempt to beat Developer Scores. Doing this just unlocks new cosmetic items, including a new character.
lol, SQH levels are so much easier than levels in HC. In therms of finishing them, but also for highscores. I believe that HalfbrickPhil just automatically tries to slice instead of simple touch, when he uses a hook.
Will there be new upgrades In the shop. I think there should be a radar upgrade and when it's max you get a map that shows you where u r and the coins around you. And when u pause there's a gigant map.
The game already gives you hints about coin location. Stalagmite=rocket boots. Stalactite=stop hooking and fall.
Wohoo, finally some scores on the global list. I never thought I'd get there. But those top scores are just mad.
well their update just came out, no harm if devs play games a map revealing everything would take up visual space and be waaaaaaaaaaay to easy
I think what we might do later is some sort of Jet Car Stunts style spectate-someone's-run mode. The technology is already 80% in there (you can even see the video icons in OpenFeint), we just need to wait for a quiet, small update so we can finish it. That makes it a long ways off, if we get to it. Update 5, maybe?
So when's the dev score bug getting fixed..? Beat 8 dev scores so far yet no new hook to buy. Just locked.. :,( Didn't get the fungus depths hooks either. But I did get the hats... What gives?
It's fixed in Update 2, which we submitted Monday. Apple decides when the update gets posted to the App Store.
