Please tell your paying customers, such as myself, what is being gimped by this update. In-game prices going up? Changed formula for the number of gems recieved after a dig? Changed % on the wheel of fortune?

Gimme a full changelog; I don't want to be stuck with another damn app I bought which I can never update nor delete.

Damn devs only mention the ADDITIONS when a game goes free to play.

None of the above have changed in any way. And not only that, we also added a free 5000 gem gift for customers who previously purchased the app.

There are some adjustments to better highlight and direct players to the game's shop and upgrading features, but the balance of gem accrual and prices have not been touched. The game still retains the original design direction of all IAP being completely optional and also constantly rewarding the player with enough gems to consistently upgrade without feeling like a grind (even now that it's free)

So, yes: there are various changes not mentioned in that short summary, because a lot just changed overall, and much of it is actually polish and general improvements. This update is big and changes the game in general, but we worked hard on it and firmly believe it makes the game better. Hope that helps a bit

As Chris mentioned, none of that stuff changed - we didn't want to tinker with what people were used to. This is a game that we love and we know players love and didn't want to betray that in any way. We're hoping that by going free and adding new content that we can get more people to enjoy it too.

Oh, and the update is live now - price should change to free in ~40 minutes or so.

Uhh... Anyone else loos all their data when updating?

I would be so upset if I didn't throw around $20 into the game... But... All gone.

    Hey syntheticvoid,

I am terribly sorry to hear that -- that is the last thing we ever want to see happen with an update, and something we test thoroughly to prevent. I can confirm that my save data carried over successfully with the live update, and have also been checking with others who have not had a problem.

So, we will be looking into what could have caused it for you. Are you jailbroken by any chance? What device and OS are you on? Have you ever run into this with another app?

Once again, terribly sorry to hear this. I'd recommend checking to see if you have an iTunes backup available, otherwise I'd advise to contact apple/go through iTunes refund process. We'll be looking into this further in the meantime

Hey... I'm terribly TERRIBLY sorry for the scare. I completely forgot that I had to do a complete restore on my iPad not too long ago. I'm so sorry.

There's no problem... It was all my fault. I hadn't event booted the game up since reinstalling it, and didn't even have the coin doubler activated or restored...

    Again, I'm sorry...

I just updated on my iPhone and had no issues. Same with my wife's iPhone and the kids iPad.

Thanks for the quick response... But again... I suck... Sorry.

I'll update when and if SV gives the go ahead. 5000 gems? I can get that in 2 digs. I want assurances that all character prices and upgrades haven't changes in price; the gems given after calculating the # collected + distance haven't changed in amount; the difficulty hasn't been ramped up to the point where single use boosts are necessary; etc.

So I'll let others update first then check back in a while. After all, you could have made the game permanently free without an update. In-app purchases were already enabled.

I had Girls Love Robots and Velocorapture on my wishlist; scratch that. NO, I don't trust ios developers.

BTW, it's a pet peeve of mine when publishers/developers refer to "previous putchasers" and the perks they get. I purchased Dead Trigger and didn't get the consolation prize. Why? Because ios devices don't have EXPANDABLE STORAGE and I needed to make space. All devs/publishers need to say that owners with CURRENT INSTALLS get x. Some people also buy through iTunes on their PC, and don't always get around to immediately installing.

Jesus on a pogo stick. I'll stick to buying the 5-20 dollar games that don't give me grief.

This is great news that some of the oldies are getting support for the iphone 5 retina but common adult swim please bring retina updates for Amateur Surgeon, velocirapture and extinction squad.

We had to make this an update to add new content, fix bugs, improve efficiency, and add polish (all of which is free to players)

If you do decide to update, I hope you enjoy it!

Yeah, I'm pretty sure that all upgrade prices are the same, unless they raised them further on down the upgrade tree. But so far, everything seems to be priced the same as it was in the previous version.

I will say that I'm definitely liking how Adult Swim's publications have gone freemium. Major Mayhem was a PERFECT paid to free conversion - and this seems to be the same. I'm guessing AS gives developers quite a bit of control over how they model their games.

I'm almost tempted to keep pumping money into this one though. I love the game, my kids love the game, my wife loves the game. It's the only reason I've already put $20 into it. I think most of us have that one game that we just keep dishing out cash into for IAP. GrumpyFace has made some insanely great games on the iOS - Bring Me Sandwiches!, Wispin and this - and I feel like I've gotten WAY more than the asking price out of all three. They're definitely a dev team that I hope to see a lot more of, so I have no issues giving them (on average) a couple bucks a month.

But yeah... looks like everything is exactly the same as it was, just more of it. Also - the new character isn't priced above the old top-tier characters - he costs 16,000 gems... which is nice. Usually when new stuff is added in iOS games, it's added above the previous top prices...

Anyway - also loving the new widescreen display and time trial mode. I haven't unlocked the new level yet because I'm saving up for the new character... but I'm sure it rocks. This is just the update to get me back into the game.

Hope it going free means that finding a versus match won't be hard now. =oD

I remember when I had to do a full factory resetting on my device because of a GC sandbox sign in pop up that irritated me to no end. So everything was wiped out. When I reinstalled this game my progress was gone:(... So I played a bit and it was fun. I did delete it though...should I DL it again? I already know the answer but I must ask:)

Well - if you enjoyed it before - yes. I'm starting over on all of my device (save my iPhone - but I only had 2k gems on there pre-update)

But yes - I'm remembering all the reasons I enjoyed the game initially... and knowing that now, there's even more to unlock makes it even better. I can't wait to upgrade a character and get into some versus gameplay. Hopefully I can by this weekend. =oD

    Hey guys,

Unfortunately we've located a bug that slipped by that only effects previous players of the game who are performing an update (it will not effect anyone who is downloading the game for the first time or who deletes the app before updating). The bug basically will not allow you to unlock the extra Time Trial stages other than the first stage (which starts unlocked). Please do not try to spend gems on those stages today if you are updating your game -- once a fix is released, you will be able to unlock them normally. No other unlockable content has been affected by this (new character, upgrades, etc), so it's only the locked Time Trial stages that pose an issue.

We have already completed a fix and are just performing tests before passing on to be submitted to Apple, afterwards it typically takes anywhere from 1-3 days to go live.

Our sincere apologies for the inconvenience, but hope you are able to enjoy the other new additions in this update!

I'm not sure if it counts, but the app I pump money into is Zen Pinball...though each purchase gets me a NEW table.

I only played Major Mayhem AFTER it went free; fun game but a major grindfest which I'm trying to avoid...they prey on our desire for quick gratification in lieu of building a truly compelling gameplay experience, IMO.

Plus I feel dumb spending hours upon hours grinding away in a casual game when I have barely touched countless 5-20 dollar games and apps.

Anyway, this game doesn't have ipad support, correct? Then I'll update on my ipad and leave it alone on my iphone. Though in doing that I always wonder how Gamecenter handles the conflicting data sent by the app.

I still have Whale Trail unupdated on my iphone. I'll be damned if an imbecile who spent 700 large making a casual game of the caliber found on Flash sites gets any reward from me. Dude could have put out a great SHUMP w/700 grand ;)

Yes, it does have iPad support - and touch controls for the bigger screen as well (or if you just prefer them on the smaller screen as well...)

    Nice update! Thanks:)
Can't wait to see what the new inmates look like.

  19. SV,

Get the icade core, it's on sale right now for $25. Hold off in this game til you get it. Then replay it with the core, you will absolutely love it!!!! I guarantee it cause you like old school controls so much. Plus a wonder on games like Blazing star, metal slug, and hundreds of other games.

You will like it better than hdmi even cause of your joystick preferences. Bought 5 icade core games yesterday like airattacl hd, and frogger decades. Wowzers, games I hated the controls for like League of Evil and Gunman clive play SOOO awesome now.

Get one onsale now at $25, for you it is a must have. You can thank me later.
