My wii has also been gathering dust for a while, but I will be happy to spend the 2 minutes required to set it up again so I can play this.
lol, and how's that boring? ---- Gamespot also gave Mario Galaxy 2 a 10 out of 10 http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/supermariogalaxy2/review.html?tag=topslot;img;1
I don't really trust Gamespot for reviews anymore, they give practically all big-budget games 10/10, even ones that blatantly don't deserve it, like GTA4. The fact that there was such an outcry when they once gave a Nintendo release a score 8.8 really speaks for itself. Ironically, the review that got such negative reception was probably one of their fairer reviews.
To all those complaining about the graphics on the wii, wii is not known for it's graphics. Glad I have a ps3 and 360 for that purpose. Anyways love all the smb games and loved the new smb for wii. Can't wait to get this, should be awesome
Can't wait for this game. "Omg. Round 3d sphere planet" That was hilarious! You can tell he never played the original Galaxy. The innovation was gravity. Yeesh somebody stuck their anterior end up their anus then through their mouths again.
Not that's it's saying that much, but I trust Gamespot more than IGN with reviews (I can see where they got the nickname IGNorance from sometimes). Generally I don't really trust either of them most of the time anyway.
Mario Galaxy 2 is now the best rated game of all time (well, behind Ocarina of Time). And I thought the first Mario Galaxy was the best designed game ever The sequel seems to trump the original in pretty much every way.
This is the one game that's tempted me to get a Wii (it's not going to happen, but I'm tempted). Gameplay looks simply awesome.
Zelda and Metroid are coming out later this year. Those alone should make you consider getting a Wii. It's cheap as hell too.
That would be why, I'm only 14... I don't really hate it, and my best friend loves it. I don't know, I thought it was too frustrating and simple. Maybe I just suck at it lol.
Honestly if it weren't for ME3 and GoW3 I'd sell my Xbox for money towards a Wii. I have no use for my 360 outside of those two games.
I actually played the original right through to it's conclusion obtaining every star with both characters ans can honestly say it was the best £40 i'd spent that year, I even went as far as to write a mini reveiw of it in another forum I was a member of at the time... After 20 or so hours of playtime and with 65 stars collected I finally feel qualified to air my views on Super Mario Galaxy... Lets start with the graphics... Far better than I was expecting, Having played most of the graphically Brilliant games on xbox 360 such as gears of war, call of duty 4 and suchlike I was expecting dissapointment from the Wii, but this couldnt be further from the truth, everything in mario looks stunning, from the lighting, textures, vibrant colours, effects (special mention goes to the fur on various enemies) even the camera is great and keeps up all the time. Music and sound effects are brilliant and range from old classics (some in remastered form) that you will be humming along to without even noticing to grand orchestral scores which seem to suit every situation perfectly. Gameplay as with all Marios is very tight and will have you jumping for joy 1 minute as you beat shadow mario with split seconds to spare and at other times gnashing your teeth with frustration as you fail to reach that elusive star for the 10th time in a row (not the games fault but merely a reflection on your sub standard game playing skills!) Control is as superbly implemented as you could wish for, the nunchuck and wii mote are put to great use as you point, tilt and shake your way through the levels, (the ball rolling game where you hold the wii mote vertical and tilt it is pure genius). To sum up then if you have a Wii and feel starved of quality releases then this is the game you have been waiting for, it has something for everyone and will make even the most cynical of gamers smile at some point. You really owe it to yourself to buy this, it would be an injustice to yourself and your Wii if you dont. Assassins Creed can wait, im lost in a galaxy far far away... Bearing in mind this was 2007 and there were some stunning games on the other systems at the time I think that Nintendo deserved huge credit for their achievement with Super Mario Galaxy, I have no doubt that the sequel due this weekend will be every bit as good and obviously better in far many places and as such I will be pre ordering my copy first thing tomorrow morning. I really cant remember the last time my Wii got powered up but it still sits under my tv alongside my 360 and PS3, thats all about to change this weekend though when my copy turns up... I think it will be Red Dead Redemption thats taking a back seat this coming weekend to the fat italian plumber...
The Wii really isn't that bad, just the majority of the developers are. Hell, some of my favorite games are on there. (Metroid, Zelda, Mario Galaxy, Bully)
I find the only use for a Wii is if you're a little kid. I mean some of the games are really good, but none of them are anything new or manly (for those of you who are insecure like me). I've seen Zelda before, played Super Smash bros, went through metroid before, etc. I just feel as though the amount of good games on the Wii pales in comparison to the other two consoles, but then again it's all based on perspective and personal taste.
absolutely stunning game. played the first and obtained every star with both characters. This can barely be called a sequel as it takes the game above and beyond. Fantastic game. one of my favorite video games of all time (along with animal crossing, yoshi's island, super smash bros, paper mario )
