So awesome! Thank you for making a bigger and better game, Alexander Trowers! I'm so excited (if you can't tell) to plow head first into this. Spent about 30 minutes so far, but that's all it took for me to see how vastly you've expanded on the Glyph Quest formula. Match-3 RPG fans, GET THIS NOW!
Have the sound effects improved from the original? I found the high-pitched squeaking sounds used in many places to be headache-inducing and out of character.
I'm really enjoying this game! It's nice to see TE dev is around here as well I was at a loss for combos. I thought it was te book I had to get but couldn't kill all the zombies...then I saw the explanation here and it was so much more doable with the group attacks. I had thought I hit a grind wall and was glad to see that is not the case. So my only critique would be some explanation, and when a character gives me a reward, like after beating the c-cultists in the jungle...tell me what the reward is I'd also love to access my bestiary or spell book from within battle...these are Minor things tho overall great work!
After playing this for a while I can say this is a decent match 3 game, there are better ones on iOS but also a lot that are worse. Its a bit too grindy for my taste which is strange for a game that doesn't try to sell you any IAP.
That's interesting. You're probably the first person I've heard say that. I admit you do end up going around looking for parts or trying to level up but I think it's done at a very good rate. I'd rather not have a game where you don't need to grind and can one shot it. That tells me the game is too easy or too short. One or the other. I'd rather have some challenge that would make me work my way to become better. This game has a nice difficulty curve that makes you use potions but not excessively.
I've also found it a bit grindy. But maybe I'm playing it wrong. There may be a subtle bit of strategy that I'm missing. Mostly loving it though.
What I would do is spend money on increasing inventory then redo adventure quests, trying to stockpile potions. The earlier areas should be easier so it shouldn't be too hard.
Exactly what I do. I got a 9 slot bag very early on. When you can sell a crystal for 1300, that's pretty fair. Are you guys maximising your chains? This is the secret to long life. Most sun combo spells give you some sort of health regen as well.
I haven't unlocked sun yet playing as the other class :\ Regen wold be nice! I have been trying to maximize my chains but often I can make a big long 7 chain or so then I'll find nothing to make solo/combine and then I can't even do a reversal. Sometimes I'll cop out and try to make null spells hoping I'll get the glyphs I want but it has failed every time I tried it..
I'd recommend investing in more inventory space, and also grabbing loot upgrades if they come along when you level up. Getting potions for free in battle can be incredibly helpful in tougher battles.
This game is awesome. It has been pretty much all I play for the past few days. There are a few negatives which bother me, but the positives outweigh them. I was super excited for 'journey to the center of the earth', but this is the better game, In my opinion. As far as the negatives go, I would like to mention a few, in the hopes some constructive criticism may help the Dev/game/player: - The map system feels tedious and confusing. The fact you can't click on a town or area makes it worse. Personally, I'd much rather see a more linear map - making it obvious where the next mission is, or at the very least I would like the ability to click on areas. - I would like a visual representation in the battle screen or pause menu, showing opposites and maybe even discovered spells. - I would like a more accurate representation of remaining XP - I think it takes far too long to gain the ability to combine elements. It only makes sense, for example, to have one wind increase a fire chain/but two winds blow the fire out and offset the chain. This would work for all glyphs, but I've played for hours and I'm just now getting to combine different elements, and it isn't clear exactly what combos give me what bonuses. - I think the male character should look more masculine. I'm not asking for a gears of war cog, but he looks like a she. When I was creating the character I thought there was a bug, which kept choosing female instead of male, by accident. - there should be an easier way (possibly just in the menu), to pull up the most used areas of the map, like the inn, the shop, etc. - there's several other things that is love improved, but those are the big ones I can think of now. I'd be wrong to bit point out some positives too. Here's the things I love: - the game. Overall. It just sucks you in and immerses you into a world that's enjoyable. Very fun, which is the most important thin- I love the music - the hand drawn illustrations are so charming There is, technically, but there is one thing, the male character looks like a female. It really bothers me.
Glad you're enjoying it. Some great feedback here. It was always my intention to have the map as something you explore. That is, physically move around rather than just tap on what would essentially be a menu. One of the things that never made it in, although may well do in an update, was going to be a highlight for areas that have active Quests in. But you're still going to have to walk there We tried to front-load this as much as possible as the mistake we made with the first game was putting Combos behind the paywall. But I agree that maybe it takes a little too long to get to them. I think part of the problem was that it was at the natural part of the story for Combos to be introduced. And there's an abject lesson in game design - don't let the narrative lead the gameplay. Leanne says it's difficult to make chibis look masculine. I guess part of the issue is that they share a common face shape and we don't segregate hair and eye styles. But then we lived in Brighton and... well, Brighton.
As someone who played the first game to death, I have to say I too am finding this one a bit grindy. I'm at the part where Spoiler you have to defend the other mage, who I'm sure is actually using you to become an evil endgame character , and I'm having a fairly terrible time. I'm guessing this is just before you get the combo spells, so I'm stuck with 2-3 glyph spells, 4 if I'm really lucky, and and chains are so few and far between unless I stick with just 2 glyphs. Almost every enemy does something to cause me to bleed, become poisoned, become stunned, or have some other adverse effect on my glyphs. Even if I did bring some antidotes or bandages, I'd get cut or poisoned in the next attack, so it's a big waste. I've been going on the adventures in the meantime, but even then it takes a really long time to level up. I'm not ready to give up, but I feel it definitely needs some rebalancing. If I didn't know the depth of spells coming up from playing the first game, there's a chance I'd have given up by now. As for the map navigation, I think the easiest way to improve on what you've got without making it linear would be to allow it to slide more if you flick it. Just like any other app on the iPhone with scrolling parts, it gives you more control and makes it less tedious toIve around.
Completely my pleasure, young lady. How about a Nespresso? About the game: I don't think it's very grindy. I am playing the missions in the same order as they pop up, and there were only 2 or 3 battles where I epically failed. The game is not completely unforgiving... you can do 2-3 wrong moves without failing at the complete battle. Your perks are very vital - These are the ones you have to choose very careful.
I'm experiencing a glitch where I can't use any of my items. When I open the Item bag in battle, the item screen comes up but tapping has no effect and I can't the screen to close either. It's more or less just stuck there. With how important items are, it makes the game unplayable / unable to progress at this point. Anyone seen this issue? Please help!!!
Hi I am really loving this game, first match 3 experience for me. Some questions: I am level 13 now and I got the black/white glyphs. Are there any benefits associated with this? It seems everything gets just much more difficult - I guess that is Ok too, but wouldn't the strategy be then to delay finishing that quest as much as possible? Also, I tried to get the perk that reversals don't cut the chain anymore, but could not get it - I spend about 6000 gold on changing the available perks... Did I miss something? I got along fine though by chaining combos. Finally, can't remember how exactly but I got resistance to most of the stuff (probably status resist perk) but I can't read it because the text box in the status won't scroll (iPhone 4s). Is there any point in getting equipment for resistances now?
Played the original game and greatly enjoyed it. Embarrassingly, I forgot much of the mechanics and strategies. Can someone refresh me? If you have a row of 5 glyphs that are adjacent to each other (say, of the same kind), which is the optimal strategy, assuming the replacement glyphs are all of a different kind? 1. 1st cast - 3 glyphs, 2nd cast - 2 glyphs 2. 1st cast - 2 glyphs, 2nd cast - 3 glyphs 3. 1st cast only - 4 glyphs (leaving 1 glyph unused). I can't seem to find any info on the "relative" or incremental change in damage between these different uses. As well, between 1. and 2., is there a difference (that is, is it better strategically to save higher length chains for later casting)? As well, what is the rule concerning consecutiveness? If you are allowed to match a 4-glyph chain and you only have 3 glyphs of the same kind which you can chain, are you able to intersperse these gylphs in some specific orders to count all 3 glyphs? Lastly, I seem to recall from the first game that you can use the "loot" glyph anywhere in the chain but breaking the chain itself so that it can be used to chain two compatible glyphs together that are otherwise not possible by interposing the loot glyph in between. Is this true in this game?
