It cuts off at the p. So "Super Glyp..." this is with restarting my iphone and getting all the updates. I guess I could try deleting the game and reinstalling though I'd need to back up my progress.
I guess the name is just too damn long. Something that's worth remembering for the next game we make.
Can you not just rename it to Glyph Quest, SGP, or Super Glyph? Angry Birds avoids long names by naming all of its app "Angry Birds". It works pretty well for them. And looks pretty uniform.
Once you can link 4 glyphs together, you can make combos. They are basically alternating two glyphs (eg. Fire/wind/fire/wind). As long as you don't combo two opposing glyphs (fire/water) you won't have a backfire and get a great spell. Enjoy!!
Yes and no - it's not enough to get 4 glyphs: you have to complete the quest back at the Library once you've visited the Dragon Shrine. You can tell if you're combo-ready by checking out the Previous Glyph indicator at the bottom of the screen. If it has two large circles (and one small one), you can cast combos.
You can have a long name for your game, but use an abbreviation for the icon. Lots of apps I have do that: their App Store name is something long, but they use a shortened version for the icon. For example, Monument Valley becomes Monument, Skulls of the Shogun becomes Shogun, Great Little War Game 2 becomes GLWG2, etc.
re: Icon name For what it's worth, there's a good explanation of how to change the name that shows up below the icon here: http://stackoverflow.com/questions/238980/how-to-change-the-name-of-an-ios-app/20418989#20418989 (scroll down to "Another scenario ...")
Questers! Winter is coming! As is our Christmas update. Featuring: New Location - The Frozen North New Quests - help Julenir and Ice Witch Yngvill. New Monsters - Choose your side between the King of the Frost Goblins or Troll Lord Thomas. New Adventure System - finish off your Bestiary or know where to grind for materials. Old Bugs fixed - new ones yet to find. We're also looking in to reverting back to the old shareware model. Obviously, this means nothing to you if you've already bought the game, but it'll give those of you who haven't (boo, hiss) a chance to try it out first.
Still playing/enjoying this game. The humorous writing and detailed graphics/animations are top-notch. Not to mention the gameplay. Update sounds awesome; any rejiggered pay model is all to the good, in my opinion, if it helps you guys recoup costs and enables you to make more stellar games. Have to considered a donation iap at all? i bought this Day 1 and would gladly have payed more. Best of luck and keep up the good work!
We've thought a bit more about the logistics of the shareware move and it doesn't look feasible. Mainly because if you downloaded the game whilst it was premium and then uninstalled it, there would be no record of you having purchased the IAP to unlock the full game (as it didn't exist), so you'd end up getting charged twice. Clearly this is something that would almost certainly piss people off.
Maybe have two apps, one free with IAP and also keep one with full price. I think Castle Doombad went that way (not sure), maybe ask them how this choice affected sales and reception...
+1 with Hpmor. I am not a big fan of this approach. But I just read your latest blog post and am quite disheartened and sympathetic of your situation. Releasing the game again as a second app will give you a second chance to hit the chart as a "new" release. It may also attract a second round of media attention to help to promote the game, since offering just update may not give you the same attention in the news cycle.
Indie DB are doing their Game of the Year awards. We're not entirely sure what that means in real terms but I see is a link and a button to be pressed. Be a lamb and press it won't you? http://www.indiedb.com/games/super-glyph-quest
