I got to this thread after Eli linked to one of the dev's comments. When the first Glyph Quest came out I downloaded it and upgraded with IAP on recommendation of TA. The art was a bit rough for me and the music a bit repetitive but loved the gameplay concept and the amount of combinations. I wasn't really aware there was a sequel or maybe I saw it and overlooked it. I have bought it at the sale prize and I'm keeping it for my bus ride this afternoon to try it out. BTW, to support a dev and your friends, there is an App Store function to gift games quite easily
hello bulkpaint is there a way I can purchase the IAP on Glyph Quest? or should I just crack on with this one? I just fancy playing your first game first.
The IAP in the first game is hidden for the first hour or so. It is called the mages license I believe, and only becomes available after the story makes it. This is another case of marketing taking a back seat to the story of the game, and in my opinion, a strategic error. I remember wanting to purchase it but I was waiting on the bus. I had wifi for the next 15-20 minutes, but then I would be on the bus without a connection for an hour. I tried to rush through the game so I could buy it, but didn't have time. Luckily I went back and bought it later, but how many people didn't buy it because of this? How many didn't even know it existed? The games core mechanics aren't available in the free demo, but the unlock for the full game isn't available either (until much later).
I've got to level 5 - played, as you say, the first hour or so, but then it won't let me purchase it. Each time I click on the buy mages license it says my iTunes password is wrong, which I know isn't the case and then purchase failed over and over. I've tried every day since last Saturday like the saddo that I am.
Interesting strategy. I tried a playthrough once to make the Thaumaturgist Robes and Codex staff (purely because I'd created a character that looked like Felicia Day) and, whilst I was able to gain enough materials to craft those items, my build was so skewed towards it (Level 3 Gatherer) that my combat abilities were called in to question. Likewise, I had no money left over for consumables, so by the time I reached the Dragon Shrine, I was in pretty poor shape. That said, materials are just materials - you can gain them from any Quest or Adventure (although you're more likely to get them from Adventures) and none of them are unique to a particular quest or arc. Again, I suppose what you could do is play until you've gained a particular piece of equipment and then restart. Your equipment will carry over, meaning there's one less thing for you to acquire on your next play. Sounds a bit tedious, but hey. #gamingthessytem
This is something we're aware of. We think we need to do an iOS 8 pass on our IAP stuff, which we're going to do as soon as our IAP guy comes over.
kool - i'll start the new one in the meantime and delete the old one 'til it's fixed. Proper good luck with it all.
What you're after is Magic Sparkle. It drops from Goblin Shamen, Banshees, Demons and other magical or magic-using creatures. Note that creatures can drop more than one type of material (it's random as to which), so just because it drops something else the first time, it doesn't mean that it can't drop this other thing.
If anyone's interested about how and why we did the stuff we did, you can check out the Dev Diary we wrote. http://alextrowers.blogspot.co.uk/2014/04/super-glyph-quest-dev-diary-01.html There are a total of 10 instalments and it may well answer a few questions that you didn't even realise you had.
I'll gift this to the first 5 people to PM me. Just need an email address, and it has to be a U.S. account. 1 left!
That is very generous of you. My offer still stands as well. I will gift it to one forum regular who can not afford it now, or just doesn't have the money on a voucher right now.
The original glyph quest has a bug of some sirt possibly with iOS 8. I loved the original. Immediately bought the iap but after buying a new iPhone 6 I was unable to restore my purchase. I even tried to rebuy it and it states purchase failed. I wrote in this forum and the developer said they might have their iap programmer check on it...
@Anotherkellydown, @Lazer Kat; You guys are what make TA more than just a site to discuss some iOS games, I believe the word "community" applies here.
firstly, giving a bump to this great game, and second i want to ask, do we get to cause statuses? Because playing a bit more, i discovered how OP they are. At a bandit boss who called his 2 buddies, i spent 6 turns getting clobbered / bleeding/ poisoned / stunned, without being able to do a thing, going from almost full health to almost zero. And it seems logical our spells can cause them. Finally, did i read something about keeping the crafted items every time you reset the game data?
I'm flattered and honored you trust my opinion so much! Re: the original, the IAP bug is a known issue and the developer's on it. But honestly, I'd recommend just jumping into this new one. It really is bigger, better, and badasser in every way.
Holy ship, that was so fkkin' rude in the first place. You're the one who owed the dev an apology. Without the knowledge of any fact, this was a straight kick into the dev's balls. But I'm glad you did apologize. Damn, people. $2 is ape shit and not premium. Small coffee or small burger or small french fries, you guys know the drill. Next time try to act more reasonable. Giving the dev a middle finger or insulting him like those guys in the sale thread is absolutely unacceptable.
