Honestly I don't see any major collision detection issues other than "stuck on edge" issue, which could be annoying but not so much What's happened with this crate counter? Some hacking ? Can't believe it was doubled in one day
Actually it doubled just hours later. Last I checked (several hours earlier), it was over 10mil. Now its over 20mil!? Either the player count has doubled (congratz Vlambeer ) or everyone is clocking overtime and actually getting better. (congratz SCB Nation )
Practice! Use the better weapons to clear the screen, then go crazy collecting crates until the screen fills up again, then clear the screen again. Be patient, manage the enemies and try to keep them balanced. Slow down. My highest scores (26) come from pacing myself and having fun.
Think of SCB as a tower defense hybrid, don't let monsters into the fire pit because they will reappear as red faster variants. Clean up foes in the upper tiers then dive for crates when clear. Kill first, crates later. It is said enemies spawn according to which direction you are facing. When you have better weapons clear the stage so if your next crate is weak you can plow to the next quickly. Avoid getting boxed into tight spots or trying close jumps (which are defense/avoid strategies) just shoot, keep offensive. I just broke 40 myself. Good luck, let us know how it goes.
Wow that helps a lot. Broke 10 for the first time and then got a 20! Finally getting the hang of it a little.
One of the best advice for beginners I think would be : never-let-anything-pass-BELOW YOU ) Back on the controls and hit box : - I don't know how good would be a jump + fire button , I am a bit worried about how much space that button is going to take especially on iphone/ipod touch's screen. I hope you'll have the choice between a third button and just the possibility to enable jump+fire with 2 buttons, somehow I can manage that in Muffin Knight - there is a hit box problem, I don't know how different it is from the PC version because as I can remember there were big hitbox issues back then. What's problematic is that the hitbox seems to have a variable size : sometimes the hero's back has no problems skimming ennemies, sometimes you get erased from 2 miles away. I have no problem with a big hitbox (remember the 8 bit area games ...) but it has to be clear and straight. - the most annoying problem is "the block in the edge" one . 119 crates here, just warming, that game is soooooo perfect on a portable device damn it
This game is pretty amazing. Just had to say it.# Anyways, I'd like to see: -in depth stat analysis pages: Basically, I'd like to be able to see my stats on everything imaginable. Times played as each character, how they died, weapon I kill with the most, how many times ive killed each enemy with each weapon, weapon I die most with, number if times each weapon has been picked up, etc.# And then it would be even better if it could be done by level and difficulty as well as overall.# And on top of that, it would be great to be able to view friends stats as well.# -in game help guide: Until reading this thread, I didn't realize that green enemies become red enemies, I also didn't realize you could shoot through the fires, and I'm still not aware of what the sfmt Means or why it's official.# I would say a simple how to score, how to die, and a little tip/comment about each weapon would be perfect.# -fix the in game box counter: It seems to be a little messed up since it went over 10k boxes.#
I finally broke my hi-score wall of 36 and hit 55. I don't know how excited I am about unlocking a harder mode but at least I'm getting better. I think what has helped me is realizing this is a game of patience and endurance more than any thing else. As long as you keep the level and your head clear picking up box 100 is as easy as picking up box 1. Once you realize that, stay focused on getting to the next one safely while not letting yourself get overwhelmed with enemies. Also, mines are your friend! Lay 'em down like crazy before getting the next crate and they'll save you long after you forgot they were there. I think at one point I had at least a half dozen on the bottom row. And it's not a problem to have them right next to each other because they don't set each other off.
Most helpful thing I figure out is that monsters getting into fire pit reappears fast and red. That was a breakthrough and I went from 17 yesterday to 67 today and normal mode is quite boring right now Crate counter seems to be fixed, but I'm curious what happened.
wow... i've been playing SCB on my pc since october, and never knew that could be done... tnx for the tip xD
Not only can grenades, mines and flames be dropped into the fire pit so they reappear at the top... ...but time it just right and the laser gun can shoot in BOTH directions SIMULATANEOUSLY! (Which is handy for clearing rows of enemies)
I think for this kind of game a replay feature is a must ,with the ability to save and YouTube upload!!
