I enjoy Super Crate Box on my Ipad thus far. Apologies if this has already been addressed, but an excellent idea would be to have one seperate leaderboard for cumulative crates collected . This would greatly increase the replay value and encourage people such as myself who aren't experts to keep playing to move up on that leaderboard. People who keep getting only 5-10 crates per game will feel like they are accomplishing something if it at least moves them forward on the leaderboard. Another possibility would be to add achievements for total crates collected, such as 1,000, 10,000, 100,000 etc. Don
I'm 25% of the way to 10k, I think I'll do it. 100k on the other hand.....yeesh, no. My stats - I've got a kill/death ratio of....about 24
Im having a horrible time with the game. I think the controls completely suck...very unresponsive. Muffin king is so much better. I hate this game. The frustration level in this game is ridiculous. I so want my dollar back. Rubbish.
These stats dont make any sense on my device either... They're so messed up lol. I played 10 minutes and it came out to like 4 hours in game... -_-
Better get that update ready. 24 hours since global launch and just under 3 million crates already...
that's advice i'd give as well. it's a lot better that way. the controls in this are actually pretty tight. not as tight as LoE, but i think most of my mistakes are because of me, not the controls. before, i asked 'that's it?' when it comes to the game, and it was a simple, honest question. i did read the pocket gamer review, and yeah, that's it. i'm definitely satisfied with my purchase, though. here are some things about the game that i think are worth mentioning to a potential buyer, or someone who complains about the game in general... the collision detection is (intentionally?) insane. you will die a lot just being within close proximity of an enemy. i can only assume from fan responses that this is how it is on the pc version as well, so your best bet is to just get used to it and adjust your play accordingly. the red enemies are a result of you letting green ones fall into the fire at the bottom. i didn't know this myself until i read it in a review (before, it just seemed random). you need to kill the enemies. while you get no points for killing enemies, it's important to still do it. the game's scoring method (only getting crates) leads to a false sense of shallowness in the game, and might make you think the task at hand is to collect crates as fast as you can. the 'strategy' is getting crates when it's a safe bet. if you're surrounded by enemies, or there's a line of them coming down the road at once, it's best to kill them off instead of going for the next crate. finding that balance is what made the game a lot more fun to me, and it greatly improved my scores. all that said, i went from getting 2-8 crates on average to getting 10-15. and my high score is an even 50. in SMFT mode, i think my best is 8. EDIT: i watched the counter roll over 3M crates. that's nuts! and i just noticed in the update notes that they'll have an update at 5M...so sometime tomorrow i guess?! awesome.
Very Addictive Game. Props to the Devs can't wait for the update! One This game is very misleading in the fact you get sucked into Getting crates that you forget to kill the monsters. Remember you need a good balance of both to succeed!
this is awesome. I played it on PC a while back and i remember having trouble with the tutorial. I eventually got better, but still, it was hard as hell. the iOS version is easier for sure. I got 27 on lv 1 I'll have a review up soon, just gotta find the time to write it.
You took the words out of my mouth, these are my exact thoughts on this game, worded just the way I would've worded it.
I honestly couldn't get in Muffin Knight after playing Super Crate Box... SBC to me just has more appeal, I like all the weapons, love the just-one-more-try appeal of SBC, love the graphics style, the controls are really tight. It's a really great game, and I'm sure muffin knight is too, maybe once I play it more, but for me SCB is still the funner game.
Yeah, I hate to take the "clone" over the original, believe me I do. But this game could really borrow a few things from MK, like double jump (or the perks system altogether), and multiplayer. I know part of the appeal of this game is that it's hard, but honestly, THIS hard? I don't ever see myself unlocking anything that takes over 20 crates to unlock. Even 20 would be like a miracle among miracles. Maybe I just have to get better at it, but imho (and trust me it pains me to say this) Muffin Knight really improved on this formula.
I'd say the only way SCB is superior to MK is the stronger "one more go" feeling that comes with each death. Naturally, that comes with the faster pace of the game. I played through 78 deaths and unlocked 72% of the stuff in my first 30-45 minute sitting with the game. Of course, the art is excellent for those who are a fan of it as well.
24 hours after the problem was reported, you sir are a miracle worker! I don't know how you did it but thank you, thank you, thank you! Runs like silk on my 3GS. Addictive as hell. Loving it! Game of the year! (unless they port Zelda, you have my vote)
Just not having as much fun with this game as with Muffin Knight. It's a little bit sluggish and I can't really play it with the current button layout. Will check it out again if it gets an update.
