Well, we are approaching 24 hours, and I still can't download it. I thought for sure that Apple would have its act together by now.
Playdek deserve to feel pissed off and apple deserve to feel embarrassed as this, IMO, isn't acceptable. The release is the most important phase in determining a games future success. There's people with money burning a hole in their account right this moment, just waiting to unlock the premium content in Summoner Wars yet they have no access to the game... right this second they're probably looking at other games to blow their money on instead. Money that should be going into the developers pocket. Sad but true. And twenty four hours on and the problems still not fixed? It really isn't good enough on apples behalf, no matter what the excuse. But that's just my opinion. Can't wait till apple get their shite together on this one as I'm keen as mustard to play.
The round button to end the phase turns green when there is nothing else you can do. It is red if it is possible to do more actions during that phase. -VK
Ok, I'm not in the tutorial. When I double click a card to zoom in on my iPhone 4s, roughly 15-20% of the screen is outside of the cards' borders, despite the fact that this space is dimmed and therefore doesn't show any info. I don't know how difficult it would be to resize these assests, but for all of us with poor eyesight attempting to play on an iPhone, a full zoom in on the card would be appreciated. In the mean time, does anyone know if the iOS built in-assistive zoom would work in game? Like three finger zooming or VoiceOver?
I'm loving the game. It also runs surprisingly well on my iPod touch 2G (it's the only "portable" iOS device I actually have, and I'm not carrying my iPad around...). Congrats Playdek - loving it, bought the "Everything" bundle. Now just waiting for the other factions' AIs And, you know, if you want to bring over some sort of "Campaign" mode, I'll just love you even more for it.
The info in the links below certainly matches the description of what has been happening to many who managed to download the game earlier today (instant crash to Springboard upon opening the game, caused by a corrupt binary); this has been affecting many other apps today as well. http://www.marco.org/2012/07/04/app-store-corrupt-binaries http://gadgets.ndtv.com/apps/news/ios-and-mac-apps-reportedly-crashing-due-to-corrupt-app-store-updates-239831 http://www.slashgear.com/app-store-affected-by-corrupt-app-updates-05237227/ http://www.appleinsider.com/articles/12/07/04/developers_suspect_app_store_mix_up_led_to_corrupt_binaries.html
I got the download as soon as I saw it posted on the "upcoming games" forums and it worked for me. Being completely new to the franchise it definitely is a bit difficult to play the first few games after the tutorial due to the lack of information displayed on the card. After playing several matches against the same faction I started to learn the enemy (and my own!) cards and had much more success. The tutorial did a good job on getting me started. I can understand some of the complaints about card sizing, highlighting, and artwork but it doesn't seem to be much of an issue for me on my iPad 3 (except the art...yuck!). One gameplay issue I'm having is the lack of a review function. The enemy cards get spit out pretty fast and you don't really get a chance to read and absorb what just happened. For example, I had a game where after two event cards were played my summoner was essentially one shot and I lost. There was no opportunity to see what happened and I was left with that "wtf?!?!" feeling. The game seems fun thus far. I like the "genre bending" it does. I haven't spent money on it yet but once the servers are fixed I may drop at least .99 to experience the multiplayer a bit. Like a lot of other people here I love Ascension and Playdek's implementation of these card and board games on iOS, but the lack of features in multiplayer is a bit surprising at this stage on the game for ios developers. It's really awesome to see that it's being actively worked on though. Overall I'm impressed with the game and it's play style and look forward to putting some time into it today!
You are so lucky... i can't download and after 22 hour i start to think that i will never be in condition to download... I've lost the hope to play Summoner War P.S. Yes, in Italy we are very melodramatic
Same thing happens with my best friend on Ipad1 5.1.1. But it is fine with my ipad 3. I hope playdek catches whats wrong with it and patches it.
Also getting the crash as described earlier in the thread on iPad 1 running iOS 5 and change. A little cramped but well done on the iPhone in the mean time. (frame rate is a little meh but that may be due to my phone being near full and overloaded w/ other background apps. Too eager to just start up and play to bother rebooting and the like last night.) I hope the leak or whatever is fixed soon. I enjoyed the lot I played on the Phone but long for the extra screen real estate on the Pad. I also long for a new iPad. *sigh* Such is life. Pro Tip - don't grow up, get jobs, wives, kids and "responsibilities", fellow iOS gamers. It gets in the way of your "just one more turn" AA
After entering into a Dark Pact with Ret-Talus I now have the app, but the iAP is not working sadly. I forfeited my soul for nothing! The app is working perfectly for me, no crashes whatsoever, even tried the Deck Builder. I love the interface and everything is readable on an iPad. Anyone familiar with Playdek will figure things out immediately.
With so many people raring to go at it, I guess they are severely overloaded at this time. It's like both good news and bad news. haha.
Did you create another account or were you able to use your existing one? I am still in the "Denied" category...
