having finished Bastion via Steam a while ago and tried iOS one with my iPad 2, i'll say the frame rate is not that smooth. not sure if it performs better with the new iPad (iPad 3) or not..
I have deleted my name from the Summoner Wars tournament and from conversations with JammaTal, am certain he will as well. This tournament is never going to happen. From traffic here, it is obvious that interest in the game has faded somewhat and the limitations set at the beginning were probably too restrictive. If anyone wants to take a stab at redesigning a new tournament, I'd be happy to sign up. My best bet would be double elimination via challonge and a restriction; choose any faction you want for the first two rounds, but you may not use that faction again in the tournament. The info should also be posted on boardgamegeek.
Were people still expecting that tourney to start I guess I should have deleted it... sorry. The fact that nobody was advertising it anymore should have been a clue >_> Anyway, I'm taking a break from the game after playing close to 300+ games. I'm hoping I'll stay away until the next batch of factions but the game finds ways to pull me back
Hi fellow Summoners, sad as it may be but the hype on Summoner Wars seems to have ended and the game has lost some momentum. so we should try to revive it a bit by starting a tournament with a much lower entrance hurdle. so i unsubscribed from the "high tournament" and am ready for any new approach. even thinking about taking on moderation of this if nobody else would do. depends on interest level too. greetings
Oh, i forgot to mention that there is a tournament being organized at PHG forums with pool play. Intermediate/Advanced players should head on over.
I know for a fact that they were already working on other factions just after the game appeared so hopefully, we won't have long to wait. I'll be first on line at the App store. Meanwhile, my most played faction (by far), is still FK, the very worst faction statistically, but fun and a challenge to play correctly. If I played with just TO and GD (and even PE), I'd have a much better record but would probably be a much more boring opponent. Am hoping new factions change the game up a lot.
The next 4 factions are SG, SE, BD and DD. All of them are fun decks with interesting new playstyles. After that the next 4 should be even more incredible because that batch should include FL which is deliciously unique.
Sand Goblins - lots of tricks. Mirage (an event) lets you heal your walls for 3 then reposition them! Shadow Elves - are a fast rush deck. They hit hard but are fragile so you set up lots of traps. Benders - a control deck, a nasty one at that. They force discards, immobilize, mind control, and even unsummon enemy champions! Deep Dwarves - a highly defensive faction, great for turtling
Thanks, Vegan (& Neo). I went to Plaid Hat's site last night to look around. Omg, the game will be incredibly more fun. I want all of the factions and will buy immediately. They all look like they will be great add-ons. For example, check out http://www.plaidhatgames.com/games/summoner-wars/deep-dwarves. How'd you guys find out? I knew they were working on new stuff right after the game came out (was communicating with Gary Weis about a bug or two) but I haven't seen any public info at all.
As far as I know there hasn't been an official word from playdek. But these are the next four that were released so it makes sense that it would be something similar. If we're really lucky we might see them add Swamp Orcs, Mountain Vargath, Mercenaries (which adds lots of units for the other armies), and my personal favorite The FILTH. The reinforcement packs for these armies were supposed to be out at the end of the month but were delayed to early October. It's possible they will be added all at once since they have their reinforcements and playdek can sell us another everything bundle for $8+ After that we must wait for the 2nd Summoners which will change things up a lot
Well, the next set of factions released for the physical game were the Master Set, which included MV and SO, but Gary said that they would release the remaining factions in batches of four and that the next batch would be SG, SE, BD, DD. However, there has been no followup post about this. As things are right now, Playdek has far too much on its plate for these factions to be released anytime before next year. I'm expecting these to be available around Spring 2013.
just wondering if the enthusiasm for this game has died? which i hope not... the thread has been really quiet these days...
It's good to step away from games you really enjoy every once in a while. I'm spending more time with King of Dragon Pass, Le Havre, Caylus and Ravenmark among others. After that it's going to be Martial Law and hopefully some other nice surprise board game release. I've just played so much of SW over the last 2 months that I can't get back into it wholeheartedly just yet. When I do, it'll be to explore new factions (BD/DD) and probably to befriend a few factions I loathe, like TO and FK Until then I'll just accept a few invites every now and then, and mostly just play CL/CG/JE.
I would be happy if PD could make the game run fine on the first iPad. Is it really that hard to make that happen? As it is, the game crashes every single time (!) in the middle of the first match. I would gladly pay for the IAPs, but at this point I won't. edit: Oh and please spare me the "you should upgrade ur device" crap. If anything, this game should work on older stuff.
It's a natural progression. Some of my buddies (six of us) have started our own private little round robin tournament all of us have otherwise cut back (I think). We're all waiting for more factions to appear. Playdek take my money, please. After our tourney ends, we'll probably all fade away from the game....
I actually just started playing my first public game. Been trying out all the different factions (haven't finished yet), and liked the undead faction so much that I started modifying it. So that's what I'm playing with now (for the moment).
