oh man. I def didnt expect you'd have that event twice do early. i don't even know how I could've gotten away surviving that. I needed one more walk maybe. that would've helped your army of units from pummeling me :p

Good games so far onlyphoenix. Nearly got you with that surprise attack in the last game, good ol' heroic feat. My biggest compliment to you is your control of the board. You're really aware of all the units on the field and how best to position yours. But this time I'll get ya :)

That was so crazy, right after I made my moves I realized 'oh look, a wall... I'm toast' :D I was surprised you had burned Gror for magic, I was expecting Gror to come out and finish the job.

As for the luck factor, if you think the dice really hate you, try out the Phoenix Elves. They're easy to pickup and the faction's theme is absolute damage/increasing chances of hitting. They're good for the offense-minded, and have pretty good hit n run tactics with the Warriors. Their Summoner also eats 2 health commons like berries.

As with the differences between Ascension and Magic, the games themselves are different card games. One is a deck building game, the other is a pre-contructed card game.

In the concept of luck, Ascension and Magic are similar in which most of the luck factor is attributed to card draws, and in SW, in dice rolls (much more than the card draw at least).

Id say it all boils down to preference as to which one is the better game, but each one has its strengths and weaknesses that make these games the greatest strategy card games.

(apologies for the wall of text, hope you enjoy)....

I'd like to add my 2 pence for those on the fence or struggling with the game, as I was up until yesterday.
There are two SW strategies/posts that have helped me massively and the topics are:

Crowding and Zoning, I urge you to read:

    http://www.plaidhatgames.com/sum_forums/showthread.php?1151-One-Minute-Strategy-Index-amp-Request-Thread

    http://boardgamegeek.com/thread/489251/crowding-v-zoning-basic-summoner-wars-strategy

Those two strategies have helped turn my form against the AI from winning every now and again and never against TO, to not only winning but doing so comfortably and sometimes dominating. All within a day.

The other thing learnt and helping is, like chess, "where will my opponent be next move/next few?" is of massive importance. On par with the cards themselves.

    Part review:
I'd class the game as at an opposite end of the scale to games like Ascension where the physical board is fixed throughout and plays little part. SW's physical board is fluid and plays a major, major role in the outcome. Hence the similarities to chess.
To sum up: for me, SW simply has more levels of strategy, needs more study and therefore gives better rewards.

My current level is training against AI, hoping to move to training multiplayer after a few days more study. Like minded beginners and interested players please do add 'Jungle4eva' on GC.

Thanks and good luck to the devs, fellow posters and game creators.

Snooper, was that final turn a gimme :/ you didn't try to kill the Spear Grounder at all. What terrible dice though, although I did get a nice 4 hits from 5 dice early in the game.

(That or you were expecting my useless dice to fail again >_>)

Only problem I have with this game is the annoying cat and mouse at the end. There needs to be an option to concede victory without forfeiting.

Yeah, there should be a draw option.

Also, an undo option, like in Hero Academy.

    And the much needed chat.

With these fixes the game would be perfect.

I am going to check them out. Thx for sharing.

Ps: for people playing with me. Sorry if it goes slow now, family days makes my time rather busy.

Don't believe a word that chaos says. He's got some kind of demon magic that enables him to roll high numbers every single time. And depending upon whether he uses his special chant of death, you will either roll 1s or 2s. He doesn't play fair. Lol.

I am loving this game. Loving it. Played a couple of free rounds, then bought the whole shebang. Super fun, strategic, with a wee bit of deckbuilding. Love. It.

One problem... I just had TWO online games disappear on me within 20 minutes and now it says I have 2 forfeits. I am not a game quitter, but now people might be hesitant to play me online. This bug needs to be fixed. Soon. (iPad 2)

Oh, also the game has frozen on me (required a reboot of the ipad) on startup 3 times in 3 days. Not good.

Well, he must be thinking the same f me. In our current game, even if it is far from clear who will win, I sacrificed a gorilla and got two consecutive good rolls in one turn with it and left him in need for a priest :)

Fieryseraph, I has the same multiple times! Luckily it turns not always n forfeits.

ONEWITHCHAOS: good game and it showed my poor reading skills! I thought I could use chant of life to cure my summoner and that is why I kept two of them with two magic points in my hand. But I was wrong.
Byw the last round ... If for some reason, I would have survived the rolls in the last round, you risked to loose. You made one wrong movement :). My JE decks being tweaked as we play ... So my his change (well I only add one new unit see if I like it and get rid of it for a new me till I find the ones I like)

GGs again sapphire_neo, no disrespect with that forfeit, we could both see how it was going to end up...

Outplayed me again, I was a bit too reckless.

The thing that cost you that game was burning Mook for magic, he's critical to making your Hordes count. Admiral helped me outlast your swarm, although it was pretty intimidating seeing that many units on the board...

As for the forfeit, I didn't have a problem with it but it's generally not good to rack up too many forfeits.

I didn't burn him, you killed him with that damn spy event :( But yeah, I love mook, one of my favourite champions.

Man I know that feeling. I'll have a plan set out, come back to the game a day or two later, do something completely different and then realise halfway through my turn.

Great game, I already purchased everything bundle but one thing really bothers me.. AI taking too much time between phases! Like 20 sec between every phase taking it for its whole move like 1 minute or even more.

I'm still learning strategy and if someone want to win few matches give me a hit. GC: CroRock

I think it's only fair to give AI time to "think." At least it simulates "waiting" in a sort of realtime multiplayer async game.

Can anyone tell me what the deal is with the Dwarves Grunger? He hits for 4 unless you use the Charge ability, which enables him to move two extra spaces with no attack. So, on two separate turns I move him only two spaces (a normal move) and he cannot attack.

    Either:

    1) it's a bug
    2) moving him even one space triggers the ability
    3) I'm missing something!

If the answer is 1 or 2, he's utterly useless. Thanks in advance for an explanation.
