How long do you have to respond before you get an auto-forfeit?

Definitely 100% not even close to being as luck based as Ascension.

Magic you could debate but not even close to Ascension.

This game has some luck but every dice you roll equals .66 average damage so two dice you should only really hope for 1 hit. Its all about calculated risks, where even if you miss you should still be in a good position.

And you guys actually play 3 day games!? I stick to 30 minutes ha can't imagine playing a game over a week I'd total forget what my strategy was and stuff.

3 days is a short game for me, haha. I mean last night I got to play a game start to finish in 30 minutes but that's a rarity.

I always play the longest available time on the timer. less pressure about forfeiting. you can do a quick glimpse through your discard pile and your opponents to get a feel for the game.

tbh though, I'd really prefer a "log" button like ascension has. especially since sometimes the events or units are sent to the magic pile, where you can't see them.

edit: and please please do something about the battery drain. it's insane!

    I play 3 days standard.

Regarding luck ... The it is me. But after having huge series of 2s and 3s rolls, I feel luck plays a large role. But still, it makes the game fun.
In fact, my favs list today see SW on top. And I am still wondering on nightfall ...

Do you want faster games with crappier AI or longer games with better AI?

If you're on iOS 5 we can use iMessage for chatting, pm me your id if you're interested. Our last game was pretty crazy, VG vs CG.

That would be me! Good game!

That's what makes this game so great, there's always a way to come back whether it's by good play or punishing the opponent's little mistakes.

I lost the same way to sapphire_neo, where he was down, but poor positioning of my summoner within 2 spaces of his wall, allowed him to do a 1-turn common and kill my summoner.

But you totally crushed me with TO last game :p TO is the one faction that completely upsets my plans all the time, unless I play GD and get rid of some Ice Walls with Besiege the Walls. It's so hard to take down Grognack as well, he's an OP summoner imo. Great single damage ability, tons of hp and rolls 4 clean dice. He can bring down most champs single-handed.

And now we're playing a GD mirror match because I like to follow up a bad loss with GD to get a hopefully easy win next round.

Well its usually a good idea to have the timer set for 3 days or more. There might be games where the game gets very long or there might be times where you have to think very long. It just gives more breathing room for both players.

To add to that, it's not inconceivable that either player might not be able to complete a game due to real life compulsions.

In other news, the deadly Create Game crash is back for me. And in the weather, another day has gone by without a mention of Le Havre or Summoner Wars. (there's more stuff that also eludes their attention but these are the two I'm campaigning for)

I'm going to come out and say it, I'm not a fan of people playing TO online, especially people who are maining TO. To me it says you enjoy winning more than you enjoy the game, especially if your first invite to a new friend is with TO. The same goes for GD but to a much lesser extent. So yeah, play TO a lot with me and pretty soon I'll be rejecting your invite.

we have not played, so no issue. But why? I use now a modified TO because I like it. I even loose with it, so what is the point of saying enjoying winning. I will switch to other factions, but only once I understand them.

    Lol... Play to win man.

CG score better than them in another link with alot more games played with better people and you didn't even mention them. Refusing to play against them won't help you get any better...

I agree. I prefer playing games that challenge me, and make it neccessary to come up with new tactics. If this game is about anything, it's about being flexible and able to change your game depending on what race you're playing.

I didn't say I won't play against them, I said I probably won't play with people who main them, using them something like 70% of the time. And that's a personal preference, i just don't like TO. I've had crushing losses against CG and GD but I don't mind them remotely enough.

As for playing to win, I play to enjoy, whether it's Ascension, Le Havre or Nightfall (where I incidentally have a terrible record). The manner in which TO works with the dice rolls, the incredible Summoner and the ridiculous events leaves a bitter taste. This is not a competitive tourney ecosystem and CG are not stomping around, most people are learning (including me) and to come up against a player who runs this deck singlemindedly is not fun.

Again, this is personal preference, and I might and probably will change my view on the matter eventually but not right now. I'm maining FK, but I'm also running VG, CG and CL on the side. Anyone who has a problem with that can speak up too, I'll listen. TO will be the absolute last deck I'll learn. But undoubtedly I'll have to learn how they play if people in my group are going to use them a lot.

I also want to say this is where communication plays a big part, please consider iMessage, whoever plays with me. If you don't like me picking FK a lot I'll stop, if I have an issue I can tell you to try something new. It was also a mistake signing up on PHG and BGG rolls since I don't hang out there.

I assume you're agreeing with them in that it shouldn't be a problem coming up against TO and that I should just suck it up and learn how to beat them. And I am learning, but I still don't like coming up against them.

If you meant the other thing, then of course I agree with you :p I love the great variety in factions.
