First of all, just having this for the 2nd day and played a few games with AI and some of the friendly folks here from the forum, I must say, it's especially refreshing game, combining SLG genre with card game for the units stats. Nice combination, I just created a bunch of games and mostly uses the Cloak but I find them to be weak compared to one of the jungle tribe or the undead ones. Of cos, I have yet to toy with modifying the base deck so there're probably more to the strategy but just saying, the core set for Cloak is a bit weak. Anyway, to the devs: I'm still hitting the mysteries (3) badge lingering around my SW app. I'm facing this for iPad app too. I tried deleting the app and redownloading, upon doing so, the annoying (3) badge is still there with no pending games on my side to be seen. This is just minor annoyance but any effort to fix it is welcomed. Thank you for the great game as always! Playdeck forever!
cpugeek13, are you the one I'm playing with my CG deck? In that case, I'd appreciate it if you don't endanger my 6/6 winning streak with CG ;-)
AI's CG rush is stomping my FK 0-3. I just cant setup fast enough to get a combo or a beefy champ rolling. If i get a beefy champ early, he usually dies without fodder for my Dark Sacrifice. How am i supposed to play online if i cant beat AI CG? LOL
I haven't played FK yet, but I have defeated a number of FK players with my CG, so I might be able to give you a few pointers; first of all, protect your summoner...Ret-Talus lacks HP to withstand a direct assault, so you want to avoid that as much as you can. I've had a couple of matches in which a single goblin reached Ret, and I could swap the little guy for Sneeks... The trick with CG is outlasting their first assault. In the later game you should be able to win easily since you have stronger units, but you have to get there first. So I wouldn't go the champion-route. Quantity over quality at first, to block all those pesky goblins. Throw some early cards into your magic pile to get out as much units as possible. Use greater raise to get those commons back into play and take out the cheap goblins with your reapers and zombies. Use walls to protect your Summoner, and not as a staging area for a assault. If your defense is okay, you can start thinking about getting those champions out there and attacking. Good luck!
I wouldn't worry too much about not getting a review for this game. In all honesty while Summoner Wars is a great game I feel a review that would have come out in the first couple days would have been way too fast, as its taken us more than a few games to learn the game ourselves hasn't it guys? Keep voting it as Game of the week though so we can get some good exposure and than if it gets a good review here even more exposure and maybe we can start up our own TA leagues/tournaments... man i really want some expansions already haha. some of them look cool!
Dear playdek ... Explain one thing. I needed one roll of more than three to win. One. I had ten roll equals three! Ten consecutive rolls. Now this defies any statistics. I would understand ten rolls of three or less. But ten rolls equal to three !? There must be something wrong with the random number generator. In many years of software development this is a first to see this. Especially because it was a game with AI. Not an async game. No delay or pause in the game.
Are you sure the opponent didn't play the Event card stating "For the next 10 rolls, your opponent will only roll 3s"? Sorry, just kidding - I really can only feel sorry for you - that is some really bad luck (or a faulty random number generator). -- and for those wondering, no there isn't any such event card - though it'd be cool
Bad luck means all numbers below 4. Ten times three I have never seen (even with real dices). I guess there must be a card saying roll three for ten time
That result is as valid as any other ordered list of 10 values. It's a low probability to get that exact result, but it is valid, and I'm betting you'll never see that again. We're using a proven solution for random number generation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mersenne_twister
Mm-hmm, when rolling a die ten times you have the same chance of rolling 1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1,1 as you have of rolling 1,2,3,4,5,5,4,3,2,1 or 2,4,2,6,5,1,3,1,2,4. People just tend to be wired to view patterns as being less likely outcomes, when they're not less likely at all. After all, getting Yahtzee on your first throw is far from impossible as well, and I've even played a game where two players each managed to do just that on their respective consecutive throws, albeit with different numbers. ^_-
Yeah, this app seems to be a good implementation of the boardgame itself, but not so good introducing new people to the game in my opinion. To really new people, its like being thrown into a swimming pool (without ever being into a pool before) and having to learn to swim by yourself. I'm also having a love/hate relationship with this game so far too..but I'm slowly getting better. As others have mentioned, maybe you can try sticking to one class and learn (through a lot of losing though) the strength and weakness? Maybe try playing focus only on one AI until you can beat them a few time before trying another AI. And try not to be too aggressive and move your units up too fast. Things can go wrong really quickly (which happens to me a lot.. =P lol), but on the flipside, it can also turn to your side just as quickly. I always feel like I'm on an emotional rollercoaster ride with this. But when you finally get a few wins, its deeply satisfying. I'm not sure if you were failing the way I was..but my main mistake, I think, is being too aggressive and move my units up too quickly. This lets the AI build up magic fast and pull out champions. Or I'll be too aggressive and attack with my summoner and lose the game. Overtime, I'm slowly learning to play a little cat and mouse with the AI, and its working slightly better. I'm also summoning a lot less common units (so they won't feed the opponents magic). And the great advice from VeganTnT many posts back about killing your own unit if it looks like no way to avoid their death. Hope some of this helps you... Otherwise, the only other way is to have an update with weaker AI.. Or maybe this game/genre isn't right for you? It does sound like your interested so just keep trying (but try to learn what you did wrong each time)..and don't play too aggressively. This genre of games is one I typically stay away from (not a fan of chess/Final Fantasy Tactics maneuvering type of games), but for some reason I'm actually giving this a real good chance despite now losing maybe at least 30 times to the AI (but I finally have 3-5 wins!). If I can make some progress..there should be some hope for you? =)
Probability yes, statistics is another. Ten times the same roll is something I never saw (and I am not that young )
I never asked for a review, just a post mentioning the release, like the one they have for all big releases and even small ones for the specific day. There has not been a single mention of this or Le Havre so far, not a peep. I'm sure their review of it from Eli will be far from flattering in any case. I mean, don't you see all that 'laughably terrible' art? That's easily 2 stars off the rating and a paragraph dedicated to saying all the events have the same 'laughably terrible' art
Yeah, but there's a very good chance you've also never seen 1,3,5,4,2,2,1,6,4,3 either, and that's the exact same thing, only you wouldn't pay any attention to that combination if it did turn up.
Now jokes aside. I played two matches with the orcs and the Orc summoner rolled always two when attacking (the special effect) ... Now I am pretty verse in probability, stats and random numbers algorithms. And I am sure this is just bad luck. But it is an annoying one!! Ps: and I did see the 123456 sequence few times. Just like I won the lottery three times with one ticket (well won the smaller prices) in three successive draws.
I've just hit the Create Game crash in the online lobby again... -_- I know you guys probably have your hands full with the bugs already posted and some of the Ascension bugs as well, but this one is pretty critical. I'm going to reinstall again, but that has to stop at some point. Also, I hope you guys have your hands full with Martial Law too
I mentioned a couple of pages back about how I lost a match because my summoner used his special ability instead of his normal attack, and the enemy summoner just happened to roll four fives and kill me instantly. I can understand the desire to be suspicious. ^_-
