Okay, next game Cloaks v Unknown! Also, what a typical FK win, pulling Champions out thin air and making the opponent go 'Whaaa?'
does the game have any support for 3 or 4 players? because all i see is 1vs1 in offline mode and trying to create a game online it shows only 1vs1
Only 1vs1 right now. We plan to add 2vs2 once we have a chance to get the map to wrap around correctly.
I'd recommend not playing mercenaries in a Cloaks deck. Master of the Arts is the key to playing the Cloaks well, and your champions have the best abilities to copy. Hawk is awesome because you can have Vlox use Aerial Strike from behind a wall so he doesn't expose himself. It uses up a move, but it's a chance at damage without using an attack. Colby loves to use Blindside to get Vlox near your back row on one turn and then copy Sreal with him the next turn to get him back home.
Oh I knew it was coming I've been testing theme decks online to fine tune them. It sucks to see my win/lose record right now but it's worth it to test against some of the decks that don't have AI.
thanks for the quick response Strangiato well looking forward to that updated in the future overall great game
does anyone faces the weird badge number icon not syncing properly with the number of pending games? I have 0 now but there's still badge showing 2...
Were you counting walls? They aren't Units. We need to cover that better in the tutorial and the rule book.
Yeah, but I only have Nanashi in there mostly to try it out with Gunner, but it's not a good move generally. As for stealing with Vlox, steal is a high risk move that doesn't always work me. I only rarely go for that, more likely I'll use Blindside to simply ambush the summoner. btw my decks weren't restored when I reinstalled the app, but before I had Documents and Data disabled, that would have caused it, right? Haha I was just kidding Yeah, it's hard to test decks with the AI (the custom deck crashes don't help >_>)! I've only played FK, CL and CG so far
Okay, 2 problems and one of them is huge. 1. Unlike Nightfall and Ascension there's no activity indicator in the Games List so I can't see if someone is playing a turn and drop in to play it live. Not a big issue but something I expect from a Playdek game. 2. There's no way to see my deck when playing a game It's okay if you think this is not fair or not faithful to the physical game (like what happened with Nightfall and had to be patched in anyway), but surely you can at least tell me which specific custom deck I'm using. Right now there's no way to know which custom FK deck I'm using and I can't plan for a specific champion or commons. This is hugely annoying
I receive them, I went back into the app, check my game list, making sure I have no pending games under my name, exit the app. See the badge there, went in again, repeated twice. speaking of which, while typing this, I receives 2 more game notifications, went in and played those moves. Check game lobby and making sure I have no more pending moves, pressed home button. The badge is still there showing (2). No biggie here but a little bit of inaccuracy as I need to just check the notification drawer by dragging the thing down from home screen. Those disappeared after I launched the app I assume.
Game Impressions I've been waiting a long time for this app and so far it has not disappointed. I was initially worried by the legibility of the type on the 3GS screen, but once I got past the tutorial level everything is readable (just). While I don't think the absence of a campaign mode takes away from what was delivered, it is something I would dearly like to see included at a later date. I always enjoy working through a set of challenges, especially if it could be used to introduce new players to the basics playstyles of the different factions. There is also a lot of lore behind this game that I'd love to see introduced in a single player offline campaign. At the very least I'd like to see the faction descriptions from the Summoner Wars website put into the game somewhere (unless its in there already and I missed it). I find the little pieces of background and (very basic) playstyle descriptions still add to my appreciation of the different factions and they add that little bit of extra depth to my play experience. Still a great game as is and I will definitely be recommending it to my friends.
@sapphire_neo: you are evil, sir pulling your champion out of thin air and decimating my summoner in a single turn... I'll get Ret-Talus next time around I hesitated to move my summoner in that last turn, but I was like "hm, I don't see what could _possibly_ happen to him in this position"... Overall, thank you very much for exposing me to all these other factions, I'm loving it so far - and even though my ein/lose record doesn't show, hopefully I'm learning a bit as well! I'll re-invite you later today - or we can start a match now, but I'll not be playing at the moment, 'cause I have to work. @VeganTnT: it seems I made the newbie mistake of challenging you for a 24h match - I thought it would be 24h per turn, but it doesn't seem to be like that. If you want, we can just start over a new game, 'cause it seems we are in different time zones and it's unlikely we'll finish it today. As for the ones who added me: thanks, I'll try not to delay our matches too much I asked before, and I'll ask again: is there any way people use to send messages to each other without PM'ing one another here in the forums? I'd like to send a simple "Well played" or something, but it seems Game Center doesn't allow me to send messages to my friends... Suggestions are welcome! Cheers, Paulo
Man that Tundra Orcs win percentage keeps increasing and increasing! Everyone else is kinda stabilizing toward 50% (except cloaks who are decreasing), but the Tundra Orcs keep increasing slowly. Guess thats what happens when you have an easy to learn pubstomp faction. I don't think they'd be as popular/strong in a tournament fashion, but those champs put alot of hurting. Cloaks being hard also explains their win percentage going down, though I've played plenty of good cloak users. Couple of thoughts on Cloaks...: The event that looks at the next 5 cards in your deck is so IMBA. In a way that its still balanced with the rest of the deck but holy cow putting walls at the bottom of your opponents deck and discarding heroes outright is tough shit. Admiral makes your common units invincible for a couple of turns if need be, leading to some cool scraper/summoner assassinations. Your hero can copy the thrasher ability giving it at ~30% chance to trigger the effect, helpful versus other summoners/champs. Scam is a beast, if you have the magic for it. Melee units can't even touch him. Leaving lanes open to thief steals is deadly if you're playing a mass champ deck. Extra draw mercenary can help set up double steals. or more I suppose but I dunno when it'd be very viable. Still, the cloaks feel just a tad too weak. they're bad at killing summoner/champions.
I was pretty sure you were going to read my move and protect your summoner, but I was still hoping to reach some kind of endgame even after that by chasing your summoner around with Skhull and Elut-Bal. As soon as someone with lots of magic places a forward wall that doesn't protect his summoner prepare to block him from summoning units on your side of the board, or at best get your summoner out of there. As for chatting, I still recommend iMessage which is a stock app on iOS 5. PM me your apple id if you're interested in that. rekirtS, I love Cloaks but yeah, their lack of pure hitting power can be a big issue, especially against TO or GD. I'm trying to main them and FK. I need to move on to other factions too at some point.
Playing Cloaks against factions with high hp summoners is not fun (TO and GD are particularly annoying)
I agree about adding something for those who don't play online. Maybe just even a randomized string of matches against all the factions and end with a factions "rival" (if it exists?). Could be similar to Street Fighters' randomized single player mode? Or craft a few puzzle/"extended tutorial" for each faction like Neuroshima Hex Puzzle (with all the cards non-randomized) to teach beginners a few tactics, the finer points in the game, and what to look out for.. I kind of wish Ascension had at least a few puzzles too..but that's another story. But as pointed out, the game itself is still fantastic. This is what I'm mainly waiting for. After all the factions' AI comes it, maybe work on a few setting for the AI (ie: aggressive, defensive, randomized, easy, medium, hard...or anything else). That being said, one of these days I should just try these games online. I'm one of those who prefer playing single player. =P lol..
