It's a problem on Apple's end apparently. You can just google search it since it seems pretty widespread, but someone posted this link elsewhere on the forum: http://www.marco.org/2012/07/04/app-store-corrupt-binaries

Maybe, but no one from playdek wrote on facebook, or here or in the BGC forums to explain the problem and prospect a solution timeline.
It seems that also the playdek abbandoned the game at his fate.

Actually I believe they have. Long story short ... They set the game for a July 9 release once it was approved so that they could be sure they had time to set up their servers, make sure the downloads worked, etc. Apple approved it and pushed it to the app store anyway, ignoring the release date Playdek set.

Pahleeze. Remember, most tech companies are on vacation today (Apple, PlayDek, etc.) Independence Day is usually a 2-day holiday, not just on the 4th.

And keep in mind, Apple is battling something far more serious and pernicious right now. Pushing out SW is probably the least of their concerns right now.

Hero Academy and Outwitters do not feature offline play (NO AI). In the case of Hero Academy, the required Facebook integration is a big black eye. I'll take Summoner Wars any day of the week. The iAPs in Hero Academy, holy smokes. I'm not touching that game again.

Yes i read the post many hours ago, but now? The situation is the same? No one single official word, i would like to see someone from playdek write here and say: ok guys stay calm, we actually are working for a solution.

Since PlayDek would like to make a profit from their opportunity (Summoner Wars), we can logically infer that they are making every effort to rectify the problem with its release.

Yes, very true. Well, I'm not convinced that the smooth transition between async and realtime is the ONLY reason ;), but it certainly is the best example of async-realtime integration I've yet to see pushed across a screen, and a feature that in many ways makes up for all that the Playdek async engine lacks in other regards.

That I am, my carefree, swaggeringly, swashbucklingly nonchalant spelling aside ;)

Certainly not, and probably was not to most readers ;) It was meant as another reminder to Playdek that in spite of their brilliance, their async implementations would be even more conductive to frequent online gaming if they added a few of the popular async convenience features to their engine.

Yeah, good riddance to Duel of the Planeswalkers ;) If I want a sophisticated realtime TCG experience for iOS, with tons of cards and combinations and thousands of deck builds (and I DO want that), Assassin's Creed: Recollection (and sometimes Urban Rivals) is where I go. To return a brilliant card game I used to play in the then adolescent flesh many, may years back only to find that I can not fully customize my deck and that some of the rules have been simplified (not to mention that I'd need to buy an iPad ;) ) is not the digital TCG experience I'm looking for.

For sophisticated async strategy, it is hard (though not quite impossible to my mind, with Starbase Orion lording over all other async titles in terms of depth and sophistication :) ) to do better than Playdek's offerings.

And yeah, I think I see your point, if your point is that Playdek deserves more positive attention in comparison to titles like Duels of the Planeswalkers, and that my criticism, while justified, is not the best publicity.

What RAD Soldiers does have, though, is inter-match progression and persistence (to some, a great and standout feature, to others a drawback, since it means it is harder to face off on a level playing field) and this makes it hard to predict just how varied gameplay will be in the long run. It also makes the comparison less relevant and indicatory, since Summoner Wars is for those who seek the competitive environment of even circumstances and conditions, whereas RAD Soldiers will probably appeal more to those who look for long-term progression and to avoid starting each new match at absolute zero, and the competitive environment that results not primarily (or at least not solely) from outwitting an opponent with the same possibilities and opportunities, but from strengthening and improving your asset over a longer course of time (much like improving a deck in a TCG).

But I really am in full agreement on your analysis of the depth and variety of Summoner Wars' factions. You'd probably have to go to Starbase Orion to find an asynchronous strategy game for iOS that provides more variety and flexibility in replayability.

I'll leave it to your spot-on conclusion to speak for me as well ;)

Incorrect, they've told us as much as they know. It's up to Apple to fix the problem.

Come on Apple or whoever, fix this so I can download and play SW! I'm growing bored of Outwitters, and if I don't get my strategy gaming fix soon I might regress and start playing gasp Call of Duty instead.

    Turn timer explanation

    Hello,

Can someone please explain to me how the turn timer works? I assumed it was how long you would have to take your next turn before you forfeit. IE If I set it to 30 minutes then when I finish my turn the other person has 30 minutes to take a turn before their turn is either passed or they forfeit.

It seems though that I was wrong and it works more like a chess timer. Each player has a timer and from my playing around it seems like it only counts down when you are in the game. In that case a shorter timer seems better so people have to think quickly and not take forever.

That's fine I guess, but how long do we have between turns then before the game times out? I got home from work today and it says I forfeited 2 games. How? I didn't log in all day so my timers shouldn't have been counting.

    Thanks

    -VK

If this desperate, terrifying cry for help can not jolt Apple into action, then its heart is in a damp and dark place, full of spiders, snakes and other things which slither and creep and crawl.

I don't have Summoner Wars (yet), but in other Playdek games it does work like a chess timer. It starts counting down as soon as your OPPONENT finishes their move. Picture a chess match; player A moves and pops the button on the timer, and now player B's time is counting down. It doesn't matter if you're logged in or not. So, watch out. If you make a move just before bed and then log out, and then your opponent immediately makes a move, you'll wake up to find hours have been subtracted from your clock while you were sleeping.
