I have to say that while the trailers don't actually show anything except a lot of quick cuts I am starting to get interested. Much more interested in the upcoming Batman vs. Superman brooding fest. First mistake were those images of Joker which really didn't do a good job. Jared Leto's performance in the trailer quickly undoes those terrible early images that screamed "Trying too hard!!!" So far I love their takes on the characters. I was definitely one of the many skeptical of Will Smith as Deadshot but so far I like what I see. He even wears the mask and everything. I was afraid he was too big a star to allow his face to ever be covered. So far Captain Boomerang looks like the one role Jai Courtney won't screw up, but he had one line in the trailer so there is still plenty of time.
Not looking forward to any superhero movies in the near future. Marvel hasn't made a good movie since the first Ironman. And all DC post Batman movies feel modern Marvel-y as well. And I don't like that one bit.
I'm keeping my hopes low for this and Batman v Superman TBH, why? Just look back and see if there's any good DC movie excluding the Nolan's Batman, see? Also, I don't go to the movies frequently, I almost fell like Snake in MGS 3, I know nothing about movies.
Watchmen and from Vertigo V for Vendetta. Constantine (2005) has quite a fanbase as well and I can see why people like that movie. Watchmen is one of the best comic-book hero movies out there, so Zach Snyder can obviously put together a good movie. Not to even mention Dawn of the dead and 300. I have no idea what happened to him afterwards though. He is very faithful to the source material, but I guess there just wasn't much to work with in the Man of Steel, though even that's not an excuse. Snyder at least brought some style to the film if not the substance, but even that was lacking in the Man of Steel to say the least.
I actually liked Man of Steel but I will agree that it was overwrought. The problem with trying to take the Nolan approach of making things grittier is that they miss a lot of the other aspects that Nolan brings to the table. Making Superman "dark" doesn't work very well. It's fine for Batman and I think the overall tone works great for a movie about villains but I think it's going to make B vs. S a slog. I will probably see it hoping for me epic fights, which is what got me through Man of Steel. I wholeheartedly disagree that there have been no good Marvel movies since Iron Man but I don't think all of them were great. If I recall correctly, the Russo brothers got handed Civil War, which after Winter Soldier I am all for.
True, I totally forgot about Vendetta and Watchmen, both were amazing (I was probably really asleep when I posted that :/ ), well, there's hope for Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad then, I just hope that they avoid the Marvel-esque jokes.
Aww, that's the sweetest thing anyone said about me. You're making me blush. On a different note (but not really); Fant4stic is awful and Deadpool looks cringeworthy.
