First off, thanks for the kind words! And you too, Eoghann. Great to hear you like the L.A. theme Regarding purchases of Outfits for coins: We like the current simplicity. There is a clear separation between getting characters for coins and outfits for keys. We have no immediate plans of changing this due to concerns about the ways this could change the game's economy. If we were to change the way you get outfits, we should also make it possible to get characters for keys and so on. Regarding Awards and deleting Awards: The idea behind Spray Can Awards is to give users a goal to reach for when playing. We think this makes the game more enjoyable. That being sad, it's of course nice to get a reward for reaching a specific Award - besides the 'simple' joy of completing it. That's why we decided to hand out Keys as an extra reward. However, I think it is wrong to look at the Awards as a pure economic investment. Because there's also the excitement of going for certain Awards. Some Awards like the Looking Good Award might 'cost' more in terms of using keys than they reward you. But in this instance you'll also have added a lot of cool Outfits to your collection You will not be able to delete Awards from your Awards screen. I understand why it would be cool with a personalised list. And in theory I think it's usually a good thing to give users the ability to make things their "own". In this instance, however, it won't be possible. Regarding Character sales: As Eoghann suggested we are in fact bringing back "old" characters and boards as part of the Wild Wednesday events. The items are available for purchase with real money. I cannot tell you which characters/boards will be available in the future, though. You'll have to wait and see
Currently, the magazine is only available at news stands in UK and Ireland. The magazine is a project from SYBO, our co-production partner. If it's a success, I'm sure it'll also be available in the US.
Okay, first, please understand that I love the game, and overall I think you guys are doing a great job. So please take the following "complaint," for lack of a better word as coming from someone who has supported this game both in terms of playing it and financially. That said, let's dive into this okay? The problem for me is that, since I have zero intention to pay what I regard as exorbitant amounts of keys for these outfits, which to my way of thinking, is a superfluous part of gameplay to begin with, it puts me in a position of basically having this award "up there" forever, or at least as long as I am still playing the game. The key cost per outfit isn't just bad, its kind of insane. 15 per outfit for the few offered at this price is bad enough, but then MOST of the outfits would cost me 25...or even worse, 40 keys per?? Jeeze, guys, can't you at least rethink that part of it? Look, you asked for feedback and that's mine. Keys are too valuable an in-game commodity to squander them on clothing I neither care about nor would pay that many if I did. The only incentive I would have now is to get that award off my damned screen so I don't have to see it anymore when I go to see what awards I am working on. What you call "the joy of accomplishment" I would normally agree with, but this is really frustrating because I have absolutely, unequivocally NO INTENTION of ever paying so many keys. I mean, if it were just the five outfits, I might bite the bullet, but I will probably never even find out what I need for silver and gold. And what are they, by the way? Twenty outfits for the Silver, then another forty for the gold? YOUCH!! You are talking about thousands of keys as the cost that award. Because I only have 3 or 4 outfits available that cost 15. So start multiplying 25 and 40 keys times however many are needed for the awards, and you will see that this award can only EVER be a source of frustration and annoyance for me. Because I will NEVER EVER EVER EVER EVER swap that many keys. The only way I would is if I decide to hack the game and get the keys free. Then I will pay whatever amount of keys you like. By the way? This is the FIRST TIME in well over a year that hacking the game for keys has ever even been something I would consider. Please, do me a huge favor and take it from a paying customer who has paid real money for stuff just to SUPPORT Killoo, not because I needed what the few bucks I was paying would buy me. Please rethink this award, or at least offer me a way out! However, we are talking about well over a thousand keys as a cost to clear this award. Seriously, I am sort of living with the "Friends Are Gold" award because while it is painfully slow, at least I know that I will eventually get it. This one? No way. Not unless you guys can come up with another way to make this award more feasible. Just think about it and please come up with something. I'm not asking for much here. But even microtransactions that would get me enough keys to buy my way out of this award would cost me hundreds of dollars in real money. And that would be nuts!
Thanks, and no worries We appreciate all the feedback we can get from you guys! I understand your position, and you do have a valid point. However, not all users share your approach. There are a lot of users that think Outfits are a cool part of the game. The Looking Good Award was created with those users in mind. We wanted to give them an extra reason for collecting Outfits. And yes, it will probably take quite some time to reach Gold in the Looking Good Award. But that's not unique about this particular Award. The same applies to the "Friends are Gold", "Board Rider" and 2x "Hunter" Awards. I would actually say that all Awards are designed to be a long-term challenge I don't wish to get too mathematical but... You'll have to own 5 - 16 - 32 Outfits respectively for the Bronze, Silver and Gold Award. However, the amount is progressive meaning that it "only" takes another 11 Outfits to go from Bronze to Silver and then another 16 to go from Silver to Gold. All in all you'll need 31 Outfits to fully complete the Awards (since you get 1 Outfits for Jake for free). That is a large number of Outfits, but it will not cost you thousands of Keys Your idea about hiding certain Awards you don't want to go for is probably the only solution. As I said, though, that's not something we intended when we created the Awards. So we would have to give it a lot more thought before we potentially implement such a feature.
Hey Jeppe, I've been meaning to ask: any specific reason why Prince K is the most valuable character both when purchasing him and his outfits? His alternate costumes are a whopping 100 and 280 keys!
Count me in this group (x2). Considering my lack of interest in "augmenting" my runs, the outfits give me a MAJOR incentive to care about and try to gain keys. The "Kitty" and "Steampunk" outfits alone have made SS fresh for me yet AGAIN, so yeah, thank you for giving us poor purists something to use our keys on... Any thoughts on what to do with 1000s of HBs? J/K OTOH, NOTHING bums me out quite so much as truly unattainable achievements. The outfits are obviously totally doable (trust me ), but it's something to keep in mind, and as a side note, more evidence of how good Kiloo is at making great games (multi-tier system for "Top Run" achievements = Thank you!) DBC P.S. Please, please, PLEASE consider making another shooter vis-à-vis BTHD...
Great! I hope you take my feedback seriously, because I am sure there is a way you guys can offer gamers like me, who are unwilling to part with hard-earned keys, a way out of this award, or a way to clear it that isn't so "costly." Fair enough. I should have phrased that differently. Yes, I can see the cool factor of outfits, even though I personally consider them superfluous for my own gameplay experience. That said, I am not asking you guys to abolish the system, but to adapt it to those like me so we, too, can buy the outfits. Right now, I have 2,895 keys. I busted my ass (metaphorically speaking) to collect them since you implemented keys. I will get to this more in a moment, but suffice it to say, the outfits are too expensive and keys are too valuable. I understand that, but it isn't a matter of time. I can have that award any time I please by parting with an insane amount of keys, which I worked too hard to attain. I will get into numbers momentarily to put this into perspective. Well that's a little better than I thought. I assumed that the number for Gold would be 50. But still, while you didn't want to get into the math, please allow me to, okay? I own one outfit already, only because I bought it with coins. I have steadfastly refused to buy outfits because the "cost" is too high, not only because you are asking for keys BUT the sheer amount: Okay, I have counted the number of outfits that cost 15 keys. There are 18 of them. Then I counted the number that cost 25 keys, and there are three of them. So even if I were willing to pay even the 15 per outfit, which I am absolutely not, that still would leave me short. So I dug further: There are currently 9 outfits that cost 30 each and 3 outfits that cost 40 keys each. Wow, look at that! If I bought all of them, I would have 34 outfits (including the one I already have I purchased with coins), 2 more than what I need! But here is the cost: 18 outfits at 15 Keys a piece 3 outfits at 25 a piece 9 outfits at 30 a piece 1 outfits at 40 a piece 1 I already have That adds up to a whopping 655 keys! Now, granted, you are correct, that isn't thousands. Also, I more than have enough to buy the award now, but that is hardly the point. That is a ridiculous amount of keys to pay! Particularly when there are so many ways you can offer gamers like me who refuse to part with keys to get the award. Look I get that some folks don't care about keys and actually want to get rid of them, and I respect that. I am not one of them. So here are some possible suggestions that might be good for gamers like me, and I assure you if I am complaining about it, there are probably many as well; 1. Charge coins for outfits. Or more accurately, give the gamer a choice. Many gamers would gladly part with keys, but those like me will NOT be left out in the cold because of our refusal to use keys, just like gamers like Drummerboycroy aren't left out in the cold because they can't score anywhere near what I can AND refuse to use boards and keys on runs. You accommodated them, right? 2. Make the microtransactions for keys a helluva lot less expensive. Here's a number for you: If I were to decide to hold onto what keys I have and purchase the keys in the iTunes Store, at $49.99 for 300 keys and $4.99 for 25 keys, I would have to pay over $110.00 in real cash just to buy the keys for the outfits. YOUCH! That brings up another concern: I get the need for microtransactions, but you guys are missing a wonderful opportunity here! I have something like 18 million coins and exactly 2,895 keys, right? You know what you guys have done by pricing coins and keys so high? You have effectively GUARANTEED that anyone who plays the game regularly would never, in a million years, use your microtransaction system. When you first offered the keys, I bought 25 of them just to support Killoo because I love the game. But when someone has, even say 5 million coins and even a thousand keys in their inventory, what could possibly induce them to pay you for stuff? You are basically making sure to price experienced surfers OUT OF THE MARKET because who would pay you $50.00 for 300 keys, $100.00 for 1.2 million coins (or even the much smaller transactions) when they already have a bunch? You have effectively made sure that your microtransactions can ONLY EVER be attractive to a complete n00b who has nothing in his or her inventory! Fine, if that's the only people you are looking to sell to, but don't you think that guys like me would make you more money since we actually play the game? You want to charge so many keys for outfits, fine. Then charge ten or fifteen dollars for 600 keys, and be done with it! You know what? I would pay around that for all those keys just to clear the Award. But I haven't purchased anything from you guys in a very long time. Now if you charged a lower (and I really mean MUCH LOWER) price for keys than you currently charge int he marketplace, even owning as many as I do, I could be induced to buy more now and again, if for no other reason than financial support of your developing team ad publisher. But you're going to have to work with me here is all I am saying. I mean, look, you adjusted the Top Run rankings so people can be in Rank 1 without getting even remotely decent scores. You did this by grading people's scores on a curve. Great! Grade my refusal to part with so many keys on a curve, too, like you did with less skilled gamers so that they could get that award. I think my other solutions are better than hiding the awards to be honest. Hey, charge me a million coins for the 655 keys I need and I am a happy guy. Hell, even better for your financial bottom line, charge ten to fifteen dollars for 650 keys and you will have a helluva lot more people, myself included, who are more enticed to support you guys financially. And its not like it costs you manufacturing, storage, and postage to sell keys! lol Seriously, think about it. Because as the system stands now, no way am I parting with the keys I have and no way am I paying over a hundred bucks to clear the award.
We wanted to create a premium character. That's basically it Due to this we decided to make him look a little more "expensive". Though, like all other characters and outfits he does not give you any gameplay advantages.
Thanks for sharing your point of view and engaging in the discussion As game developers I think our finest responsibility is to come up with various features that enables all of our different users to enjoy the games we make. So I'm really glad you like the Outfits and related Awards! We have an Award planned regarding Hoverboards, but it's going to be some time before we launch it. P.S. Right now we are putting the finishing touches on a new title. It's not a shooter, but I promise you it will be great fun I'm looking very much forward to telling you guys all about it!
Of course we take it seriously. That's why we bother to be active on this forum in the first place Thanks for giving us food for thought! But what you are talking about is changing our entire in-game economy in order for users to be able to clear an Award. I think that's asking too much Naturally, I realise that the Looking Good Awards are not the sole issue at stake - it's rather an example of a larger issue By the way your calculations about the required number of Keys to complete the Looking Good Awards seem right. And you do have a point about microtransactions loosing their value for experienced users with a full inventory. But then again, adding 500K coins to an inventory of 50M doesn't really do anything regardless of the price for the 500K coins. As you point out: If your reason for the purchase is to support us - and thanks btw - there are cheaper price points to choose from. All this is to say that we have used a lot of time designing and optimising the in-game economy and microtransactions! It might have some stains here and there but on the whole we are quite satisfied with it. So I don't expect any major changes to the system. But as said we will of course reflect on your critique!
But Chiro, wouldn't you have A LOT less keys if Kiloo had a more strict system? Like finding keys every 50 runs, awarding 1 key per video watch, only finding one key per mystery box for every 100 you open, awarding far less keys in the challenges? That's an insane amount of keys you have. I'm jealous. I play the game daily, but not nearly enough to amass that amount. I only collect keys for the outfits. I never use them to extend my runs. I consider myself a mid level gamer, you're on the hardcore end of the spectrum, then there's the casual end. I believe Kiloo is catering to as many areas as possible with the current system yet there's no way to fully accommodate them all. And yet I find it quite fair. For the hardcore, it's way too easy, for the mid level it's just enough, and for the casual it might be too strict, which are the ones who more likely fork out on IAP to get outfits or run longer, etc. @Jeppe: heh fair enough. I thought it was maybe one of you guys or something.
You guys bring up some good points, Eoghann and Jeppe and I am not trying to dismiss either of your positions, because in the end, it is not my choice how the game is structured. Jeppe, I purchased several things, as I said, to support you guys. First, I purchased Double Coins, though that was admittedly a cheap buy and a great thing to have! When keys first came out, I purchased two sets of 25 each. Since I already had over 100 keys at that point, I did that for pure "Thank you" support. I agree with you about the coins, Jeppe. I mean, having over 18 million coins in my inventory now, there is no incentive to buy more, even if they were cheaper. So I get how buying coins in the Android or iTunes Stores can be great for newer players. However, have you guys considered perhaps substantially lowering the price of keys in the store? Let me put it this way: Even at my level, I would still buy, say 1,000 keys, if the price wasn't ridiculous. So when you are charging, say $49.99 for 300 keys, one would have to pay over $150.00 for 1,000 keys. Now, I have the feeling that you guys would make a hellva lot more money in the store if you made 1,000 keys, say $20.00. Let me ask you this: Would that really destroy the in-game economy? It would also give gamers like me an alternate route for buying all the outfits, and I wouldn't feel as if I was being "cheated" for a cosmetic upgrade. I get that many of the ideas I came up with are impractical, particularly after your explanation. But considering that you guys don't actually have to pay anything for keys, and they are 100% profit, that is the one area where you could entice gamers even at my level to "buy in" not just to support you, but for selfish reasons as well. Think about it like this: $20.00 is the full price of a bargain bin PS3, PS4, 360, XBox One, and PC game from Steam. Do you really sell so many key bundles of 300 for $49.99 that it's worth turning your collective noses up at a substantial discount for these e-items that don't cost you money for manufacture, shipping, and storage? Again, I get why coins are different. They are so plentiful in the game that any experienced Surfer will likely have millions. But keys are both rare enough AND potentially marketable to even the most experienced Surfers that I honestly believe you guys are missing a HUGE cash-cow opportunity in this arena. You could literally cash in on all the experienced players like me who now would have selfish reasons to plunk down moneys and who are probably not giving you dime-one at this point in time because everyone already bought Double Coins. I firmly believe you fine folks need to seriously consider coming up with marketing strategies that target the high scorers like me, or quite honestly you are missing a potentially huge income stream.
This is the BIG question. As Eoghann pointed out there are other ways of gaining Keys than buying them in the Shop. If we were to lower the buying price, we would thereby also lower the value of Keys in general. Suddenly, it would lessen the incentive for going after Keys on the tracks, watching the daily videos, getting Keys in Mystery Boxes. We could of course then increase the number of Keys on the tracks ect. But quite frankly we are satisfied with the current level, and we do not want to potentially inflate the game's economy. Naturally, we see the game from a business perspective also. But the most important thing for us is to make sure the game is enjoyable and that our users keep on playing A part of this is finding the right prizes for the various items. And we have put a lot of work into this. That is not to say that they are 100% bulletproof. However, we will keep the current setup. We believe that this is the best setup all things considered. But it's really cool that you guys are sharing your opinions
Well I certainly can't tell you how to run your business, and if your position is this irrevocable, then so be it. Apparently you have thought this through, and your revenue stream must be good enough from the video advertising that gives keys and coins to gamers, and you must have more than enough newbie microtransactions that you don't need money from the more experienced guys like me. So if this is the case, then I can't argue with you. I am not your accountant and only you folks know if your revenue stream is satisfactory or not. I do wish you would at least consider more seriously the possibility of at least offering the gamer the choice between paying keys or coins for outfits, but I understand if you cannot see your way clear to doing that. I may try backing up my iPad then immediately buying all the outfits to collect the awards, and then restoring the iPad to the backup in hopes the awards would still be ticked off, so I will have all my keys back, but I suspect that will also lose me the clothing awards because I assume they are stored on the iPad and not on Facebook or Game Center. I am actually working on another possible solution to this that would not involve me hacking the game, but it is a little bit of a cheat. I could buy all the outfits, then back up my iPad right after that. Then I can go on a record breaking run, using a maximum of 650 keys (actually it would be 511 because the next Save Me would cost 512, and that would be a total of 1,023 keys), and as soon as I am done, restore the iPad and get all my keys back I spent on that run. I know the score will still stand because high scores are stored on the Internet and the game servers and not just on my iPad. This way, in effect, I get my keys for the outfits back. It's a little cheap on my part, but the alternative is to hack the game for more keys, which I totally don't want to do. So this will be the first time I ever "cheat" on this game, but I think I can live with it lol.
Hi! I'm a spanish fan and i love your game! But guys, can you do Yutani have a new outfit, but with normal clothes? or create another girl character with brown hair? I want play with a girl without blonde hair... And can you do Subway Surfers World Tour: Chile? Its a amazing country, with so much ambients! and for the train you can put the transantiago! If you guys do this, the chilean people will buy all! (me too!) because we like spend money! Best Wishes, A fan of your game
There's quite a few brunettes in the game already. Rosa, Mina, Frizzy, Carmen, Kim, Harumi. Unless you mean like a Latina? I would definitely like another suit for Yutani. A retro spacesuit and a modern spacesuit would be awesome.
Hello SpanishHappyFan, Thanks for the kind words and welcome to the forum. There will definitely be a girl character with brown hair in one of the coming updates! Just wait and see - I think you will be pleasantly suprised However, I don't think we will give Yutani new Outfits. She's a special character in that regard. I'm sure a visit to Chile would be awesome. The destinations of the World Tour is a secret, though. We want them to be a surprise for everyone. So I can't really tell you where the Surfers are going or if Chile is part of their travel plan.
Beijing Update Hi guys, A new update is out for Subway Surfers! Follow Jake and his friends to mystical China and paint trains in the Beijing Subway. In Beijing we are introducing Board Upgrades! This feature lets you unlock and add special powers to selected boards. To specify, you can add the Zap Sideways power to the Superhero board and a new Star Trail power to the Starboard. When unlocked, youll be able to toggle powers on and off. In each update after Beijing there will be a new power upgrade for another two boards, and so on. Eventually all regular and limited boards will have two power upgrades to choose from - and you will even be able to combine both powers for one, massive Board Upgrade! Want to try something different? How about surfing the Subway for a specific score without picking up coins! Its actually harder than it sounds, but those of you who succeed will be rewarded with new Coin Cautious Awards. Have fun in Beijing! Feedback and questions are very welcome. I will do my best to answer.
