Seoul Update Hi guys, The second 2014-update for Subways Surfers is out now. This time the Surfer crew is traveling to Asia - and the destination is Seoul, South Korea. We’ve done our best to capture the city’s unique blend of tradition and modern high tech. I hope you’ll all enjoy the setting and have a great time exploring Seoul! Be sure to check out Mina, the brave pop girl, if you need a new surfer buddy - and maybe bring the limited Bubblegum board along for a ride! Mina has also brought an extra Robo Outfit to blend in with the high tech environment of Seoul. And talking about Robots - that’s also what you need to collect in the Weekly Hunts. As always, feedback and questions are very welcome. I will do my best to answer.
Nyc 2014 Hi guys, The Subway Surfers are back at the very first World Tour destination, New York City. We’ve added a completely new feature and ramped up the graphics significantly compared to the last visit. Hopefully this means that you’ll have a great time grinding the Subway again with Tony, the New York special character. As mentioned the update brings a new feature. From now on you’ll start of the week in adventurous fashion in the Mystery Monday event. Here you’ll be able to search for a new type of powerup called Super Mysterizers. When you pick up this powerup you’ll get a randomised boost. There are four possibilities: 1) “Hoverboard-ride” - you get a ride on a random board 2) “+5 Multiplier” 3) “Double Coins” and last but certainly not least my favorite: 4) “Double Jump” - you can boost your jump midair to leap wider and/or higher and for instance jump onto a moving train directly from the tracks. And if you are already wearing Super Sneakers the jump becomes even more crazy! The Liberty board from New York is also back in the Subway, and you can upgrade your collection with cool outfits for Tony and King. As always, I’ll appreciate your feedback and questions - and especially what you think of the Mystery Monday feature!
Thank you for the kind words! It's great being back in NYC. We used a lot of time to make it look and feel like the real deal Did any of you guys try the Mystery Monday? I would love to get your feedback!
Mixed emotions from me on the Mystery Monday. Most of the mystery powerups are great, but the double jump is really something that needs some work. I use the bouncer board and of course the sneakers. When the double jump is activated it seems to completely mess up the first jump when you have the sneakers or bouncer board activated. With the board it isn't as much of a big deal, because crashing just loses the hoverboard, but when you have your sneakers activated and you are expecting a certain level of height from your jump, it can (and has) cause me to prematurely crash.
Hi ChiroVette, Thanks for sharing your thoughts! I think it's a question of getting used to the new feature. I did multiple runs yesterday with your comments in the back of my mind. It didn't mess up my jumps - but for sure you'll have to remember that you can boost your jump midair with the Double Jump powerup, which can be tricky especially on max speed Did any one else experience problems with the Double Jump powerup?
Jeppe, I think the double jump is awesome in theory and I have enjoyed it in many console games, such as some of the sandbox Spider-Man titles on the PS3/360, Ratchet & Clank, etc.. However, the problem I have with the double jump in SS is only when you have the sneakers and/or Bouncer-board activated. What happens is that the first jump of the double jump is midway between the height of the regular jump and the sneaker/bouncer jump, which can throw off timing a bit. But what really ends up being an issue is that it is often hard to tell when the double jump wears off so it can confuse the timing. Honestly, I am no n00b at this game and I definitely find that the double jump can be a little annoying. What makes it worse is that you only come across it once a week. This means that getting used to it is dubious at best because it is difficult to consistently practice with it. Another suggestion may be to lengthen the powerup time to thirty seconds like the fully upgraded regular powerups. Perhaps you can offer the ability to upgrade the mystery powerup times the same way you do the other powerups.
Hey, anyone want to lay odds on the next city being Mexico? Tonight's Daily Challenge was "Mex." Gee, I wonder if that was a clue? Edit/Delete Message
Yeah I'm pretty sure it's Mexico. They posted a teaser pic on the FB page and the new girl surfer is cute.
Re double-jump: What if it had some value even with the Super Sneakers? Like a dash forward that keeps you in the air longer? So your single-jump would be a full-height sneaker jump, but an optional swipe at the right moment would dash you ahead a bit? Failing that, maybe let the sneaker-double-jump be extra high, like when you sneaker jump while roof-walking. Not actually useful, but it would do what the user expects and wouldn't interfere with regular sneaker jumping.
This is definitely not what's intended. The Double Jump powerup should not interfere with the height of your jump, but give you the ability to boost your jump midair. As I said, I haven't been able to reproduce the jump. We will review the feature and see if everything is working as planned. That is a good suggestion. It is always cool to be able to get more of something if you like it We would just have to figure out if the upgrade should be universal or individual, i.e. you can upgrade the Double Jump, Board-ride ect. one at a time. Thanks for sharing your thoughts!
This is exactly how the Double Jump is intended to work As for your other idea: It would also be awesome to get this kind of Mega Jump! It would resemble the Power Jumper (pogo stick), but you would be able to perform the jump several times. We will keep this in mind for potential future additions to the Mystery Monday
Mexico City Update Hi guys, The Subway Surfers World Tour continues in North America. For the fourth update of 2014 Jake and his friends will visit Mexico City. In Mexico City you will experience two new settings. Surf through rich marketplaces and beautifully daring cliff landscapes straight out of a western film! Im really fond of the graphics from Mexico City and think its a refreshing change from the skyscraper packed city of New York. The crew teams up with the elegant surfer Rosa. Together with Brody, Rosa has even brought a new Outfit - and her Outfit has a heroic and rather distinctive reference! If you dare, you can get your hands on the limited Prickly board picturing the characteristic saguaro cactus found many places in Mexico. And if you are even more hardcore, you can collect spicy chilies in the Weekly Hunts and win hot prizes along the way! As always, feedback and questions are very welcome.
Wow I love this update! I agree it's refreshing to see the desert landscape. One observation, I believe the "fox" outfit isn't Mexican. He's a Spanisn nobleman from California. Haha. Very cool nonetheless! Perhaps a Dia de Los Muertos outfit for rosa? That would be pretty sweet.
Im disappointed at the destinations the last months, to many similar places. When are you gonna take it to norway, denmark, sweden, egypt, finland and all these interesting countries?
Cool. I guess I haven't gotten it often enough to have a good feel for it--it tends to kill me but I'm not sure why! Still, variety is a fun thing.
Yeah, let's call it "artistic licence" The story is originally set in California, but we liked the Outfit and thought it matched Rosa perfectly. Glad you like it too As for the Dia de Los Muertos idea: That would be really bold! We would have to find a way to make it look less "dramatic", but it might work. I'll share the idea with our team of artists!
