I feel like a broken record, but yeah, I'm fairly certain GC does not play nicely with most of the games I own... Going back to Kiloo's BTHD, after they put in the load screen showing the GC connect, you could practically see the bottleneck in real time. DBC
Really like the update, woke up today and found this. Thanks Kiloo! Edit: Holy Spit, I just got a coin bag from the silver box of 300k coins. Wow, that's both awesome and taunting (pretty sure I just my monthly supply of coins in those few seconds.).
Thanks for the kind feedback guys. We've really put a lot of work into this update! New character, brand new hoverboards with special abilities, and of course the complete Holiday Theme - hope you like it! Also there's a free gift waiting for you in the Hoverboards shop. If you've had problems with loading times and crashes before, please try the new Update. We keep improving the process every time.
Am I imagining things, or does the new update gain speed during the run faster than the previous version?
Hello! This is my 1st post here but i just had to post my problem... When i reach about 2 million in score and i try to use a hoverboard, the game REALLY slows down for me (fragments) to the point where it becomes unplayable. Im using Ipad 1 and 5.1.1 ios. Is it just me or this happends to others as well? Is there anyway to fix this? Yes with the previous version the game crashed a lot but at least i didnt have any problems completing a run. With all this being said it is still a great game which i enjoy a lot! Thank you!
You're not the only one. I used to have pretty flawless runs before the Xmas update. But now, when I get past 800,000 I experience a ton of lag. I'm only able to get farther by using hoverboards. But even then I crash a lot. I only got up to 1,200,000+ because I used like 15 hoverboards in that run. haha Maybe it's the Xmas scenery..or too many GC friends. I'll delete some and try again, see if that helps. Edit: Nope. Didn't help. I deleted a couple of users that have had the same low score for months now, so I figured they don't play the game anymore. I did notice some mild lag starting past the 60K mark, but it really started to get bad at the 80K mark for me. After that it was like watching a stop motion film. I crashed at the 1,090,000 mark.
Yeah, I experience lag as well. My iPhone 4 doesn't work too nicely with this game. Its lower CPU power is likely to blame. Lag has long been an issue for me in this game that I struggled to keep the character alive by the frequent use of hoverboards. Things did not improve much over the past few months and I was forced to abandon going for the top score early on. It was impossible for me to go any further as things speed up and the character does not respond to my swipes. Most of the time he dies in the middle of a lag. I once doubted if it was me who did not respond fast enough causing the character to crash. I then experimented with the force and length of the swipes to replicate the actions during the crash. It turns out that my maneuvers that fail to bring the character out of the crash are actually working when there is no lag. The character jumps and switches lanes with even the slightest and most gentle swipe when things are normal. Since the holiday update comes out, I pick this up again and try to go for a high score. But the lag is just getting worse. In one occasion I was able to count a 3 second lag before the character crashed into a train without listening to my controls. Closing all other applications on the multi-task bar isn't enough to help. Maybe I should get a better device before trying this again.
Yeah, in my case it either registers them too much or not at all. If my character isn't slamming into sides of trains, she's crashing into them. That's only past the 80K mark though, before that it's pretty flawless. There must be some memory leak or something. I doubt it's phone related, coz my scores are witness that it is possible to reach 1 million points without any lag. My current high score was achieved that way. It was a flawless, straight run. It's hard to say if this update is the one giving me lag or if it's an old issue. Because my girlfriend had made me promise I wouldn't beat my own score (coz she wanted to beat me and if I kept raising the bar it would never happen, haha). So I had to keep deliberately dying if my score got too high. xD But after she lifted the ban I started noticing the lag. So I can't say for sure how long that issue has been present.
I love the art style in this game. I downloaded it and I enjoyed it very much. It runs pretty good on my iPad 1, but on my iPhone 4 I do experience some lag.
I did a little research before I put my foot in my mouth because I'm not very technical with the inner workings of iDevices. But I was assuming the iPhone 4 was more advanced than the iPad 1 for several reasons. My assumption was confirmed upon finding this: It's so strange we experience lag on a device that's supposed to be more advanced than the ones not having problems. How far are you getting on both devices? I start seeing lag past the 60K mark, it gets pretty bad past 80K points.
Hi guys, thanks for posting the information about the lag. It sounds like there's a new bug hidden in the game unfortunately and I will forward all the details to our development team. Hopefully we can get this solved as fast as possible. Though the iPhone 4 is getting older, it should be running quite smoothly and the type of lag you experience definitely shouldn't occur.
iPhone 4 isn't that obsolete yet, specially of there are reports of the game running fine on iPad 1. Another small bug (I kinda like it though)
sorry didn't mean it that way, relatively I should have said. In developer terms it's sort of getting up there in age, since we've had two new generations following the iPhone 4. Still there's no reason for not supporting it, as it's still a great device, so I'll make sure we get the performance improved. @Eoghann: Strange! Do you remember if something specifically happened before that bug?
These bugs sorta sneak up on you. So I wasn't paying attention for anything specific. It's happened a couple of times before, I'll keep an eye out for it.
Think I figured out what causes the bug: first runs. I launched the game, and on my first run after I crashed, the bug popped up. I played 15 more runs after that and nothing, it was all good. I closed the game and relaunched it, bug happened again on the first run. Tried a third time and the pattern seems to point tha'st the cause. Maybe a delay in loading the texture for the first time? Hope that helps!
No offense taken, I was just teasing you! As for Eoghann's bug, I got it last night as well. Nothing more special than me dying before it showed up, and it didn't last for me. To be honest, if I were suggesting places to troubleshoot, it looked like a processing/timing thing? Almost like something that should have taken less than a second (thus being unnoticeable) being stretched out a bit? Edit: Whoops, ninja'd! I think I agree with Eoghann about the "First run" part. I can check again later if it helps, but I'm fairly certain... DBC
This game is very addictive. Wife and 2 year old son are loving it too. Not experienced any lag yet fortunately (iPhone 4S, iOS6), maybe because I'm struggling to get over 300k boo hoo. 800k, 1200k? Wow that's impressive! Something to aim for! Are there any plans for more updates - new obstacles, power ups etc? Not actually needed, but just interested.
Hi! Thank you for your kind feedback, I'm glad you like the game. We are planning a number of new updates, can't say what they'll contain at the moment, but will keep you posted. Speaking of updates, we have a new performance update out in the app store. Everyone who's had problems before should download it and check out the new improvements.
