Well hell. Wonder why it won't work for me? Tried restarting and clearing the taskbar to no avail... Oh well.
Looks like it is Game Center related. The game plays fine until Game Center connects. As soon as the welcome banner from GC goes away the game freezes up, then the game closes a few seconds later
Yeah, sometimes it will take a while for the achievements to sync, really depends on Game Center. Thanks for all the feedback so far, I'm sorry that some of you are still experiencing start up problems, most likely you have a bunch of GC friends that the game have to load at the beginning. We'll see what we can do about it, keep the suggestions coming. We are preparing a new update within too long.
I feel like I've been saying this for quite a while now, but something appears to be wrong with Game Center in general, and I think it affects the games attached to it adversely. I've knocked my friends list down to just over 90 (), hoping that would fix issues with multiple GC-enabled titles, but even now, loading GC itself takes forever (as a stand-alone app), and I often get error messages that operations cannot get completed. If that is the way GC behaves on it's own, I can only imagine games connecting to it would experience some difficulties... DBC
It always freezes at the start then GC window pops up but after 10 seconds it works just fine. Anyways game is really fun and feels rather different to Temple Run. If you liked TF no reason not to try this.
For the new update: I really don’t like the new curves. They give me a headache eventually and it’s bothersome. Some say it makes the game more realistic, but I don’t know, it was fine before. Even so, I would take a comfortable playthrough rather than get myself wobbly I would appreciate that there be an option to include and exclude the curves. (For the people that to choose between the new and old way) I hope this update isn’t permanent and Kiloo continues to tweak Subway Surfers to everyone’s liking. Beside that, I think its was a good update.
The so-called curve had been around since the game was in beta. It was because of a bug that makes the track to turn left in the first release (as opposed to straight as many people think). I have since expressed my view on the track curvature with the developer and told them that a less curvature makes the game easier. In this update I can observe that the degree of curvature is reduced from what was in the beta and I feel comfortable with this update.
I never noticed the curve until someone mentioned it. I was more focused on not planting my face into a train I suppose. I like it though. Shame it makes other users experience discomfort. Aside from the usual lag I experience when first launching the game and right before GC is logging in, I have noticed some drastic lag when approaching player markers. Especially the higher scores ones. I guess it's Gamecenter loading that info that causes the lag. I was thinking: Instead of seeing markers for every single player we have on our list as we run; to only display the markers of the players who have higher scores than us. That way, each player we beat will get their marker erased as we beat their score. I have like 25 friends on there, and only 7 have higher scores than me as of right now. Yet with every run, I have to zoom past the other 18 scores, and I believe GC has to load them all, causing the mid race lags.
Yeah, we're sorry about the curves and discomfort caused to some users. It was such an integrate part of the game for so long that we simply got used to it being there, seems like most people prefer the track to stay in one place, so we'll be fixing this. Regarding the pictures & friend markers, this was actually the way it was before the recent update, but a lot of users had requested more competition with all of their friends and that's why we changed it. All pictures should be loaded at startup, but if you are experiencing slow-downs around the markers, we'll take a closer look at optimizations. We are definitely not done updating Subway Surfers, and will continue to improve the game with new features.
If that were at all possible, a slider or switch to adjust the curve of the road would be pretty awesome. I personally like the curving, and I'd go as far as saying I'd like a bit more of it. Even uphills and downhills. xD Feels more natural.
Im tired of buying mystery boxes for 500 coins and receiving 250 or less coins as the prize. How cheap is that??? Also how bout rewarding the players that constantly purchase the mystery boxes.
I always noticed the curves (they’re not new but they used to always go left) and I always liked them! They actually sometimes help you see powerups that would otherwise be hidden until you got closer. Now there is LESS curvature than there was. The curvature now varies between left, right, and straight ahead—which I think is very cool. So while it used to curve all the time, now it only curves maybe 2/3 of the time. Ironic that people notice it now that there’s LESS of it. So I say: keep it as is! It’s a cool effect, and you will never please everyone. And people will get used to it: they already WERE used to it, they just never noticed it somehow! It also adds variety to the experience. Always a good thing.
@bravo two: I'm pretty sure the beta's curves was not so "violate," even through long distances. And... I'm starting to get used to the curves. Its not bothering me as much as my first playthrough with the update. @Eoghann: I like the toggle idea.
Yeah, we've been tweaking the curves for quite some time and then for the original release they were somehow turned off. Thanks for the feedback guys, we understand that some like the curves and some don't. However, for now we'll go back to the left curve system so people won't get seasick, but we'll see what we can do about the "curve slider" or something similar that'll make it more smooth and subtle. The toggle is definitely a great suggestion!
