Have to say, this game is great!!! Me and my allied were stuck in a 3 vs 2 war that was goin nowhere. We started messaging our enemies saying that there allied was ploting against them and boy did there alliance crumble and fast. I'm loving this game! Already bought the full version to support the devs.
Suggestions: -when a player resigns or is eliminated, his installation shields are automatically dropped, his drillers don't participate in combat and are automatically captured. -ability to toggle a private icon on your display indicating players with whom you have an alliance. When you play multiple games simultaneously, it's easy to lose track of this, and player notes is a clumsy way to manage it. -more tactical puzzles. -landscape mode
Is it worth buying the full version? As above.. feel multiple commands is useful, but i don't envision playing more than 1 game at a time simply because i wouldn't be able to keep track of everything.
I'd disagree with the first point; players resigning are bad enough, but opening up their territory to neighbouring players for free land grabs are an order of magnitude worse than that. It might - barely - be ok if all players had equal access to the resignee's former territory, but in an 8 or 10 player game, the entire game's balance gets thrown off. Not to mention the potential for cheating with friends in rated games. Of course, resigning in the late game when your cause is a proven loss is entirely different, but I still believe the current rules should stand. I'm not quite sure the second point would see much usage. Alliances are not hard and fast in Subterfuge, and they are established in degrees; I could belong to a hard alliance which I am extremely loyal to, at the same time belong to yet another 'alliance' which I'm ready to doublecross at anytime, and have a peace pact with a third, while maintaining a tense standoff with a fourth. How do you indicate all those? I agree 100% with the third and fourth points.
I love this game !!! Now about 40 hours away from the end of my first game, i am about to win, just decided to betray someone for the first time. The guy told me "i am disappointed, hope i will never meet someone like you ever again" I answered "i indeed betrayed you, isnt this what this whole game is about ?" Leaving him silent. This whole game was about me keeping a big territory and having other people hiting peopke with mines, just so i can build 2 of my 3 mines at once with huge territory, rising my neptunium production to 51 per day. I had so much fun, take my 12CAD developpers, i will play this for a long time ! XD
Depends, my friends would actually laugh at getting stabbed in the back, thing is they dont like slow games like this... So i guess ill never be able to try the theory
I'm loving this game. I think the slow pace of the real time play coupled with the ability to send commands in the future is brilliant. Has anyone been able to solve the "advanced 3" tactical puzzle? I can survive the first boat by promoting the lieutenant and hiring 2x assassins or saboteurs then intercepting the first boat with a pirate and two other boats with specialists before he gets to my outpost but even after the shield recharge from the inspector the second boat wipes me out. I'm out of ideas...
I really hope this game gets the attention it deserves and a solid player base. It's a fantastic multiplayer strategy and I love the slow pace, especially as someone who never has consistent play time. I just squeeze it in whenever I can and there's never a rush. I just finished my first game this morning after 11 days and came in 2nd place, based on a solid alliance with the guy in 1st and otherwise staying out of trouble. Starting the second one tonight and I'm super excited to have this to look forward to in the coming days.
I'm really loving this game. Produces some of the most intense tension in my 25+ years of playing games! My second game is going to end in a day. 3 main powers left plus 3 small players . Main powers are me, Orange and Blue. Earlier, Blue was 1st, me 2nd and Orange 3rd. I had the spent the whole game allied with Orange. I tried to attack Blue so that I could lead and got my butt kicked. I then proposed that the 3 of us accept the status quo, take the 3 winners slots, and refrain from attacking each other. The Orange built another mine deep in his territory. He took the lead, Blue 2nd, me 3rd. I was too weak after my attack on Blue so I didn't mind, plus he didn't break the agreement to not attack each other. Shortly afterwards I see a Blue submarine with a large attack force on it heading for my factory near an Orange mine. Blue messages me saying not to worry, he is using a Navigator specialist on that sub and will reroute it to hit that Orange mine at the last minute, so Orange won't see it coming. I was annoyed at Blue for breaking the pact, immediately told Orange what was coming, carefully looked at sonar ranges and sent Orange every last man I could spare without Blue being able to see them. Orange couldn't counter attack fast enough and Blue initially took the mine, moving up into first position , then Orange, then me. But to make that attack, Blue left a mine near me relatively weak. Using helmsmen specialists I was able to quickly move enough of my guys around to take take his mine and then evacuate it, rescuing a specialist held prisoner there, and leaving a suicide bombing specialist behind who would blow up the mine permanently if he tried to take it back. The loss of the mine and its production dropped Blue to 3rd, upped me to second, and Orange's successful counterattack on the mine took him up to 1st. Blue has a counterattack going to that mine I took but my suicide bomber will deny it to him.
Just finished my 2nd game, i got first place twice ! Third game about to be over, this one i got wrecked big time... Im now starting one normal and one rated game, im deeply in love with that game and can see myself play it for many months to come.
I'll give this a try to but I haven't been a big fan of multiplayer games before... Unclear how this can be multiplayer but also slow paced when the individual player has time to play? I would appreciate someone letting me know how exactly multiplayer plays out with the flexibility to play at your own pace etc....?
I've held back from the thread-bumping until I've had a few games but now no.3 is well underway.... Is anyone here still playing this? It's an utter joy. I know this thread's a bit elderly but I'd love to hear from any old hands or maybe tempt some fresh blood. If my desert island had wifi, this would probably be the one.
