Hey I'm a sophomore in high school and I'm interested in studying in Spain next year for the academic year. I was wondering if any of you had any experience on foreign exhange and could give me tips and recommendations.

Also, do you think junior year is a bad year to miss because that's the year most kids apply to college?

I really want to do this but not if it'll make it impossible to apply to college.

Where the hell do you go to school! Here at my school, we don't apply until we are seniors(just a few more weeks until I'm one :D) and nobody does study abroad, that is normally saved for college.

Ha I just go to a public school but they stress applying junior year. So I should be fine applying senior year then?

And about saving it for college, foreign exhange is actually designed for ages 15-18 so now is the prime time for me to do it.

    Thanks guys.

Your school seems backwards then, visiting colleges is suggested during your junior year, and applying during your senior year. As for study abroad, I don't think my school even has one, however it is something mentioned at every college tour, so it is definitely not designed for high schools, more for college students.

A senior last year did it his junior year, so sounds about right. You could always fill out the applications before hand, and have your parents... actually, no, I'm still a sophomore and have no idea what I'm talking about. Nevermind.

Studying abroad is a great experience. I did my bachelor's in the USA, my master's in France and Doctorate in Canada. When you go out of your country, you learn to love your country even more. You also learn to be more open to the world because you meet nice people, new ways of life...etc.
