It's on sale now for $0.99. It says live score table. Is that a global leaderboard? Can somebody who has the game, verifiy that?
I see, I misread it. So then it is a global leaderboard? I just never heard it called a 'live' score table.
Hmm, ok, i'll change description . Yes, it will be a global leaderbord. And local highscores will be availaible too.
What a great business model! Developers are free to set sales whenever they please. All this "reward early adopters!" crap is patently ridiculous. Did "early adopters" of DVD players or Plasma screen TVs get "rewarded" with low introductory prices?
That is an inherently flawed comparison, as hardware does get cheaper to manufacture over time, whereas software does not. Software only improves over time as the developer provides updates, therefore it is logical that software should start cheap and then (gradually or not) increase in price.
On the other hand, what software for any other gaming platform starts cheaply and then increases in price?
One might say that console games that support downloadable content get more expensive, since you pay for more content for the same game. You are paying for updates to your software, which is similar to how some iDevice apps do it - they start cheap, then get more expensive as features are added. Case in point, iDracula, but there are others as well.
It's a catch 22 of the iTunes store. You have many indie devs who have a concept in mind and bring them to the store. But they have limited resources and rely on sales to generate more resources so they can continue to update the game. If there is no interest, then the updates won't happen. The customers basically fund or don't fund the life and evolution of the game.
Absolutely! Without Uggles being featured by Apple Inc and seeing the associated sales it's highly unlikely we would have added the collectable aspect to the game. And now with sales tailing off again, we would like to add openfeint, but can't justify it without a sales increase! Fun eh
I hear what you're saying but.... In the business world, entrepeneurs realize the whole concept, not some half-assed concept (not using Stronghold as an example by any means) and ask people to buy their product and then they will improve because it's not complete. Products can always be improved upon but an entrepenuer finds a way to have as much as their concept come to fruition either by taking loans or partners if in need of funding or just their time and releasing a completely finished product in 1 year as opposed to 3 months (again, not using Stronghold as an example) Edit: It's not supposed to be the customer taking the risk, it's supposed to be the entrepeneur!!
I hear where you're coming from too... It's a slippery slope, and it's definitely not an excuse to come out with a half-developed product. The other way to look at is that there is a lower pricing scale in iTunes so while many are taking the risk, they're hesitant to put all their eggs in one basket.
Any plans for a lite version? I hate wasting monney-it doesn't matter whether it's $5.99 or $.99. I was able to save myself $2.99 thanks to the Galaxy on Fire demo. Not that it's a bad game-it just wasn't my cup of tea.
I decided to purchase the game for a dollar, I enjoyed the concept but found the price to be a tad high for the amount of content the current version offered. I look forward to future updates and wish the developer good luck. :]
