Ryu is just OP. mirror matches are whoever mind f**ks the best. :D

I played Macky yesterday and he is a good Ryu too. The guys I have most issues with are Blitzking and Hikarumage. They are really good at the mind F**k. :D. I'm not mentioning Squall cause he just runs me over. :(

Macky isn't as good as he was in Volt. If I remember correctly, he's back to his RQing ways too. Hikarumage is very good but his lag is OP. I don't think Blitzking is in the same category but I haven't played him recently. Also, my opinion differs depending on whether I'm using Kaz or Rolento (although I'm out of practice with Kaz).

OP lag :D. It's funny how he is so used to his laggy connection that he rarely drops anything.

Learn to use Cross Counters. Stick with immense power.

Start with training mode and arcade. The AI is too stupid, so you'll learn some cool combos while knowing every char's attacks.
About chars... just select the couple you want. The game isn't too balanced, but it's still all about the skill. Most players start with Ryu/Kaz.

What kind of experience do you have with fighting games? Do you understand the basics about normals, specials, combos, etc.? Do you already know what characters you plan to use?

I always fight vs newbyes, a part a player named Thiago that was quite good and he beat me because I was using Hugo and Kaz! I'm strong with Ryu and Chun

Well first thing to do is play around with the characters and figure out which ones you like. Once you do that, it'll be a lot easier to give advice. But general advice for all characters is to know your characters' moves inside and out. You will then start to learn matchups and know when you have opportunities to punish your opponents on block or whiff (and vice versa). As someone else said, play around in training and arcade modes to get a feel for the characters and game overall.

I think I played him a long time ago. Interesting to see Guile as an anchor. I don't think that's a great position for him, but what do I know?

On that note, who do people feel are better suited for point? For anchor? Which ones can handle both? From experience, I think that Kaz is best suited on point and Hugo is best suited as an anchor. I think Rolento and Sim are best suited for point as well. From the ass-kickings I take, I think Ryu and Nina are definitely suited for point.

Half the people on the app store are too clueless to figure out how to turn off the fight requests. :D

I was previously using Guile/Ryu in that order. But Ryu is just so insane. I'm switching up to try ryu as main. With guile as anchor, he's just a bad ryu. I wish I could have 2x Ryu.

I agree that rolento would be a bad anchor.

I thought the same, but wow, those were really tough fights. He wasn't playing lame with Guile (you know, walking backwards while using Sonic Boom, etc) so that was a huge surprise since everyone who uses Guile only runs away.

About point and anchor characters (main and second, right?) I've been using Hwo/Paul from the start. As you know, Hwo doesn't deal great damage, but its main pro is that you can do LOTS of combos from nowhere, and he can be a beast if you know how to handle his heel kick/chainsaw kick. His Air Raid is his most useful special. And no one uses Hwo, so people don't expect some attacks. Yes, I'm very proud of the skill level I reached with him
If I remember correctly, apprunner was also using Hwo before using Heihachi, so I'm sure he also has some pros for Hwo as point.
About Paul, he is the one who deals great damage in my couple. I still have to train a lot, but his combos are just mindblowing. That's why I use him as anchor.
As you see I don't have any fireball character, but Hwo's Air Raid+Special Step is enough to engage close combat, while Paul's jumps and grabs do the trick if I have some serious problems (really low health, for example).
Kaz/Heihachi is a cool couple too. I sometimes use them since the last update. Kaz is a great point because of his combos and such, but Heihachi is the one who really takes the lead here. His special "Cross Cancel", his Cross Cancel and his fw+p are quite useful. His weak point is his speed though. He's too slow, and his jumps just suck, that's why he should be anchor.
About the other characters, Hugo for anchor, Nina for point, Ryu for point, Chun-li for point, Sim for point, Rolento for point, King for anchor and Guile for point.
But that's just my opinion. Any character can be used as both point and anchor as long as you know how to use them.

Wow, has anyone tried to play an old replay since the update? Man, they are all kinds of messed up :( a few of my matches both players just end up standing around staring at each other :/

So I'm new here and thinking about picking up this game(or just wait till Vice City on Dec.6) but I have a couple questions:

1.I heard there's a credit system for online where it's 1 credit per match and once your credits are gone then you can no longer play online for a set period of time. Is that true and if so does it go away once you pay or play the game more?

    2. A friend of mine told me that when he had the game a couple months ago, the netcode was disgustingly laggy. Is that still true for the most part or has it improved?

Since this is on sale for 0.99 I was thinking about picking this up now and getting VC later since that game is permnantly $5(which is all I got left in my itunes wallet).

The credit system is still in place but it now only takes 20 minutes to recharge a credit. Plus, they usually do a special every weekend (5 credits instead of 3, max sp, faster recharge for credits).

As for lag, it's much better but can definitely still improve. You can also tell if there's lag on the character select page so you can quit on that screen and search for a better connection.

If you're just playing to have fun, arcade mode and dabbling in online is definitely fun. If you want to be good, it takes a lot of time but is worth it.

    Yep that happens.

I'm pretty sure it's because the combos have their damage rescaled with the new damage scaling system and also the small damage nerfs.

The replays aren't actually replays. It's just a list of moves and commands.

I think it is absolutely necessary for an anchor to have a cross counter that sends away the opponent full screen (ie King, Paul, especially Ryu). You really cannot afford a hard tag-in when a cross art can do upwards of 70% with Immense Power 5.
