zangief haha. but since then I figured out how to get through a spamming dhalsim. :]

and I don't know if it's just me...but recently it feels like ALL the ryus and kens are doing the same jump-in kick combo to dragon punch or hadouken over and over and over.

Yes yes, that's the general trend! Jump Kick/uppercut mix with a few slams. Sometimes the jump kick gets crossed over as well... Oh well, just press SP and do the Zangief Spinning Thingy is the only thing I can think of.

I have not met any spamming Dhalsims till date. What does a spamming dhalsim does?

Abel: Ya, just block and press forward punch to slam him, fastest way, or sometimes if your command grab comes out fast enough and he doesn't press fast enough, you can score a reversal and grab him, but not often.

Came across a guy called nimblelion earlier. His Chun Li was disgustingly good. Cross over spams kick making you blocking the wrong direction all the time (best is Auto block enabled).... Respect! ;)

have a question about auto block, in the case if one jumps over opp and hit when he is already slightly behind, will auto block change the direction?

Guess where all the ragequitters-cum-spammers have gone to? Friendly Matches. Just gone thru a few Friendly Matches. Some rage quit when they lost. Some others spam like no tomorrow.

I thought I'd just leave my character there and not do anything. Guess what again. These losers will punch the SP button until your character's dead. Shows a lot about their level of intelligence, eh? Oh, since it's a friendly match, I disconnect the moment K.O appears and checked out their Player Card. Suspicion confirmed. :)

Capcom SHOULD give up on the BP system. It's not workable at all.

I will like to see more game related casual achievements, such as having 10 friends who played SF IV Volt together with you, or Giving one another gifts, or your avatars can have items, etc etc. Anything is better than this BP system which makes people egoistic and scoring wins at all times.

There should be an achievement for: Playing 50 matches without disconnecting... :D

I think the BP system is fine as is. If you ragequit, no matter what your reason is (the opponent is stupid, spamming, etc) then it's still your fault. There's no justifying ragequit.

A few things I would like to see in the next update are the option of either ultra, the tournament mode from console versions, and obviously more characters and retina. Someone found evil ryu and fei in the code, hope they add seth and adon after that :p

Then what about server lag? Is that my fault too? For the past 2-3 games I had been playing, the game automatically disconnects during the "Now Loading" screen and my BP got deducted / loss drop is counted... Although I dun care about BPs, it's interesting to note that during loading screen, disconnection = penalty also... :p

When the game does load, gameplay was ok for a few secs then it turns really bad. My opponent's Akuma's air fireball took 50 secs to land....

BTW my name online is called Lag Fighter.... :D

It will be good if there's more varieties to single player game as well, since most people are (and never will be) 100% satisfied with online gameplay.

In addition to more characters, how about other battle modes? Such as KOF style (3 vs 3) etc? But then that will means most people will choose : RYU/KEN/AKUMA... Wahahaha.... As if 1 fireball spammer is NOT bad enough...

Unfortunately SF4, even SSF4 and AE, never has 3 on 3 or any tag mode.

It's not your fault that the game lags, but quitting is quitting.

And let's be honest, how often do you get laggy matches? In my 150 matches, I've had less than 5 matches that lagged badly (talk about 1 frame per 2 seconds). And that was when I was on holiday and the wi-fi is not that fast. That means if your matches always lag, it's your connection's fault.

And if it only happens like 1 in 30 matches, then you're trying too hard to find an excuse to ragequit.. From people who spam sp, turtle, zone, now the game lags.

Yes, ragequitting has been an issue since the early version but the main problem is because people ragequit. Now that there's a system to punish the ragequitters, you suddenly don't like the punishment?

I think it's perfect that Capcom decides to punish ragequitters.

    +1

If there's too many problems for you don't play. In 1.00 the whole thread was full of ragequit complaints, now that it's not an issue, people complain about everything else. Yes, people are going tl always spam with akuma, so find a counter for it. Complaining on the TA forums isn't gonna get them to stop.

I must admit, if I ever manage to get 1,500 BP I'll be very tempted to give up on online (or at least the Ranking mode). Sadly I'm not good enough - I get to >1,000 BP and start playing people who are better than me (or who use tactics I don't (yet) know how to counter), then get knocked back down to around 800 BP, then get back to 1,000 BP, then start playing people who are better than me...

I swear half of it's psychological...

In fairness, although I lose as many matches by getting bored and attacking recklessly as the next man, I always back away from Zangief too. He terrifies me!

Even if you spend a million fireballs trying to keep him away from you his enormous health means I always end up backed into a corner - where I can a) Attack him, watch him block, and then slam me; b) Try and escape to start again, and probably get slammed; or c) Do nothing, and get slammed.

I'm sure there's something I can (consistently) do against him, I just don't know what it is yet. And if the terrifying ease with which he can grab you, out of pretty much anything, wasn't bad enough he only has to hit with it a few times and it's game over.

I'd love to do something other than run away and play ultra-defensively against Zangief, but every time I try I end up being very badly beaten for my trouble... :)

I much prefer the Friendly mode, TBH, but I would like to get the 1,500 BP achievement - it's the only one I haven't got¹.

Not really - I'd probably just throw fireballs in that situation as well, and I'm no more than averagely stupid (as my MA attests). I'd be as confused as hell and waiting for the other shoe to drop, mind! :)

I wouldn't. Half of Street Fighter IV's achievements, and a good chunk of The King of Fighters i-002's, rely on offline multiplayer. Which is fine - unless, like me, you don't know anyone else with those games on their iPhone. Which means there's no way of getting them (and things like 'Get 10 player cards from players with different hometowns' - yeah, really?). Which is annoying.

I'd have to agree with that, really. It's a binary thing. You either quit deliberately or you didn't.

The lag is shocking at the moment - it's definitely got worse since the update. Why, I don't know, but it certainly has. And the system kicks me out of so many games before they begin it's untrue.

Never had a loss recorded, or a BP reduction, from the servers disconnecting me, though. That sucks.

I get lag very often. Seems to depend on the time of day - If I play in the morning, for example, I'll meet a lot more oriental players, and the lag is often worse.

It's unusual for me to find a lag-free match at the moment - and, again, that wasn't the case before the update...

I'm sorry my playing Ryu and Ken bores you. Please advise me who you feel is acceptable for me to choose and I shall change forthwith.

¹Apart from the one you get for having all the others, obviously.

Oriental players? You mean players from asian countries? How do you know? (I mean, is there an easy way or do you just check all their cards manually?)

I may just be being horribly presumptuous, but if I play in the morning (I'm in the UK, BTW) I find a lot of players with names and tag lines written in Japanese (or Mandarin or Korean, I'm sadly ignorant of the languages) characters.

Given the relative time difference I assume that they are players in Japan (or elsewhere). I may well be wrong, but it seems likely (and would perhaps explain the increased lag in those games).

I'm off work and laid up in bed at the moment. I have a lot of time on my hands... :)

Youre so right and spamming with akuma is just a tactic from the user and the game is a tactic game, fireball spamming e.a. Are all just good tactics (not that i use them because i admit it is boring and annoying)
But it is fun and challanging to find a counter.
so you just have to find an tactic agianst it.

Playing as Balrog I love fireball spammers, sometimes they keep doing it, even when I repeatedly use my turn punch, which repeatedly hit.

  19. Null here - posting from the old account due to some vpn stuff.

As Gief, Akuma really isn't as horrible to go up against because you can absolutely pummel him if he makes only 1 or 2 mistakes.

A great strat is to be just out of his uppercut range and use lariat when he fireballs - then move (you can move while lariat'ing) closer and hit him with it.
It also does fair chip damage and has relatively high priority.

Make sure to stand next to him after getting him to his ultra (probably with a throw, so he'll be getting off the ground), and jump right as he recovers. There's a 99% likelihood that he'll whiff his ultra under you :D

Now, Sagat, on the otherhand - as a Gief, his fireballs do not scare me.

It's his standing fierce kick. It's absolutely brutal. A good Sagat player can probably beat most zangiefs using only movement for positioning and well-timed fierce kicks.

Going back to the subject of lag - I've just played six games - all of which were interfered with, to a greater or lesser extent, by the lag.

Now, I'm not saying it changed the result of all those games (I won 2 and lost 4, for those interested in just how bad I am :)), but two examples were:

    1) I dragon-punched an opponent who was jumping in. Nothing happened, and I got hit with a jump-kick/ punch combo. The dragon-punch, presumably due to some kind of lag-buffering, then fires itself off. And whiffs. I get hit with a super combo on landing. That's quite a damage-switch, due to the lag;

    2) Final round. Ken has a small amount of life left, and I block a dragon punch. As he's falling I fire off an Ultra fireball. Game over. But when the animation finishes, Ken has somehow teleported back to the ground and is blocking. This one happens a lot, I'm sure we've all seen it. He has maybe a pixel of energy left. I go on to lose the round.

As I say, I'm not saying in all cases my losses were due to lag (although in the second one it definitely was, although I should have closed it out anyway). And we probably only notice it when it happens to us, and don't when it favours us (although I don't remember ever being able to block an Ultra combo that should have hit after the animation). But it's definitely a real issue, and it certainly seems to be worse lately.

ETA: Also, I usually have my opponent select set to 'all' - but lately I only seem to get the same range of opponents I would if I had it set to 'same skill'. Anyone else finding this?
