I LOVE that combo, I've been doing it quite a lot lately. Once you get the timing down it's easy though, lag or not. I use a lot of fakes so I bait people into jumping at me. It works well especially against grapplers and non-fireball characters. But I've never seen another Guile do it, so i wasn't sure if anyone else ever did it as a regular thing. I'm not sure if Backfist can be blocked low or not. If the Boom connects though, you should be able to combo it. Yep, it's in there! I missed the Guile chatter, I've had the flu. It's possible. I haven't tried it, although I think Standing Fierce>FK was the classic SF2 "Standing Flash Kick" combo if I remember right. The best way is, like mooken said, pick one character and learn everything you can about them. At least that's the way taht worked best for me. The meter usage thing is a personal thing really. I never seem to have ENOUGH meter so I'm very conservative with it and I don't see FADCs as being all that useful for Guile considering the meter costs. Definitely learn those because it's worth its weight in gold to teleport directly in front of a fireball spammer right after he's launched a fireball and kick him in the face. Definitely one of those moments where I wish the game supported the forward-facing camera.
Also, what's you guys' opinion on the Yun - Blanka matchup? I think it's in Yun's favor, so far. Although, it's hard for Yun to get out once Blanka's got him knocked down.
I've uploaded a match of me against a Zangief called Xingeling (that ring a bell, anyone?). It was a really close match, and I won because of a mistake he made. But I think I did pretty well, all the same. He he, thanks! Here's some tips that I think would work against my Yun (for Blanka users): Don't Electricity on wake-up, unless he's jumping around over you Knock Yun down whenever you can, and make sure you keep on crossing him up. Otherwise, he'll EX Nishokyaku you. Don't randomly Ultra; he is at a range where he can easily Ultra or combo into his super if he blocks it EX Electricity is a great counter against Yun, especially when he's up close and personal. Don't abuse it when he has an Ultra stocked up. His Senpukyaku is rather slow; go into training mode and train yourself against it. If he activates Genei Jin without combo-ing, make sure you don't make any sudden moves, seeing as he can cancel out any normal with a special, even if they don't hit (this applies to you Hadoken users, too) Remember that Raigeki Shuu - Cr. LK is NOT a blockstring! You can hit him in-between those moves. Cr. LK x2 - TC 1 - Tetsuzanko IS a true blockstring, though.
I thought his rising kicks knock blankas out of a cross up? I'll be honest though, I don't fight enough good yuns to want practice in the training room
1) Ending the combo with a psycho crusher completely nullifies what you can do afterwards given that most people tech when they fall. You can follow a knee press with a headstomp for the continuous pressure which is why I will sacrifice the damage for this added advantage. 2) Never have I been caught by flying away from headstomp from Akuma's Ultra. Even now, I've recorded a Bison to headstomp -> fly away -> neutral jump, I can't catch him using the Ultra. I'll add a fun fact to this: If the person you are fighting against techs when they fall down and you have 2 bars to spare, do cr.kick -> psycho crusher -> FADC -> dashback -> psycho crusher. The second psycho crusher will cross them up and do 170. On a side note, I JUST noticed that the second hit for the psycho crusher does an extra 20 damage doing 170 as opposed to 150.
Speaking from experience and training room, but hey! You're the master of Bison over here. (This might sound like I'm making fun of you or something, but I'm not. I respect your superior skills with Bison.) And I experienced the Akuma catching pre-update. I wonder if that has anything to do with it? I don't know, unfortunately. :/ Probably not.
They do, unless you get the right timing and all. Also, I'll have to fight more TA Members to give you a better understanding of how I play Yun. I don't save or upload replays often enough.
Not many Honda players here, but honda's neutral jump Punch can change jump trajectory mid-air. A neutral jump in front of the opponent can end up behind your opponent w a punch in mid air. It's not a cross-up but it'll change sides to bait out a wrong-sided SRK maybe. And it's an option from distance to get over fireballs. Also has really good hit range, but won't hit crouched opponents.
With Mooken saying that I'm like an encyclopedia, it got me thinking. Now my Location is the training room. I gotta compile all of my Yun tips and put them in the guide...
We were thinking of getting a wiki site going, possibly using Google Sites. That would get all the SF4V information in one place, and have character-specific pages. It would also allow for things like sortable tables of moves/combos, so that you could sort moves by Damage, or sort combos by Stun amts. We have so much information, and so many different contributors, it would be a shame to have it lost amongst the 1000+ pages in this forum ..
Re Guile talk: Crouching light punch links into standing punch, it makes combos like, j P, cr p x2, standing p, flashkick/sonic boom easier. Sonic boom into Sweep and getting 2 hits is fairly rare. I've done it a few times before in ranked without EX cancelling. It's not something that you can make happen consistently, but it's a nice bonus. As I've pointed out before, EX Flashkick FADC Guile High Kick, Backfist is a good quirky combo I like to use, but requires the flashkick to be cancelled super early
Just played a friendly Yun vs. Yun match. Absolutely one of the most boring matchups in all of Volt for me. It boiled down to who could hit the first Focus Attack.
... Really?... It shouldn't work like that... mind uploading the match if you got a replay of it, so I can see your Yun in action?
Why not you simulate how felix play for your training CPU Yun~ then you can figure how to deal with it~
