That isn't a vortex because Dhalsim doesn't until have unlimited meter for ultra, and his yoga fire has to come from too far away for it to be repeatable. This is a mix-up.
Well of course not. A single crossup doesn't = vortex. But every attack he follows up with (pressure) can be. In addition, anyone who is on the ground (especially with an untechable knockdown) is at a disadvantage. Which is how everyone here before has explained, is the start of most people's vortexs. The more you limit their options and force your opponent to guess is all part of it as well.
If you know what youre doing and you time your crossup so its meaty then ex upkicks wont auto correct in time and it will whiff. I dont know what you mean by you can forward dash it.....And they can just empty jump and then ex upkicks will get blocked, then punish. Edit: Safe jumping is different to being safe by empty jumping.
Alright, now you clearly need to examine the game more. Yes, it is a mix-up by itself, but that doesn't mean you can't put it all together to make a vortex out of everything you've got. Just because you can't do it as frequent as Akuma, doesn't mean you do not have a vortex game. Watch a sim throw an EX Fireball, teleport behind air RH, cr. MP, Yoga flame, cr. mk (slide), throw, Ult, then teleport front/behind or wait to open up the enemy with a low poke or jump back FP (sniper). Sure you can't do it every moment of the game, but that either wins you the match or turns the match around. You build so much meter and 1 (sometimes 2) ultra's every game. You can use this often enough to be considered a vortex. It's just not Akuma's ultra aggressive vortex. What? It's a mix-up on top of another mix-up plust a reset and another mix-up? Well isn't that a vortex? come on now. Watch this set between F.Champ (Sim) vs Mago (Sagat) last year. If you don't see F. Champ vortexing Mago, then you're not seeing Sim's vortex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-6skY4Asbe8 This is probably one of the best sets in 2011, by far. Amazing skill for both players. Impressive how Champ handles Sagat with Sim too. Incredible.
Don't confuse the two, Snooper. It's one bar to get out of a mix-up, not an ultra bar to keep a mix-up going. bb in about thirty minutes maybe. Gonna go watch the Sagat vs. Dhalsim matchup searching for egg for my face.
@ 13:58 is a great example of a difficult Sim vortex that F Champ pulls out on Mago. Although it didn't work out in the end and isn't as long or enduring as Akuma's, doesn't mean this is not Sim's craftable vortex. It's some of the best he's got, and the trickiest. I would of died without question against a vortex like that. Not to mention knowing when to back off or back dash in the middle of your vortex to anticipate someone mashing DP for a full punish or panic reaction like an ultra. Opeeeeeeeen yoooouuuuurrrr miiiiiiiiiiiiinnnnndd. Edit: Ultra's are fantastic to keep a vortex going! Sims, Blanka's, Juri's, Yun's, ect...
Dee jay wont always have meter, and it doesnt get him out of that mixup, it loses to crossups and empty jumps.
@Nashberry yeah that vega match was EPIC. I was inspired to use him after watching that replay of FENIX and thinking that vega looked like a ton of fun. Then, after doing some experimenting with linking charge ultras in this update, I wanted to see what was possible online. Super excited that they landed. I saved the replay for study. I think your Makoto is still infinitely better than your Sakura. Your Makoto is the best I've ever seen - quite possibly the best in volt. She would have annihilated my vega. Guys, let's end this discussion about vortex and start a new one about how we need to start a petition for Adon. I could even deal with dan, TBH. In other news, Gouken is a welcome character. I love his playstyle, and he can 100% a ton of chars. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ohNAxa52ZEA
Meh, not really a fan of this game on iOS. Don't feel like it translates over very well with its touch screen gameplay. Surprised you guys can even have semi decent matches tbh.
Same to you. Always a pleasure. I have a long list of dropped/missed moves. I was just slow on reaction time. I was lying down in bed but can't really use that as an excuse The Sagat matches were frustrating because I felt that I just couldn't connect some of my standard moves.
Is that part of a condom ad? "Street Fighter IV Volt condoms - now with intimate SNES GamePlay sensations, for those all-night multiplayer sessions"
Gouken is far more than a clone. Charged fireballs, a parry move, timing-sensitive throw combos and a throw-into-ultra setup, anti-air fireballs...forward rush palms..he's a really deep character. Plus, storyline-wise, you'd have a hard time arguing that Gouken is a Ryu clone. : D EDIT: Although I'd totally be down for Hakan / Ibuki, and you know where I stand on Adon. That said, I REALLY like the idea of an anti-air fireball character. Imagine the fun you'd have against those players who just jump. *ahem* *eyes a very specific Bison player*
I hope you're not talking about me . I've been spending lots of time in the training room without WiFi and I've been able to add 2 new things to my gameplay. Hopefully, they translate well when playing against others online.
Talkin bout me? lol Hey, with regards to Bisons ultra.... is there any clever ways you guys have seen to lead into it? Besides the air punches I shy away from that ultra unless I have a full life lead and have nothing to lose trying it. Most of the time when people jump in I don't catch them with it, when akumas are jumping backwards I usually catch them with the last grab... just wondering if there is any cool ways of leading it to gaurentee a connect?
