Zangeif Can anyone offer my any good advice re Zangief. I like playing him but I have problems when it comes to his anti air game. I hard time when Ryu jumps straight up while infront of me and kicks after knocking me down. The block then grab take a long time to execute and is hard to time. It also leaves you vunerable after you miss. I do try to do the spinning punch move but that one doesn't always catch the opponent and seems to have a low priority vs the jump kick. Most other characters have an anti air move i.e. honda the sumo splash, guile the flash kick, ryu uppercut, etc. Whats an effective move to counter this? Thanks, Pete
PeteZ, Zangief's lariat is his best anti-air. You want to start it just as the opponent is going to hit you. Work on the timing in practice mode. If it's not working vs certain moves, quite simply, block.
I really love playing Sakura, she's a blast. I think I've had more insane comebacks with her than Sagat and I've played like 1/20th of the matches. When she gets on a roll, you can totally mind#### your opponent. But her big problem is that she gets killed by turtling opponents. Run away Akumas, defensive Guiles - she just can't win, or at least, I haven't figured it out yet. It seems like this is a big problem for a lot of characters though, not just her. It's also why I main Sagat. You just can't turtle against him, his fireball game is way too strong. You can't out-Sagat Sagat.
@Apprunner/KaChigga Hey man, nice to see weve got another cammy player on tr forums! I dont think ive played you before, but do you want to have some games later on, this might sound stupid but I hate the cammy mirror match and need to practice it
Anybody have overall strategies and tips for Street Fighter? I'm a Smash Melee player, so if any of you guys have experience there and can relate it to SF, that would be nice. If not, then anything helps.
thx man your Guile is one of the best...but i'm not a good player with Viper,i want change from Viper to Chun-Li,but Chun-Li don't have a good anti-air and her jump is to high and give Shoto's player time to landed they anti air or they ultra...
I used to play a bit of brawl, kind if similar to melee i guess. Its A LOT slower paced than melee, you have to really think about what youre doing depending on your character. Brawl is kind of 95% rushdown but most characters have a good anti air in SF so you cant just jump in all day. Also knockdowns are really important for some characters.Which character are you planning on playing, overall gameplans vary drastically depending on who you play...
So i played 20 games with each chars: Akuma: Wins 14, loss 6. (around 50% played in another device, not mine) Guile: Wins 12, loss 8. (Another device and acc) Balrog: Wins 11, loss 9. Vega: Wins 12, loss 8. (Another device and acc) And then i picked up Makoto. ... Wins 1, loss 19. Are you kidding me? Am i just bad with Makoto? I seriously dont know how to use the specials? Sometimes i dont even bother doing them cause they are so hard to land with even if im rank B on Adon console version and he requires good skills, well atleast for me. Its just that the specials are so slow that i get punished everytime i do it? The focus attack is the only good thing ive noticed on Makoto. Focus attack+super+ultra. I know im bad with her cause grueling level Makoto just pisses me off. If someones good with her, any tips how to use her? Im playing SP mode on auto block (sigh i dont even need it but do i still face autoblockers without it? Cause i want to find players fast.) For me it feels like her specials are so slow they are easily punishable? Like the only good skill she got is the ex wtf is that skill called again? She can load it, its the normal SP move. Its extremely fast and deals very high damage but others than that, i seriously dont know how to play her. And any tips how to catch people running away from me? Spamming SP wont work cause its way too slow and punishable. Is Makoto really this crap? The grueling mode Makoto totally owns me so i guess i cant play her..
Snooper, Please ignore those matches, my execution was the worst it's been in a long time. I'm blaming it on the fact that it's like 62 degrees in my house and my hands are really cold.
Makoto is a very different character, she doesn't play like anyone else really. I don't know if nashberry uploads any of his matches, but if he does, check them out, he's got a great Makoto.
Brawl and Melee have the same cores, but actually play quite differently, so doesn't really help. Well, are there any specifics as to what I should know?
Haha, its all good, its like 40 degrees celsius here lol, just been at the beach for a few hours so im really sunburnt :S
It really depends on your character, but there a few terms you should know, youll probably already know a few but still.... Hitstun/blockstun:The stun caused by getting hit by or blocking a move-obviously. You cant do anything during hit or blockstun. Reversal:When you do a special move, super or ultra immediatley after getting up or getting out of hit/blockstun. Zoning:Trying to keep the other player away, usually with projectiles but also with pokes. Crossup:When you do a jumping attack that hits them on the opposite side that you jumped from. Mix up:When you put your opponent in a situation where they have to guess what you will do, and guessing wrong will usually net you some damage. Overhead:An attack that you have to block standing, in volt if you dont press anything then you will block any overheads or jumping attacks. Thats basically it, im probably missing some other important terms though. One tip-dont try to be a hero by not using sp assist/auto block. You hear people say that its for noobs and all that but honestly youre handicapping yourself if you dont use them. Maybe if you use a charge character then you dont have to use sp assist...
I hate mirrors. Whoever plays the turtle usually wins. It's the one match where reaction time means more than skill.
Wow, friendly matches are terrible. Just messin around with abel and I didnt want to lose any bo so i played friendly. Oh my god. Ran into 7 kens and 2 akumas, most on 0bp, none above 500. Every single one rage quitted. I beat one of the kens with yun, he just crouched the whole time and would occasionally do a random uppercut, his sig was 'why do i lose'. If youre feelin like youre not playing too well, go play some people in friendly. Trust me, itll make you feel better about yourself.
I hate cammy. I think I've played u a bit and hate that match. I grip the he'll out of my iPod I swear it's the only time my bison turtles.. ...and I usually hate doing a rematch regardless of outcome.
