I just saw one of your replays against The Xion's Balrog (which the stupid system thinks is M.Bison). Does he main Balrog? The one that I saw you won and I was pretty impressed. Been looking for decent Balrog's to learn from so I just randomly came across it.
Hi Jibba, The Xion main is Bison, but he do know how to use Barlog too (Altot TenOnez is better in my opinion) and others too, a all rounder player. But currently he be away for a short period for exam and only be back for game next Tuesday. Ya, he Barlog is good~ nearly got smack down. Haha. Do add him, I will let him know
In Japan, some of the characters name are slightly switched around. For legal reason, they were changed here in the U.S. In Japan: M. Bison is actually Vega Vega is actually Balrog Balrog is actually M.Bison (sounds like Mike Tyson) edit: I guess the US network is using the Japanese names instead of the US names... To avoid confusions, players have cleverly nicked name these characters as: Tyrant/Dictator Claw Boxer
I noticed that too -- I guess they're using the japanese naming convention for dictator/claw/boxer .. They forgot to localize the names when developing the website, I suppose.

Yeah, I agree that TenOnez is the top Balrog in Volt. He's damn quick to pull off those combos. Eventually it becomes muscle memory and gets easier, but until then I know what to do but my brain can't send it to my fingers quite fast enough to pull those off. In any event, nice Makoto. I see that you have a lot of replays up so I may take a look. She seems like a lot of fun to play but I always figured my fingers weren't nimble enough anymore to pull her off.
Thank you gentlemen. I actually remembered that once you said it but just assumed it was a mixup. At least they have pictures but it took me some playing around to figure out how to search for Balrog replays and actually get Balrog replays. Also, I see you're moving right along and close to the top ten Tofu. Keep up the good work to make up for all of us Dhalsim's dropping like flies.
I got it. Thanks. I'm going to continue to fiddle around with him and try to work on more Focuses and a few other tricks, but sadly I don't think that will get him to wear he once was.
Don't sweat it. They weren't bad matches. You played Dhalsim the way he has to be played against Balrog after the new update. I surprise myself soemtimes at how well I do against Dhalsims with Balrog. Much, much worse against Bisons and other characters who can get a small lead, even from chip damage, and then just hit back and wait for me. And at the end of the day, it's just a game. I do hope, however, that Capcom fixes Dhalsim.
I will be doing it soon enough, although it's frustrating to have to do it since I have a ton of titles, icons, etc. now. I also have difficulty with the challeges so it will be disappointing to have to start over with those. I'm just waiting to get better overall with other characters so I can be an above .500 player. I was a .666 player with Dhalsim before the update but don't think I'll get back to that point with Balrog. That's why I'm still trying out other options.
@Jibba I ran into a Dhalsim player who did pretty well against me. We played about 10 or 15 games and he ended up with more wins. Check out Pitzzboy. I gave him about 200-300 bps.
So I thought viper's ultra lost -some- invulnerability -- it may have lost -all- invulnerability. I was knocked out of my ultra while trying to "duck" a sonic boom at point blank range. boo.
All I remember is that it didn't have throw invulnerability. Loved trollin' some Viper's with a Sumo Splash.
Are you sure about this? I was just in the training room trying things out. Viper's ultra still has the invincibility to avoid a point blank Ryu ultra. You have to be at a certain distance though. His ultra travels faster in the first few frames, then slows down, so you have to be with the fast range of the fireball in order for it to pass while you are still invincible.I also just tried it out against a sonic boom, still works fine but if if the projectile is still in range of your hitbox after you lose invincibility, you will obviously get hit. It definitely still has invincibility though.
Was it against your Gief or Abel? I still do well enough against certain characters and it really comes down to which style I have to play. Against Gief I use teleports (especially attack teleports) very methodically because it's all about avoiding his hugs. Although I have more trouble with every character since the update, it's characters like Bison, Ken, Ryu, Akuma, etc. that have given me the most (additional) trouble since the update. I looked briefly for some of his replays but haven't found any yet. Will keep digging though. Is his name spelled that way on GC? Thanks Tofu.
Oy. This update is bad. Basically every character but Yun and Makoto are worse. I'd say Ryu is one of the new top tiers based on the fact that he really didn't seem to change much outside of his damage nerfs. Think I might end up maining him in the future. Playing a few matches with him, the fights already seem a lot less lopsided. I love Guile but every match seems like an uphill battle. Go Shoto Fighter 4. :-/
Thanks. I checked for replays and came up empty but I'll keep my eyes open. I did find some from other players that look promising that I can run through tonight. Frames Advantage is apparently still around and playing Dhalsim so I'll see how his game looks since the update.
I've definitely started thinking about maining Ryu, Sagat or, less likely, Ken. But I can't play that overly-turtle style that I see a lot of Ryus play. Obviously you have to play each characters game, but there's a limit.
So I'm convinced Cody is good in this version so much so that I want someone to prove me wrong because I HATE Cody as a character and I want a reason to stop playing him. So who wants to play some friendlies against my Cody?
