Can't comment on vega/claw yet. For guile, always pre-charge down+back before the round starts. If their first move is to jump towards you, flashkick. If they fireball, then see below: Vs Ken - block the first fireball crouching, so that you're still charged for both moves. Ken players tend to be more aggressive because they want their flashy jumpkick-punch-punch-uppercut combo. So wait for the jump-in and flashkick. If he continues w fireballs, your sonic booms can keep pace. Stay crouching-blocking to charge, so that you're not moving backwards. This is important so that when he finally gets impatient and jumps, you're in range to flashkick. You also have the option of anticipating his fireballs and jump-kicking him. Or jump-bait a missed uppercut Ryu - a bit rougher, you definitely need to anticipAte his fireballs. His disadvNtage is his shorter range with his uppercut, so he is more prone to whiffing. You can't wait for the firebAlls to appear before you jump - that goes for both ryu and Ken. If you're reacting, you're going together punished. Also, ryu's fireballs are faster. If you jump straight up over gem, ryu can't fire another one until he first has disAppeared offscreen. Use this to your advantage to throw a sonic boom and chase it - your footspeed let's you stay safe before a sonic boom. ESP against ryu, pressure him with you attacks, when he VGA pressured, he'll panic and uppercut, so try to wait for that opportunity. It's much easier to demonstrate than to explain in words, but I hope some of that made sense. With guile and deejay, you're always crouch-back charging, even when you're jumpin forward. Charge characters take a lot of practice to learn. AlwYs charge. I'm charging right now as I type this reply
Also, use the SP button. On a touchscreen, you're just making it super difficult for yourself to do full manual controls. You'll still need motions for ex moves but for normal specials, don't make it complicated. As for bison/dictator, from distance, use the headstomp as a counter for fireballs. You'll need to near-anticipate fireballs but you have a bit more reaction time. Stomp but don't follow up with the dive. You can also bait them into uppercasing, and dodge the uppercut with your reverse dive. Once they're down on the ground, get into close range, and pressure w low kick - scisscor kick combos. Even if blocked, they're fairly safe. Throw 2 or 3 sets, and wait for a whiffed uppercut. I find the torpedo and teleport useless, as is the dive after a headstomp. And always charge.
Some worthy competition level videos from evo2010 to check out if you haven't already : Honda (mike ross) VS Ryu (Daigo)
Guile my best character, I have a superb strategy that I've never really tried in a pro though, Id love to test it out someday when I can connect that is.
This game is cheap as shit. I play it solely to piss others off as they do me. Not being able to only play with those who do not use the SP button is total fail.
The first round of Honda-ryu was a great example of an aggressive counterattack to fireballing. Once honda was backed into a corner, it was over. If you're in a corner, you options are a) block and get chipped b) jump and get uppercut. Not a good place to be. Guile-ryu battle was a great match. That's just daigo being clutch and not getting razzled on the edge of death. Again, once guile was cornered, ryu controlled the spacing to prevent any real counterattacks. Great vids
I tried to get a game going with you but it said "can't connect" in the gamecenter multiplayer screen. Boo
Haha don't worry dude. I've used guile, ryu, and dhalsim since 1990. Gamecenter needs a mail function
Also, when u land the jumpkick, follow w lowkick+tigerknee. Incorporate more lowkick-lowtiger and lowkick-tigerknee into your closerange game. You. Had my closerange somicboom timing figured out quite well, kept jumping over and punished me for it.
I was stumped haha, guile had a good anti air and I had to just keep jumping in . Thanks for the pointers, will try to work on them .
it seems keeping a safe distance is essential in this game. is this what u all called as zoning? how to train this?
Honestly? You learn by getting beat. Experience is the best teacher. Playing vs CPU doesn't help too much. Go into training mode, and figure out how far your character jumps forward. Also figure out the reach of your normal attacks, ESP crouching kicks (not sweeps). Low kicks are usually safe attacks. Learn the range of your flashkick. Learn how fast the sonic boom moves so you can time it to hit your opponent when he gets up.
Of course it is. Focus absorb, punish. You don't know how focus works do you? But in any case... you have to know how to punish properly. It's not worth it to parry all those hits only to go in for a kick or something. You're going to want to punish for 300+ damage; all chars have something.
