I've been playing around with Abel last night and I'm really starting to like him. I still don't know a whole lot of the match ups and there were times when I choke during intense moments, but I'm digging him a lot. Not as powerful as Gief (who is right?), but I like that he has a lot more mix ups and strategies. I feel like I found a new toy.
I always viewed him as having a lot of similarities with Gief, but with a little more speed, more mixups and more ways to counter fireballers (I get caught more often than I should with Dhalsim by his Ultra). Given your skill with grapplers he'd seem like a good choice. You just learn to hit your opponents more than three times in a round to win.

Been trying to play a lot of folks this evening. [Check your PMs, Fffan]. Been really trying to up my Blanka game. Then it was straight to Hector 3. Great games, but dear god the memory leaks are unbearable. More games with more people later!
I just played him like two minutes ago in a ranked match. He pissed me off the second match and didn't want to go again. Really, really, really, really annoying Blanka. I missed tons of moves because he kept jumping over my head. Seriously, I don't care if I crushed him, he's not worth playing again. I'd rather have somebody flick me in the head for an hour.
That's what Blanka's game is all about - like El Fuerte, shenanigan, high risk, high reward! -40C(F) is a legit fighter!

I dont really like IB2. Really digging mage gauntlet though. But an update isnt going to completely change the game. Yes, it'd be nice to get some new characters but how many fei longs, yuns, sakuras or makotos do you see online?
I can understand enjoying Mage Gauntlet, cause' it's a fun game... but you don't like IB2? : O Just sort of surprised.
Its kind of fun but gets old pretty quick. Just learn the enemies patterns, counter, grind it out, buy more stuff. Obviously theres more to it than that, but i dunno, never really got into the first one and this one hasnt done anything game changing for me so far. Thats just my opinion though, I can definitley see how its so popular.

No. All of our rounds were close, but he won both matches. What I mean by "I missed tons of moves because he kept jumping over my head" is hard to explain. He's the kind of Blanka who jumps incessantly. I'd try to catch him and sometimes miss because he'd suddenly be behind me or on top of me where I just barely couldn't connect. I even sent two Ultras in the wrong direction somehow. It's a legit strategy, but irritating as all hell. He's really is a great fighter, no doubt. But, his style is extremely annoying. Win or lose, I just don't have fun playing him. I'm not mad at all because I lost.
