Seems like we're getting more and more new members. Is our community growing bigger because we're listing toucharcade.com for our motto?

    advice

I need some advice if anyone has some to loan me I would happily take heed. I as of late have lost my greatest weapon which is patience. Especially against camper style and projectile style players. I been overly aggressive out of frustration at blocking endless fireballs/headbuts/rolls in short the ability of people to use long range has aggravated me especially in situations when at the end its a draw and we each have a sliver of life and the opponent just uses long range.

I use to never lose my patience and would just play it out now I rush head long into bad situations out of sheer annoyance. What do you do when this happens to you? Should I just take some time off? Or is there a better way to deal with this? Thanks for any replies!

You have to sus out your opponent first. Some people dont know what theyre doing and will just spam fireballs. Just jump in and do a simple combo on them when you know theyll fireball. Against most people who play fireball chacters (or honda and blanka) though you have to be careful. Know that characters like guile may keep you out for 80 seconds, but makotos crazy stun means you can kill him in about 10. So the cammy/guile matchup is pretty similar to makoto guile. You cant jump in on him if he knows what hes doing. Just start the round by whiffing some overheads to build meter, youll have time to react to his fireballs cos theyre so slow, just watch if he has meter for ex fireballs. Then when you jump over the fireball do a tsurgi to build more meter and walk him to the corner. Its basically the same for all fireball characters, walk them to the corner while building meter, then randomly jump or dash in and go nuts. You have to remember that makoto cqn kill so quickly, it doesnt matter if you take chip from fireballs.

Just a few things i noticed when i played you last night. You hit me with a lot of low medium punches, but you didnt cancel them into dash punches. I dont know how hard that hit confirm is, but its definitley worth practicing. Your anti air wasnt great. Standing medium punch has such a good hitbox, works really well for anti air, so does fuikage against crossups. And apart from when you had ultra you wouldnt karakusa me much at all. That thing is so good.

One trick that a makoto used on me once was using ex karakusa when i did a divekick, the super armor would eat up the divekick and id get grabbed and eat an ultra or something :S

Edit: Just re read your question and i didnt really answer it properly lol. But just know that makoto has crazy damage and stun, dont worry about taking chip, just bide your time and then go nuts. And if you land a combo or two, keep the pressure on and go for the stun.

Heres a vid of shiro i was watching last night. I wont spoil the ending for you but its definitley worth watching.

Brother it is nice to have match with you.I dun mind my rival is shoto or not, all I care is strong or weak. To be frank, seldom shoto can beat me as I have at least 2000 matches with them.

My advice is: take a break. You have other games on your iDevice to play, right? And if you're frustrated doing those, take some deep breaths and go do something else. Sit down for a couple minutes, read a book, create the worlds greatest sandwich or something. I know what it's like for you, because I've had some times where I just got angrier and angrier for falling to overused tricks and strategies, and for some reason, not being able to retaliate. Like Blanka's Jumping Light kick, or I just kept jumping into a fireball, etc. One thing that might help you as well is learning a new character, and return to your old one afterwards.

Ah, yes. You invited me for some matches the other day. Your Zangief is very tough. Very offensive and always trying to attack, made it very difficult for me.

Dammit, another good zangief. That is pretty much impossible for cammy. Youre really good man, very different from shoryutofu, much more aggressive. You use a lot more lariats and he uses way more grabs. You two should have some matches, that would be really intense. Im gonna have to start learning sagat again, i dont even know how i won one of those matches.

Patience is the key to victory

What is patience: the quality of being patient, as the bearing of provocation, annoyance, misfortune, or pain, without complaint, loss of temper, irritation, or the like.

It's so easy to lose your cool when your opponents does something you would consider cheap, boring, lame, etc... and Volt seem to promote such tactics with the SP Assist Button.
It would only be natural if you were to think "god damn it, if it wasn't for the sp assist I would totally pwn that n00b". But that kind of thinking would only further fuel your frustration and chip away at your patience.

What would I do if this happens to me?
As a Gief player, I can assure you that these kinds of things happens to me all the time. So how do I deal with it?
The answer is rather simple, but to achieve it; it is not so easy.

I believe the solution to regaining your patience is through recognition and understanding of the match up. Through understanding why my opponent does what he does (basically put yourself in his shoes), I can focus my state of mind on countering the strategy rather then making excuses why I might be losing.
To do that you have to change the way you see the game.
The key to this is to face these situations head on and try to accept each encounter as a learning experience and not a competition of skills. It's no easy task and unless you're serious about Volt, it's not worth it.

Through enough encounters and practice, you may start to recognize the match up for what it is and hopefully prepare you mentally to keep your composer to deal with the situation properly.

Taking a break is nice too, but it won't prepare you for when the next time you encounter such situations again.

    Good Luck! :)
